Dr. Mahmoud Amadinejad? A missed opportunity. Or a lateral thinker. Or an American puppet?

When this man was elected, I felt that he was the one who would be the Vaclav Havel or Nelson Mandela or whoever of Iran. I thought he’d be the one who:

    1. Would get rid of Sharia.
    2. Get rid of the clergy.
    3. Give the people real change.
    4. Liberalise things like alcohol and films for all.
    5. Do all these things by pretending to be a hardline regime supporter and then turning things around.

Instead, he seems to decide to go back. Yes, we all knew he was meant to be ‘hardline’ but he is a Doctorate Degree graduate and - while he may still be doing a lateral thinking solution that will eventually destroy the stoneage elements of Iranian politics - NO ONE thought he really was. Afterall, he is a non-cleric. And an educated man. So am I, and I can’t believe in half of that old religious stuff. I’m sure, so must Dr. Ahmadinejad.

His remarks against Israel are the kind of stupidity one expects from the illiterate Taliban. Yes, he may even be right about certain Israeli policy, but for an educated man to say such silly stuff only gets you into the same problem Saddam got into!! And, Bush is only waiting for a chance!!

Or is he an American-planted agent paid to embarras and obliterate the Iranian regime by pretending to fight for “Islam” (i.e. the first protestant Christians who said that Jesus was only a prophet afterall and non the son of god, as god did not have a son!! Bush is a later protestant who believed Jesus) but really is making excuses for Bush’s Iran project. It seems somehow likely.

Dr. Ahmadinejad came out of nowhere to beat the wily Hashemi Rafsanjani, who was clever enough to improve ties with the West to make the regime survive. The Iranian people want reform and must be in the know that Ahmadinejad is their reformer, maybe a lateral thinking one.

Why? Because it is stupid to say something when Bush is looking at a chance to shoot you down. Ali Khamenei is reportedly on bad terms with Ahmadinejad because of his blatant remarks. Someone in a third world nation who is on dangerously bad terms with a war-mongering superpower who happens to be in the two countries next door just does not make those remarks if they plan to survive. And I don’t think Dr. Ahmadinejad is suicidal. No, he’s an American spy and he’s gonna give Bush his excuse to get rid of the Islamic Republic…

    Iran, 2011?

Head of State: Shah Reza Pahlavi.
Prime Minister: Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the secular academic pro-Western pro-Israeli former CIA agent.

But, I hope the Iranian people do not suffer like the Iraqi people in this senseless war.
    Jack Hennessey.

    How convenient?

Ahmadinejad: Israel must be wiped off the face of the earth.
Bush: This is proof we are right about the Iranians and their nuclear ambitions.

Nicely set up, lads!! But you don’t fool me. As I said, I believe George Bush and Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have 1 common enemy: The Islamic Republic of Iran. Both want to overthrow it, both want to rule it. And maybe Mahmoud wants the top job as the new Shah. Poor or Reza Pahlavi will have to be Prime Minister or President afterall.

    One last comment:

What is different about Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Khomeini?

Khomeini fell out with the Shah’s regime, and - as a consequence - America. He used Islamic imagery and the Palestine-Israel conflict to gain support in his Muslim country. But: there were also reports that the Ayatollah was a communist/socialist and introduced a state planned economy similar to his Northern Neighbour. Khomeini aligned himself basically with the Soviets when necessary and he had many communists in his various governments. The communists and clergy were natural allies as they hated the Shah. Of course, some communists and clergy fell out, and this always happens.

Ahmadinejad, reportedly, was more anti-Soviet than anti-US in his student days and suggested taking the Soviet embassy. If so, what would Iran have to do? The Soviets would be across the border to invade in a flash and the Iranians would have to (yes) get the US onboard to defend them!!

Khomeini could say what he wanted (he did say many similar remarks about Israel, US, UK, even - on a milder scale - the Russians, etc.) knowing that (in cold war times) neither superpower weren’t really going to go to war over something an Iranian leader said. Khomeini also said a lot, but he never really meant it as a lot of what he said did not happen!! He said these things often to boost his popularity as much as anything. He may not even have believed or have an opinion on it himself and he probably didn’t. And if Khomeini did really get in trouble with one of his remarks, he had the Soviets to help him out!

Saddam, like Khomeini, thought he would get away with saying what he liked and also said similar things about Israel, the US, the UK, etc. but he failed to notice the fact that the Russians and Americans really were friends and Russia was not going to oppose America on his behalf.

Ahmadinejad: He knows he can’t say what he likes like Ayatollah Khomeini. He knows what happened to Saddam. So, he’s getting the go-ahead to say things that will damage the credibility of the Islamic Republic (the current interests of the IRI are to engage with the West in trade, in economics, and in strategic relationships - in other words, the Rafsanjanis want Iran to be an ally of the US to become more powerful and even the Khameineis (always a pragmatist when the chips are down)grudgingly agree). Bush wants nothing more than to have the IRI hated around the world (he would not get that off of a true IRI stalwart like Hashemi Rafsanjani who would be more interested in making IRI a western ally than to get rid of the IRI and form a new regime style) and nothing would be more ideal for this than have his agent planted as Iranian President to say things that would damage the IRI. I may be wrong, but what other motive would Ahmadinejad have? He hardly believes his own third world army are up to much. He hardly believes that the Russians and the Chinese would intervene on his behalf (they didn’t for Saddam) and he has now even alienated the EU (former allies). Yes, he must have US blessing.
