Thanks for the names Edd. NOW FOR A RELENTLESS POUNDING and not just getting fired up now but continuing f-o-r-e-v-e-r until we get rid of these so called Republicans. However we must be sure that the next bunch aren’t RINOs either. That will be difficult I’m afraid because politicans will tell you ANYTHING to get elected. Thanks again for all you do for us. You are an angel indeed.

    Title says it all . . .

  3. J. Bardin on April 14th, 2005 at 6:21 pm

I agree with a caller into KSEV this morning…I think Gov. Perry could probably do someting about this property tax problem through the Texas Constitution, but does not want to. I really do not think he is fighting for it hard enough. You and I know that when he wants to get someting done, he can. Is he not the Executive branch? We need to read the Texas Constitution and the Texas Statutes and see what authority is there. Everyone is afraid to exercise their authority these days.

Just like The Florida Terry Shiavo case…someone could do something………

thanks so much for your time…….

  4. don davis on April 14th, 2005 at 6:38 pm

with 20 of the 36 living in the dallas area we must be living in the wrong part of the state. they obviously dont pay the same taxes we do in houston.

  5. Mike on April 14th, 2005 at 6:48 pm

David, you should also put together a list of the 15 “good” democrats. These guys must be reasonable politicans - they went out on a limb against their party for this vote. I’d rather have one of them represent me than any of the RINO’s.

  6. L.Atkinson on April 14th, 2005 at 6:52 pm

How sad that when a rare opportunity like control of the legislature comes about for a single party with a platform that is embedded with the theme “for the people we stand” can not stand for or with the people. The people of Texas will be watching for their next opportunity to exercise the greatest of all American gifts - freedom to vote… at least those in my household have their eyes upon Texas…

  7. Mary Bean on April 14th, 2005 at 7:27 pm

I am TICKED OFF!!!!!!!!!! We need to get Fred Hill NOW. And all the RINOs!!!!! Thank you Dan, Edd, Paul and all the others who are helping. I will start my donations again. LONG LIVE CLOUT!!!

  8. Bob Ferguson on April 14th, 2005 at 7:45 pm

On the Farm and ranches we always kill (bad snakes) one at a time also we protect other snakes who do good for the land we live. This batch of 36 have proven what type they DEN With.

  9. Jerry Holt on April 14th, 2005 at 8:02 pm

I know quite a few people in the Dallas-Ft.Worth-Mineral Wells area and I will be sending them this list of RINOs. A few of the people in Fred Hill’s district had no idea he was even against it. Myself, I ca not support the Republican Party of Texas anymore. Why should I?? They didn’t support me and my fellow Texans. So, I bid them adios!

  10. Bill Eubank on April 14th, 2005 at 9:12 pm

I hope CLOUT will help field primary opponents against many of these RINOS. My check book will be open.

  11. Jim Early on April 14th, 2005 at 9:19 pm

I receive requests from the county, state, and national Republican Party organizations. I am using their envelops to send the following message because they will at least open any envelop they expect contains a check:

“Do not request contributions from me until the Republicans in the Texas Legislature reduce the homeowner property tax cap. A list of those who voted against reducing the cap is enclosed. You may want to contact them and encourage their support of property tax cap reduction.”

Would Clout want to encourage the membership to hit the R. party in the pocketbook in this manner?

  12. Leonard Wallace on April 14th, 2005 at 9:21 pm

sign me up for the hoe army. we need to select a target and purchase the mailing list for the district. Divide up the list and prepare a personal letter to each one providing the information on their own appraisal growth and explain what their representative did to continue the rise of the appraisal values. Solicit their support for a new representative.

  13. Gary Madden on April 14th, 2005 at 9:26 pm

Clearly the facts don’t mean much to the Texas State Legislature. Clearly they don’t care how tough it is for us to make ends meet. Clearly they don’t know what fiscal responsibility means. Clearly the GOP of Texas doesn’t have a clue on how to communicate that Republicans should not be the “tax and spend party of Texas”.

Very clearly I won’t ever vote a straight Republican party ticket again and more clearly the GOP won’t ever get another dime from me!

I’ve had it, it’s time for war and I won’t take any prisoners!

  14. Donald R. Minter on April 14th, 2005 at 9:54 pm

Well, Lois Kohlkorst (pardon my misspelling) is my representative in Austin County, and I told her staff in no uncertain terms before the vote that she needed to be VERY LOUD and VERY VOCAL in her support of this bill. Just a “yes” vote doesn’t get her off the hook.

She knew it would die, and did NOTHING to stop its death. I’ll not vote for her unless she rectifies this situation. The only way I can see that is that she personally gets it passed before the next election.

I realize that the 36 are the main targets, but I can only vote AGAINST ONE.

Now, the Clintonism that “there’s no difference between Republicans and Democrats” has been proven true.

  15. L Vogt on April 14th, 2005 at 10:37 pm

Fred, you are an idiot. You whacked the head off a good snake. A snake that could restore some sense of credibility about your moral character, and intellect. Fred, you killed a snake and we watched. A snake that is increasingly on an endangered list. A snake that feeds on rats. Rats like special interest groups that corrupt the politicians we vote into office. Politicians and opportunists like yourself, that run for office spewing rhetoric about lessening government and any other crap you can come up with about improving our lives. Fred, I like snakes. I hate rats.

  16. Steve on April 15th, 2005 at 4:40 am

Please keep the RINO list up and available. I want to contribute moneys to their opponents in the next election. I would also love it if you guys would keep track of these idiots and how they fare in the next election.

And yes, I’ve already contacted the state GOP to let them know that I’ve pulled my support and money from them until the cap is in and these RINOs are out.

    Keep you the great work!!

  17. Dave on April 15th, 2005 at 6:33 am

We will not forget who betrayed our party platform!

  18. Bob Mosely on April 15th, 2005 at 6:43 am

If we had a transmitter tower in Mexico that was powerful enough to cover all of Texas then the message reguarding the tax relief would get out in a loud clear voice. (with the skillful help of Edd, Dan and Paul). Perhaps our Clout and the help of a few good people in the radio tower and transmitter business could build one. Based on the list of rinos in the Dallas Ft. Worth area maybe we just need a second transmitter moved to that area.

  19. Truman Kerr on April 15th, 2005 at 6:59 am

2 Reps are from college towns. I believe students on those campuses vote locally, my 5 grandchildren do. ( Abilene and Lubbock) Kids probably have not noticed that in addition to opposing a reasonable tax at home that same rep helped raise the tuition rates at school.

  20. Kathi Smith on April 15th, 2005 at 7:08 am

I had decided I would pick one or two RINO’s to use my personal money to get out of office. Fred Hill of course is my “most wanted out of office” but now I found my second “most wanted out of office” Jodi Laubenberg. Now is time to research the best placement for signage and at least one billboard in both areas. How does this sound?

“Jodi Laubenberg voted to raise your property taxes 10% both in 2003 and the 2005 sessions. HOW MUCH MONEY DID SHE TAKE FROM YOUR BUDGET AT 10% PER YEAR?” VOTE NO! To Jodi Laubenberg

  21. Sam on April 15th, 2005 at 8:02 am

I am sure the fact that the Dallas-based radio station just started being a Clout supporter had a lot to do with the many legislators from there boldly going where they have always gone before, so what are the listeners up there saying about this? Do they have a LoneStarTimes-type blog to keep them apprised of what is happening with this? It would appear from the results that KSEV helped the Houston bloc get thoroughly instructed in these matters. I can’t help thinking a similar multi-pronged approach in Dallas would do a world of good as well.

  22. Lionel Garner on April 15th, 2005 at 8:14 am

Would you publish the list of Democrats who supported us on this issue. We should thank them.

  23. Bill on April 15th, 2005 at 8:29 am

I would like for someone to explain why the government can receive record tax income and still be completely broke. From the outside (private sector) it looks like the government has lost it’s ability to be a good-Stewart of the public trust.

In business people lose jobs for bad management. The Enron bill made CEO’s and CFO’s accountable, I think the same accountability needs to be applied to the government.

  24. Rene Cuenod on April 15th, 2005 at 8:35 am

The Rinos listed above have placed themselves on the “excrement roster”. ATTENTION: CORRECT THINKING REPUBLICANS if you live in one of the mentioned districts, please challenge these people in the primaries; it is the only way to purge the rinos from the ranks of Republicans! Rinos are worse than Democrats, at least with Democrats you know what you are dealing with! The rinos are the same as the Vichy French, they changed sides at the first sign of trouble and betrayed their countrymen. The rinos did exactly the same thing to the Republicans.

  25. Mark on April 15th, 2005 at 8:41 am

From your list, it looks like the Metroplex is giving the “Rednecks” from Houston the middle finger! This is the “us vs. them” republican party.

  26. Fran on April 15th, 2005 at 8:45 am

Almost daily, we receive requests for donations to the Republican Party. Most have postage paid return envelopes.
After the disgraceful way the RHINOs sabotaged us, we are returning the requests with a note telling them…..”NO MORE MONEY FROM US UNTIL WE ARE RID OF THOSE ON THE LIST” We are also sending a global email to all our Texas Friends, encouraging them to do the same. Other than a little of my time, it costs me ZIP-ZERO-NADA and believe me it will be worth it to get rid of those traitors.
Thanks for your stand and putting it on the line for the rest of us. Fran (on her soapbox again!)S.

  27. Ron Fontana on April 15th, 2005 at 9:06 am

Voters-”Get a rope”, as it was in the days of Marie Antoinette, these greedy/evil politicians will fail. The days of backslapping the voters and “give me your money,” are over! What we are witnessing, as evidenced by such deviations from our moral and constitutional principles, in society and with the power brokers of our governments, is a change in the dynasty known as the United States of America. By historical averages, dynasties last 300 years and change by radical and sadly to say, often violent behavior, of its society. We are now in the 230th year of our dynasty and as witnessed by many events, i.e. Terry Chiavo and the corruption of our government officials, The Revolution has begun, may GOD protect the United States of America!

  28. richard yates on April 15th, 2005 at 9:11 am

Clout should check into renting billboards in the busy areas of each of the RINO’s district. All it would need to say in bold letters is
REP’S NAME VOTED TO RAISE YOUR TAXES BY 10% PER YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Arthur Durham on April 15th, 2005 at 9:38 am

I hope to god these people here from the folks that lose there homes because of there non action.Just like 911 we will not forget!

  30. doyle fenley on April 15th, 2005 at 9:48 am

Since the majority of the Rinos are to be found in the DFW area, then that is where CLOUT should hunt. Lets blitz the DFW area with radio, phone and newspaper ads, articles and calls.

  31. J. P. Willis on April 15th, 2005 at 10:41 am

I’m so disgusted with the leadership that has ended up in Austin due to the apathy of the voting public.

I believe that a 3% cap was a little drastic (look at California) but with the huge increases our representatives really needed to debate and pass the 5% increase. I know, from past experience, that I now plan every year to protest my taxes. It is like income tax returns - a yearly project.

I have, over the past few years began looking at past voting of those on the ballot and voting for the best person for the job - not just a Republican. We have ended up with some very greedy and self-obsessed people in government.

As a Realtor, I have seen the first-time homebuyers be kicked out of the market because of the taxes included in their payments.

    I’m hoppin’ mad!

  32. Glenn Haller on April 15th, 2005 at 10:44 am

I am willing to do whatever it takes (legally, of course) to send a message to these politicians and any politicians who do not have the interests of their constituents in mind. Consider me one of your warriors who is willing to campaign to replace these people.

  33. John M. on April 15th, 2005 at 12:02 pm

A few years ago, I went through a divorce, followed by a delcline in the economy, and ended up out of work for four months. I did manage to find work again, but couldn’t pay the taxes on my house… now I’m gainfully employed and homeless.

  34. Jones Johnson on April 15th, 2005 at 12:32 pm

If Fred Hill doesn’t quit playing with Ho’s , he might catch something.

It would appear that the Texas legislature has a cancer in it - RINO. Time to see the doc and have it removed with the new and improved surgical device - the CLOUT knife. It can prove to be deadly to cancer while leaving the body ( Texas home owners )in much better shape.

  35. R. S. Cone on April 15th, 2005 at 1:57 pm

    Sirs,

I believe adoption of the proposed amendment (below) to both the state and federal constitutions will go a long way to getting power back into the hands of the people. (Wording is for amending the US Constitution, slight changes necessary for Texas.) We should be pushing as hard for term limiting these people as we are for tax reform. We may never get the one without the other.

    PROPOSED AMENDMENT

    Section 1.
No person shall be elected to the office of Senator more than twice, and no person who has held the office of Senator, or acted as Senator, for more than four years of a term to which some other person was elected Senator shall be elected to the office of Senator more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of Senator when this Article was proposed by Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of Senator, or acting as Senator, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of Senator or acting as Senator during the remainder of such term.
    Section 2.
No person shall be elected to the office of Representative more than six times, and no person who has held the office of Representative, or acted as Representative, for more than one year of a term to which some other person was elected Representative shall be elected to the office of Representative more than five times. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of Representative when this Article was proposed by Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of Representative, or acting as Representative, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of Representative or acting as Representative during the remainder of such term.

    Regards,

  36. Tom Boone on April 15th, 2005 at 5:11 pm

Fred Hill was one of the biggest opponets to this bill and it seems funny that 19 of these RINOs are from the DFW Area. I wonder if (Hopefully, soon to be) Mr. Fred Hill had any influence on this…
If Mr. Hill and his 18 DFW cronies are kicked out in the primary, maybe the other 17 will get the message, and change their vote!!!
Better of course would be that all 36 RINOs found themselves out of office. That would really send the message that happy voters keep you in office, not happy lobbiests.

  37. Beverly May on April 15th, 2005 at 7:56 pm

I agree with Sugarland, but respectfully like to add that they must lose their government pensions, pay into Social Security and Medicare, no hugh retirement plans, and definitely they cannot vote themselves a pay raise and sneak it in on bills, as they did recently. (Austin Statesman reported that they tacked onto the Education bill a nice 30% pay raise for themselves).

  38. dac on April 15th, 2005 at 8:05 pm

I noticed TAC’s website is touting an article by Carlos Guerra of the San Antonio Express-News
dated 04/12/2005. In this article, Guerra writes:

‘The Legislative Budget Board says that through 2010, this bill will take $1.2 billion from the Foundation School Fund, $466 million from cities, $428 million from counties and more from special districts and will increase the cost of producing tax notices by adding seven calculations to the 10 now required.’

I will not dispute the numbers as I do not have them handy. However, I will take issue with the language. How can we ‘take’ something that has not even been given yet? The language implies ‘they’ already have this money in their coffers (or are counting their chickens before they hatch). The article also (intentionally?) fails to make clear that these ‘taken funds’ are actually calculated increases in anticpated budgets based on rising appraisal values.

As for the increased cost of producing tax notices, I am sure Mr. Bettencourt could tell us how long it will take his computer people to plug in a few formulas and how much extra electricity his computers will use to do a few elementary math calculations.

These people think we are stupid.

  39. john hayes on April 15th, 2005 at 8:15 pm

Dan and Ed and the entire ksev gang have done two huge things for me and so many others.

They have shown and continue to demonstrate they unselfishly care about issues that punish the Texas Property owner.

Second, they have transformed a customarily dull and boring Texas political scene into an interesting, if not gripping drama. This as they have stripped away the curtain behind which RINOS and other undesirables sought to ply their semi concealed vendetta against the Texas taxpayer.

I’m not sure which of the two benefits I appreciate the most.

What I know for sure is that I applaud the courage and honesty of the folks leding the charge at KSEV and pledge to them my undying support for their efforts on my behalf.

    Thanks to all of you.

  40. Lori Tidwell on April 15th, 2005 at 9:16 pm

I am a councilmember in the small town of Daisetta,TX and proud to say that my representative was not on the list of RINOs. Way to go, Ted Poe. I am a republican and signed the petition to lower the appraisal cap and also emailed my representative who emailed me back letting me know that he supported the lowering of the appraisal cap. I am sorely disappointed in the RINOs. I have lived in the same house for 15 years with no improvements and the appraisal has increased by 50%. Why don’t homes and land depreciate like everything else you buy? My house is over 50 years old. You wouldn’t think that it would increase in value. I know that I couldn’t sell my home for the amount that the appraisal district in my county has placed on it. Will this ever get to go before our representatives again? What really aggravates me is that the voters have a tendency to reelect the same old candidates and let them continue to do this kind of thing to them over and over again. Get out and vote and let them know how you feel by putting someone else in their place.

  41. Jim Barker on April 15th, 2005 at 10:14 pm

I think we need not go haywire and spend our time, money and energy on all the rinos. Better that we concentrate our efforts on two high profile politicos in Austin: Fred Hill and David Dewhurst. Both of these guys have a clear record of standing in our way of getting meaningful tax relief and both hold a high profile in Repbulican party politics at the state level. What a great and meaningful message we can send to the rino club if we can eliminate both of these guys from the Austin gang of theives.

Let’s consider all our options before we jump. I am afraid if we jump too quickly, we will be shooting buckshot and most likely won’t eradicate anyone.

  42. Jerry Holt on April 16th, 2005 at 7:54 am

Hello Lori Tidwell. Ted Poe can’t be on the list as he is a member of the US House of Representatives. These 36 RINOs ho’s are in the State House. Don’t know who your state rep is but please look again and if he/she is on it then please work for their defeat next year. As for Ted Poe I believe he would have voted for the HJR 35appraissal cap.

  43. John Lainhart on April 16th, 2005 at 3:04 pm

I dont believe it was uncommon for liberals to switch parties years ago just to get elected in the state of Texas these must have been some of them vote them out

  44. Tom Strawther on April 16th, 2005 at 3:49 pm

I lived in Nacogdoches many years while Roy Blake Sr. was a distinguished Democrat Senator for that district. Now the area is predominately Repulican. Roy Jr. is a likeable type guy but maybe his politics and “RINO” make a perfect marriage.

  45. art brunelle on April 16th, 2005 at 9:32 pm

in the next election if a new man comes along and is willing to take this rhino’s place i will vote for him. if not i will vote democrate and try again in two years.

  46. Woody Edinburgh on April 16th, 2005 at 9:46 pm

Yes, THE TIME HAS COME, for all to join together and let those who chose to go against the voter, know, that we will not stand for it any longer. For those thirty-six “Revolt-icans”, all of the “Dumb-ocrats” and especially the Houston mayor “Mr. Boob White”, enjoy the time that remains, your chance for another term looks very, very dim.

  47. Ed Johnson on April 16th, 2005 at 10:07 pm

I will get the Voter data and vote Histories on these 36 Reps. Dist. I will also do a phone match

  48. Lee Holsenbeck on April 17th, 2005 at 11:47 am

no doubt that the infamous 36 really need to hear it from every citizen of texas and every personal property owner, but i would like to give some public appreciation to reps. wooley, eissler, hope, howard, olivo, elkins, callegari and bohac. i emailed and/or called all these reps. several times and they did exactly as they said and followed the GOP platform. hopefully, the voters will make it so all republicans follow the GOP platform.

  49. willie miers on April 17th, 2005 at 3:50 pm

i believe i will calculate what my tax savings would have been and divide it among the opponents of the 36 rinos in the next election cycle

  50. Mike Smith on April 17th, 2005 at 4:57 pm

If this doesn’t happen by June, I’ll do it.

I plan on writing each and every RINO and ask each of them why they are acting like waterboys for their local politicians. To cement this, I plan on including a publicity photograph of each one of them in each letter with an added watermark over their picture. The watermark will state “{insert local mayor’s name}’s waterboy”.

Ray Allen’s letter will have his picture and this watermark: “Charles England’s Waterboy”. I’ll copy anyone I can find that might want a copy, particularily any “primary opposition” that needs a billboard idea.

  51. Lori Tidwell on April 17th, 2005 at 7:26 pm

    Jerry Holt,
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I just put the wrong name in there I meant to put Mr. John C. Otto’s name in there. I was just really tired the night I wrote that. I am just really pleased with both my state officials and confused their names. Just wish I could say the same for all the other “republicans” representing the rest of Texas.

  52. Paul Gebolys on April 18th, 2005 at 6:41 am

Fred Hill was right, “The time to kill a snake is when you’ve got the hoe in your hand.”.

I have contacted my family & friends in Richardson and reminded them that they can remove a snake in their midst next primary season, March 2006. He voted aginst all Texas homeowners, he voted aginst the written position of his party. It is time to pick up the primary ballot and “hoe” him out.

  53. robert johnson on April 18th, 2005 at 8:06 am

If a line was drawn across our State starting at El Paso going due East to the Lousisana border, 32 of the 36 RHINO’s represent areas above it. Almost all are located in the Dallas/FtWorth and North Texas part of our State.
What conclusion can be drawn from this fact?

  54. Norma Coufal on April 18th, 2005 at 12:32 pm

These guys (RINOs) are much worse than the guys in Arizona that are trying to help protect our borders (they’re doing it for no pay and certain people call them vigilantes!). It’s time to send a message to the RINOs. WE DON’T WANT YOU AND YOUR KIND ANYMORE!!!!!! LET’S GET RID OF THEM AS SOON AS WE CAN!!!

Getting the list is done. What kind of tactics will be used in taking these and other tax and spend city, county and state officials out of office so we the tax payers can get some property tax relief before we lose our homes. Think of very inexpensive methods such as placing the candidates name on a piece of paper and placing a little sentence such as MR. or Mrs. Elected Officials’ taxs have not gone while ours have gone up 21% in the last two years - take this strip of paper and place it on windshield in parking lots at park and rides, grocery store and malls. In expensive but very effective as it gets the public thinking about why their taxes are going up while the incumbents taxes are staying low. Hopefully the voter will be so enraged they will tell their friends and family what a skunk this official is and the official will be voted out of office. Repeat this often enough and eventually the politicians get the message and give us tax payers some property tax relief from the politicians excess and wasteful spending.
