Maybe we can offer some incentives to the group of people who tend to loot and riot at the drop of a hat to move to Iraq. There they can have at it with real thugs. So how tough they really are.
Those so-called protesters turned rioters and looters were looking for any excuse to take what is not theirs. Their thinking is they were deprived of any opportunity in this great country of ours to earn it, so they decided to steal it. So what if those they robbed from actually worked to get it—they have it, the looters don’t so therefore it is okay to take it. Could this be a race issue, if it is black on black crime???? I think not. A thief is a thief, no matter what color, no matter what justification they can think of for their actions.
Toledo was the town where I grew up (moved here in ‘84). I tried to get ahold of a friend who lives outside of Toledo (Maumee, if you’re familiar with NW Ohio) but no answer. I’ll try again tonight. Trying to get the inside scoop, so to speak.
I love Texas… hurricanes and all.
Bravo for the Iraqi people. Let’s hope this might be a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel we find ourselves in. As for our neighbors in Ohio…whatever happened to “civil” disobedience?
Good quote from the Toledo Chief of Police, Mike Navarre:
“Unfortunately, they [the marchers] have the right under the First Amendment, and as distasteful as it is, we have to protect them,” he said. “These groups thrive on this kind of attention and what happened yesterday was a victory for them.”
Indeed, whatever happened to civil disobedience? In losing sight of it, a few let the extremists win at the expense of many.
Well here is someting that Iraq has in common with Ohio: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051018/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq
