Please, when will we see you all go after the Jury as well.

Lets do some “opo” on Delay in the 80’s, or 90’s

They’re ALL politicians, and by definition tainted at best. I am certain that anybody with contacts and/or enough determination can dig up dirt on just about any of them…

Agreed, I’d like to see some “opo” on Delay. Funny how we were admonished that a politicians’ character really isn’t an issue during Clinton’s impeachment. Clearly it is an issue. Character, integrity, and morals are something we have a right to expect from any politician of any political party. Much like sports “stars”, politicians have taken much liberty with their status as role models. I know getting involved is the key to overcoming this problem, but it makes me want to go live in the mountains somewhere and do my best to ignore society.

/grrrrrrrrrrrr

Go right ahead, Feagan, and let us know what you dig up.

“opo” on Delay? My God! Man where have you been?
Either you are so blindly partisan or you have your head so far up you know where, there’s no chance of sunshine.
Delay has been racked over the coals by every lib hack, but still there’s no concrete evidence. Try reading Molly Ivins columns.
You really underestimate the lib media. If there was something from the 80’s or 90’s, don’t you think they would have found it?
Or are you holding some secret piece of evidence and waiting to spring it at the last minute; aka the forged National Guard documents of Bill Burkett and Dan Rather?
Your record on this blog leaves no doubt of your ultra left mind set.
you have become comical and your credibility is on a downhill slide. Me think’s you are actually employed by the comical.

Feagan, yes lets talk about the jury. Let’s talk about how Ronnie Earle had to shop 3 grand juries to indict. But for this reply let’s focus on a Jury Foreman. You are not going to like the source but it is the only place I could find the transcript. This story was discussed on Edd Hendees morning show on KSEV.
Rush Limbaugh had this story how Jury Foreman William Gibson had his mind already made up about Delay before Ronnie Earle presented his evidence.

Travis County, Texas, KLBJ, 590 AM, the host, Mark Caesar, is interviewing William Gibson who was the jury foreman on the first DeLay indictment case. And we now know this jury would not indict for money laundering or anything other than conspiracy. Now, the funny thing about this interview is that the host, Mark Caesar, pretty much thinks it’s over. He’s ready to close out the interview, and then Gibson decides to launch in and say something else. Gibson apparently finished with the interview, but then he says, “Wait, wait. Those ads, the Texas Association of Business, remember those ads?” And then Gibson says this.

GIBSON: I just looked at that before I was ever on the Grand Jury. They were telling people how to vote, this is before I ever got on the Grand Jury. Being a citizen of this town, I looked at those things and felt that, “Hey those are telling people how to vote.”

CAESAR: Now, which ads are these, Mr. Gibson?

GIBSON: These are the ones in the paper from the TAB that were put in your local paper.

CAESAR: All right.

GIBSON: Telling people how to vote, (unintelligble), but the so-called freedom of speech, they were putting something in the paper for people to look at and let them make their decision.

CAESAR: Okay.

GIBSON: But looking at those ads, people with average intelligence could tell what they were there for.

CAESAR: All right. Texas Association of Business ads.

RUSH: And then Gibson continued.

GIBSON: And all this came out way before I was ever on the grand jury, these mailers were in your paper, in the Austin papers, everybody else’s paper. They were flooding the market around here. That those were way before I ever went on the grand jury, my decision was based upon those, not based upon what might have happened in the grand jury room.

CAESAR: Oh, okay. So your mind was made up after you learned about the ads.

GIBSON: Right, those ads way back, telling people how, their so called freedom of speech deal. I looked at it as they’re just telling people, “Go vote for that person, go vote for that person.”

CAESAR: So they didn’t have the persuade you in the grand jury with any evidence, you already –

GIBSON: That was already public knowledge there. That way back (unintelligible) that is what I based my information on. They stated their positions, and I could state my position by saying, “Hey, I don’t like that.”

How in the hell did The Hill publish that article in the condition it’s in? It looks like nothing more than a bunch of cobbled together notes on one employee’s rant about the employer he was fired from.

And this tidbit? Describing the probe of a deaf-school administrator, he quotes one source, former County Attorney Margaret Moore, as telling him, “I can’t get any cooperation out [of] Ronnie Earle or Steve McCleery. McCleery is an idiot, and Earle’s up on dope all the time.” Right, that’s real damning. Sounds like a lot of wild claims without a speck of evidence. But I suppose that’s all some Republicans have to latch onto.

#7,
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Being an admitted conservative, I’m looking forward, with relish, to this Delay trial and the tidbits that are yet to be revealed on both sides, especially Mr. Earle.
Remember; when you point a finger there will be 2 pointing back at you.

9. Bobby Warren on October 6th, 2005 at 2:02 pm

Then I suppose all this finger pointing has come back full circle from the Clinton impeachment, right? Or Iran-Contra? Or Watergate?

I’m just pointing out that the article says nothing to Ronnie Earle’s character - it says wonders about the clear need for the author to be screened for ADHD.

10. rj on October 6th, 2005 at 3:24 pm

Clinton fell on his own sword numerous times and embarrassed the US, Iran-Contra has exonerated Reagan and all Nixon had to do was to not try to cover up a botched break in by overzealous staffers.
Ronnie Earls actions speaks volumes about his character. No more articles are needed. I believe that when the dust settles concerning Delays indictments, Mr. Earle will have cemented his own lackluster fate and will reveal this as nothing more than a partisan attack. How many is this now for him, 12 or 13 indictments on dubious evidence?

Congressman Ted Poe sat as a judge through 25,000 cases in 22 years. He said he’s never seen anything as outrageous and ludicrous as the indictment Ronnie Earle has presented. Congressman Poe further said that if Earle had brought these charges to him, they would have been dismissed immediately, and Mr. Earle would have received “a long sermon on the abuse of prosecutorial powers”.

That is just the problem we have in our court system today. There are not enough Justice Poes out there to put the bull cahcah stamp on these types of cases.

13. Feagan on October 6th, 2005 at 4:26 pm

In October of 2003 Scott McClellan told us that he had gone to both Karl Rove and Lewis “Scooter” Libby to gain their assurance they had nothing to do with “Plamegate”. He said they both were adamant that they had NO involvement.

Can someone please tell me then why it would be necessary for Karl Rove to make his 4th trip to testify before the grand jury ? I mean how hard would it be to say, sorry I had no involvement.

14. squawkbox on October 6th, 2005 at 4:34 pm

Ummm Feagan let’s stay on topic, DeLay. You brought it up and that is what the blog item is about.

15. squawkbox on October 6th, 2005 at 4:35 pm

Umm sorry the original topic is Ronnie Earle and Feagan brought up DeLay.
