Greatest game? I dont think so. It was a great playoff game for sure. But when the game went into extra innings it became an old fashioned pitchers duel. There were no play saving catches, dives, pick offs or anything out of just an ordinary pop fly out or routine ground ball out.

the weirdest thing about those two home runs?

The same audience member caught both homers…

Gregg, come on now. It was the greatest game. Never before has so much been on the line. It was a fantastic pitcher’s duel. The team with the pitching, but no offense versus the team with offense, but no pitching. Offense versus defense. Pitcher versus batter. Which one will win? A question for the ages. Would you rather have a team full of great hitters or a bullpen full of great pitchers? Defense won out.

Now if only Dennis Franchione would read this.

    Michael,
I said it was a great game but greatest ever? Ever is a long time. When I was a kid we had a sandlot game that lasted all day. Never was so much on the line. It was getting dark and our moms all came out to get us, well Bobby the kid next door really cranked A 3-2 2 OUT pitch over the neighbors fence. Won the game in the 50th inning. That was the greatest game ever! ;-)

Gregg, I stand (or sit, as it was) corrected. Hope the memory is as fresh as ever, though I don’t have much doubt about that.
