The very reason I strongly believe in the death penalty!

He should be in a casket! Not running loose!

H&KUSP45, should take of this moving target. Just curious, from my consealed handgun class, I dont recall…In protecting your family and property you could be held civil liable, but in this case…since he is a dangerious threat, on death role and a fugitive, could his family still sue?

    “could his family still sue”

    Short answer ….. Yep.

Sure, the scumbag’s family could sue. Doesn’t mean they’re gonna win, though.

I’m no lawyer, but it seems to me that you’re probably safe using reasonable force to defend your family against a known killer, ESPECIALLY when the Sheriff’s Department has demonstrated an inability to protect the public.

We need to remember that the Harris County Sheriffs Office is understaffed and over crowded, this is what allows this sort of a thing to happen.

It is obivious that this piece of human garbage got help from inside and outside the jail. Also, porper jail procedures were not followed. This has nothing to do with “understaffed and overcrowded.” I would call on Harris County authorities to replace everyone responsible for this travesty from the top down; however, I’m not going to hold my breath.

Are there others on this blog who suspect David Dow and the anti- death penalty morons of being involved in this? According to reports, Thompson was visited by some unidentified lawyer right before his escape. I believe he was passed the ID card and final instructions at that time.

Matt, I’m not a lawyer either, but I do know the law in this instance: you may use deadly force to protect and defend your person, family, and home if you believe your life or someone else’s to be in immenent danger. You may also use deadly force to prevent someone from stealing your property, such as your car, tv, computer, etc. In Texas, you have even more leeway to use deadly force for protection if you are threatened/victimized on your property at night.

Just another case of incompentence and stupidity of the Harris County law enforcement community. Men with big guns and even bigger egos think they can do no wrong. I guess this is an oop’s

I read where they caught him in Lousiana. Ya’ll can put yer guns back in the gun case now!
Think they’ll return him to the same jail where he escaped from?
