Oh man, that is priceless.
Hook ‘em Horns!
As an Aggie myself, I must defend this photo. Clearly, the intention of this store owner was to spare his store front the unsightly appearance of numerous NAIL HOLES in the front of his builing.
This Aggie is actually quite brilliant. While all of you others have permanently damaged the front of your building, this store front remains pristine.
Once again, the superior intelligence of the Aggie mind shows through.
Gig’em!
I must also compliment this particular Aggie for his acumen in recognizing that it is much easier to install the boards inside……..QUICKER TOO - all the better to finish early and hit the designated EVACUATION ROUTE:
* LSU grads: I-10 East
* UT grads: 290 West
* A&M grads: 610
One other thing: I’m sure this Aggie learned this technique through experience: he very likely tried to install the boards on the outside but kept breaking the glass when he drove the nails in.
He didn’t use nails. He used velcro inside the store. Brilliant idea! He can remove the boards and use the velcro again and again to put his sale signs and posters back in the windows or to make the mannikins stand up straight!
He must have been either an engineering or marketing major! Perhaps both!
Way to go Aggies from a Razorback. We do the same thing for tornadoes up in the hills! (”Septin’ we don’t have glass in the winders!)
This is priceless! Keep it up guys!
Soooooie Pig!
Maybe this Aggie thought the eye of the hurricane was going to hit the rear of the building. The boards would protect the glass better from the inside.
I heard a story about a guy who cut down the trees in front of his house before the storm so they wouldnt fall on it. Must have been an Aggie.
And smartun’ at that! I wish I’d thought of that. Hurricane Rita knocked down a dead tree in my yard, a full day-and-a-half before she made landfall….she was nice about it, though: laid it down away from the house, cut the trunk clean through, ’bout 2 feet from the ground.
Obviously, the store made the mistake of hiring Longhorns as employees.
Hmm, book store, journalism, they got everything else wrong.
Or maybe they were keeping themselves from evacuating.
Actually, it’s because the exterior of the building is brick, and the owners decided it would be cheaper to replace the windows than to replace the exterior wall after mounting plywood outside.
No,
It is becuase when I graduted from Bryan High School back in the early 70’s it was decided that the Aggie Book store was such a place of high dollar over priced return books that students would break in from the outstide to steal books….
Whew… That felt almost as good as sex.
SOB’s..
Deke.
Actually not, chademe! Filling up drill holes in mortar cheaper than replacing those large plate glass windows? I don’t think so. I’ve lived in hurricane prone areas for fifty years and I have never seen windows boarded from the inside anywhere except CS. Also, Friday I saw a woman driving around Bryan with the windows of her car taped! You are either an Aggie or an Aggie parent trying to cover up the ignorance. This is one of the dumbest college towns that I have ever been in.

College Station
Ol’ Army Lou is an original. Clearly he has embraced the responsibility of the Corps, past and present, to preserve the tradition of the school. This is an old Army tactic, to intentionally make Aggies appear incompetent so that others underestimate them. Ever heard of a dumb Aggie? We certainly hope so! GigEM!
Ol’ Army Lou is dead as are the brains of many Ags.
I know this is an older post, but I finally figured it out. They were protecting the windows from the participants at the hurricane party that was being held inside.

Not to let reality get in the way of humor…but that is actually a not very recent picture of the OLD Loupots location which was boarded up from the inside when the store closed and moved to a new location.
Still a pretty good Aggie joke, no?
As an Aggie myself, it really made perfect sense to me. Plywood is expensive, who would put it outside and let it get rained on. This way, they can use it again when the next hurricane comes through the gulf.
