I would assume those special forces have been sent to Argentina post haste just to make sure NOBODY “takes him out.”

Here is Robertson said. “You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it,” Robertson said. “It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war … and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”

“We don’t need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator,” he continued. “It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the COVERT OPERATIVES do the job and then get it over with.”

This is in the context that he had ALREADY been talking about COVERT operatives. I had already stated I thought he was over the top on the statement BUT I also know how the media gives a 2second blip of a statement and the idea “He URGES US to kill Venezuela Dictator Chavez” is just deceptive.
So don’t give me this “Is this what Jesus would do” cause I ain’t going for it, because the only time that comes out of the mouth of most lefties is when they are trying to be super spiritual and insulting. Don’t forget the FORGIVENESS LINE, rememeber that was big one for Bill Clinton.
Was he over the line, I think so, becuase of his position, but does he right to say it I think so. So there ya go, BASH ME all you want I don’t care.
You also ought to add to the bash the media talking heads, sitting there all pious and tacky on FOX, talking about how irrelevant Robertson is!
PS by the way he was right we need attention on Chavez! and now maybe someone will pay attention.

Pat Robertson is entitled to his opinion, that entitlement cannot be taken way from him. Lately he has been making statements which are in direct conflict with Christian values.
Run the other way when you see him coming, he is an embarassement.
Even God did not endorse the so called man of God who was once a presidential candidate.
That speaks volumes for Pat Robertson.

Jean, I think your comments are right on.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a Christian and I am generally leary of televangelists such as Pat Robertson, although he probably earns a ’slightly above neutral’ rating compared to other televangelists. Anybody remember Bob Tilton? Don’t get me started…

That said, I don’t think that liberals (or anybody else) will find too many people, including Christians, that believe that what Pat Robertson said was very intelligent, expecially considering his position of influence within the Christian community.

I also think that the media, pretty much without fail, took his comments and cast them in the worst possible light. I believe from reading his initial comments (even before his apology came out today) that he was expressing his frustration with Mr. Chavez. The man basically said that “If Hugo Chavez wants to accuse the US of plotting to assassinate him, why don’t we go ahead and oblige him?”

Like I said, not the best thing to say, but consider this: Liberal attacks of “what would Jesus do?” in cases like this are not, in my opinion, honest. First of all, all that the accuser is trying to accomplish is showing up the Christian “enemy” as a hypocrite, as if saying “Aha! See, the holier-than-thou Christian isn’t so perfect after all!” Second, most people who sarcastically bandy about statements like “What would Jesus do?” in that matter show themselves up as hypocrites in many cases, because they don’t care one whit what Jesus would do. And don’t even get me started on “He who is without sin, cast the first stone”. I guarantee you that Jesus wasn’t saying that only perfect people could stand against evil. If that were the case, then nobody could lift a finger to deal with crime, etc. in our society.

Finally, I believe a real Christian should tell you right up front that they aren’t any better than anybody else, they just have the assurance of knowing Jesus as savior, and are hopefully showing the evidence of such in a progressive change in their life. Christians have not arrived, they are on a journey.

Thank you Jim you articulated that better than I did. Saying someone “wants to kill or urges the US to kill” is way out of context of what he said.
O’Reilly last night said “why does Robertson want to kill Chavez?’ See that was what I was getting at, and I heard those comments all over tv. Robertson didn’t say he wanted to kill, that is just perposderous. I am sure there are literalist out there who can’t take the line in respect to the whole commentary, but so be it. When Chavez takes his little missiles from russia or his nukes from Iran, and fires them off, they will being saying, hmmm maybe we should have taken some heed to Pat’s warning.
Ps I am not follower of Robertson’s, I do rather like and respect him though. I do listen to his news segments alot because his foreign correspondence is good and not Commercially paid for, you would be surprised what you miss on the MSM.

Sometimes people need killing. It’s just that simple.

What’s infuriating is that these same bleeding heart liberalcrats will whine when someone wants to ‘take out’ a bad guy, and we must be oh so politically correct - but then say they want to kill President Bush! Even make t-shirts with such slogans on it.

To borrow from Napolean Dynamite - “idiots!”

Hugo Chavez is a dangeous man. If he is allowed to continue in power, his goal is to destabalize
Central and South America. He is also a threat
to the United States as well, because he supports
radical Islamist and will help them get into the
U.S. He is a supporter of Castro’s communism.

I believe that Pat Robertson like many other right
minded Americans are frustrated with this situation. Better to take him out now, before we
    have to do it militarily.

Why dont we round up all the illegal aliens, put them to work building houses in the 100 degree Houston heat and pay them 5 bucks an hour. Then the ones that dont want that work, get um to cut our yards for $15. The women we’ll get to clean our toilets for $20 a day.If they get hurt, the hell with them, we’ll get some more! There’s plenty more where they came from! Yeh lets show these people real work and maybe they will stop coming here.

Just make sure we keep some to run the taco wagon. I dont know what kind of animal they put in those tacos, they sure are good whatever they are.Yeee Haaaw!
