Unfortunately, I was at Reliant Stadium watching the Texans lose. But you should have heard the fans at Reliant when updates to the Astros were announced. There was more cheering for the Astros than for the Texans.
My compliments to the crew at Reliant for post-football activities. When the football game was over, the Reliant folks asked everyone to stay as they broadcast the Astros game on the big screen. It’s nice to see this support from across town!
My wife’s company is headquartered in Atlanta. It was fun hearing her gloat to her boss on the phone.
I guess 18 innings is a post-season game length record, but the longest game according to Guinness was:
Longest Baseball Game
The Chicago White Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers played a game lasting 8 hours and 6 minutes on May 9, 1984. The Chicago White Sox eventually won 7-6 in the 25th inning.
Born and raised in Houston,44years, yeh this is fun but I’ll be happy when they are in AND WIN the World Series. Then they can be called a champion like the Rockets. We’ve all seen this before too many times only to go home disapointed. Go Astros!
Not that this parallels some of the other major events that have happened in the past, (I.E. Pearl Harbor, 9-11, The Columbia Space Shuttle, etc.) but I’d venture to say that anyone who follows basball will remember where they were and whom they were with for this game. I surely will.
PS I know I left some major events out that you remember. Please don’t add to the list and make any comments. This is about the baseball game. And, what a game! While I am not one would call an avid fan and you can count the number of games I saw in person this year on no hands, the game was exciting! Go ‘Stros!
Re #2: Edd may have mis-spoken. I read through the boxscore quickly this morning and I counted 23 Astros in the game, so the two missing were the two you mentioned, Andy Petitte and Roy Oswalt. Those were the only two… What a bunch of lazy bums those two!!
I can’t wait - the rotation is still going to be in place, and I think that the Stros can give the Cardinals all they can handle. The Cardinals are the better team, but does anyone here want to question the heart and desire of this Astros team? Not me. Go Stros!
Oh, and I was going westbound on I-10 at Park Row when the home run was hit! I was trying to make it home from work to watch the rest of the game, but listening to Milo was “almost” as good as seeing it.

No problem. 9 would be a struggle for me, so hats off to both teams for the hard work.
