I’ve been reading with great distress of the riots by young Muslims in Parisian suburbs, now spreading to other parts of the country. Last November, I blogged on the dramatic demographic shifts in old Europe and their portent for coming strife. Back then I said,
"The Muslim worldview (at least the more strident flavor which seems to be in effect in most Mid East nations) assumes there is a Supreme Being and that this being directs followers to spread the faith, by violent means, if necessary. People adhering to passive, "Live and let live" secularism simply have no ethical basis or spiritual strength to resist determined fanatics. Europe must return to the loving and powerful God of the Bible and the Great Commission zeal of the Lord Jesus Christ to forestall a dark future. "
Now, nearly a year hence, the darkness is upon France’s doorstep and it grieves me greatly. Like other conservatives, I’ve occassionally joked about French passivity and double dealing. But I take no pleasure in the spectacle that is now unfolding across the pond. I pray this will spark a revival and return to the true God of the Universe by our Old World kin.

Postscript: On the topic of radical Islam, Victor Davis Hansen once again nails it. Money quote:
"Meanwhile, Westerners far too rarely publicly denounce radical Islam for its sick, anti-Semitic, anti-female, anti-American, and anti-modernist rhetoric. "
You don’t say? Denouncing radical Islam would require a moral standard against which to judge it and the moral strength to announce said judgment. We need to regain the moral clarity to call a spade a spade. But where can such moral vigor be found? Read the whole post.

“Catastrophe” seems an apt term. Is the UK next? Or will it be us?
French Catastrophe? Isn’t that redundant? My heart goes out the innocent French citizens involved. This story proves the axiom “give and inch, and they take a mile.” Mike, as for the UK or US…I for one have updated my Y2K/hurricane/emergency closet with a copy of the Constitution and extra ammo for when the “Bramanti” hits the fan.

Do you think the same thing can’t happn here? There is a VERY sizable Islamic population in the greater Detroit area, as well as in our neck of the woods in Sugarland. We need to get rid of the concept of “diversity tolerance” and go back to the concept of promoting assimilation into the mainstream culture.
The police could stop this in a second. Start firing into the crowd. Dead Muslims cant riot.

You are so right TexasTommy. We as a nation and all of Europe need to wake up and come against this evil. It is spreading very quickly through Europe and even in our own country. This is very close to overtaking France. They need to get their heads out of the sand.
We have Iran’s top guy calling for Israel to be wiped off the face of the earth. They should be kicked out of the UN. BTW we need to make the UN The United Democratic Nations and get the rest out.
It is amazing at how so many will not stand up against this stuff and call it what it is, anti-social, evil, hatred.
But then again we are living in the time were the Bible says “They will call good evil and evil good”.

IMHO, we in America are in for many years of the millitant islamist’s attacks on anything they decide is “Evil” that they are coached to believe in by their most violent religious leaders. This can not go on any longer. Tony Blair has a good solution: If you are one of these religious leaders or a person who advocates violence, and you are living in his (or our) country, your ass is gone to your country of orrigin. Sounds like a good plan to me!
What is happening in France has already happened on a much larger scale in Los Angeles only few years ago . It was supposed to bring justice from Police beating to one of the brothers, I am referring to Rodney King ofcourse.
The rioters to my best knowlege were not muslim immigrants.
We need to clean up our own backyard before pointing fingers at others.

The French invited all the problems they have. Unfortunately, so have we. We just haven’t gotten ours, yet.
Mainland Europe is in the middle of a civil war and they haven’t figured it out yet. Their socialist systems only make the problem worse and the history of the region makes them hesitent to crack down.
#11 Our problems weren’t so much invited as they were generated by illegal, unwanted, illiterate, fence climbing Latinos, and “30-40″ year old muslim students who just happened to overstay their visa’s a couple years too long.
The U.S. needs to build THE GREAT Wall OF The United States to keep them all out,unless they have an education and contribute to this country’s society.
After reading about what is going on in France and the fact that the Muslim world wants to force their way of life and rule upon us, maybe it is time to consider the resurrection of the Crusades of yesteryear. There is a general dislike of the Muslim world for their actions and at some point the world will turn against them in a very harsh manner. You will have no one to blame but your self for not getting rid of the militant people of your religion. If you good Muslims of the world don’t do something to stop the militants Islamic, the world will at some point do it for you and in the process the good Muslims with suffer the most.
As far has I am concerned be done with them.
As usual, many (not all) Americans only see the simplistic picture of world events. The Muslim religion, of which I have as much time for as Christianity, is as violent as your own. What the hell are you doing in Iraq, really? I bet the Iraqi’s are so glad America helped them out - NOT!
Unfortunately the “happy melting pot” does not work in practise as human predjustice always rears its ugly head. Muslims do need to integrate into the society that they have chosen to live, but it must be hard with bigoted pricks like many of the writers here.
In what way, exactly, is modern Christianity violent? And don’t point to the Salem Witch Trials or the Crusades…
