The video is a horrible example of why “gun safety” teaches these is no such thing as an empty gun. Sadly, the anti-gun crowd will surely use this instance as another example of why private gun ownership should be banned and the video makes a strong point! The DEA should forever disarm that agent but political correctness probably won’t allow it.

Oh yeah, highly trained idiot. Smart guy has the slide locked back to show that the pistol is unloaded. Unfortunately he forgets to remove the loaded magazine, and when he closes the slide, he’s got a fully loaded pistol in his hand. Brilliant.
Perhaps the guy should spend as much time on his gun-handling as he does on his hairdo.

My brother sent me an email to check out your video. Makes me wonder what kind of professional this DEA Agent is! I guess it just goes to show you how easy accidents happen even with the professionals!

Your link states that the shooting in question occured on thursday evening. You should know that this incident occured almost a year ago, May 2004. You may want to check your sources before presenting a story without having all of the facts. Thanks

Well this is not the first incident where a police officer has shot off a gun when doing gun safety class. But I had never seen then get another gun out and freak out the children. They need to step up the no loaded weapons before they get in to the building. Just as if they are going into the court house. Glad to know that no children were injured at this session.

When police conduct a gun safty class at schools, community or any class oriented situations, the officers should have a “classroom handgun” and it should be unloaded. His holstered weapon should never be withdrawn except for the use of deadly force, firing range or routine maint. and absolutely never for illustration purposes.
I fail to understand why a “trained” (DEA?)officer would do otherwise. Would the shooting have been ruled an accident if this IDIOT had injured ar killed one of the children?

#5, when you post a link, it is just that….a link to what someone else has posted as truth. Are you that much of a rookie not to know it was NOT LST that stated it occured Thursday, it was the original reporter (probably the COMICAL). And lordy, what does the day of the week matter anyway? Will you ignore the lesson of the story because a posted link is inaccurate on the day it occured? I hope not….it is a good lesson for everyone.
