The Chronicle leaves me in stitches
by Owen Courrèges · 11/10/2005 9:17 amIn its predictable editorial slamming U.S. District Judge Ken Hoyt’s ruling that invalidated some contract provision of Mayor White’s horrible SafeClear program, the Chronicle actually manages to make a pretty funny joke:
Whatever one might think of the Safe Clear program’s details, its rationale from the start was about motorist safety rather than making money.
Hahahahahahahahaha! That was a good one. Next we’ll hear that Mayor White’s other programs — such as cracking down on jaywalkers and installing red light cameras — were also always about safety. Man, these guys should do stand-up!

I, for one, will sleep soundly tonight… knowing that Mayor Bill White is looking out for my safety… with no regard for money, only principle…

Retch! Yak! Ralph! Earl!
It’s kinda like the oil baron warmongers saying we’re in Iraq to protect America, while they’re all making fortunes and we’re paying thru the nose.
Muwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I didn’t realize that Lee Raymond or Jeroen van der Veer were warmongers. Imagine my surprise.
You forgot about the delivery truck parking space issue for downtown businesses.
Owen, Owen, Owen -
Or, to quote Ed Koch - “The people have spoken and now the people must pay.”
And so it is. We get what we elect. ~:o)
Until the city drops the hammer on the parking ticket scofflaws (the biggest sinners of which are either employed by or work in the various courts and law offices throughout the downtown area) I’ll not be impressed by any mouthing of good intentions by any city officials.
