Of course politics is not for Sunday school teachers. And a country cannot properly be led by people who don’t have a practical understanding of human nature in all its often tawdry cynicism and self-interest. A worldly appreciation of these human attributes is always a necessary part of leadership.

But there is a vital difference between understanding that cynicism exists in the world and succumbing to it. And it is the signature attribute of second-rate leaders, courtiers and second-year college students (sophomores) that in their effort to appear worldly, they embrace cynicism. No aspiring wise guy wants to appear naive. Washington journalists are particularly driven not to appear naive.

Interestingly, this really addresses a concern I have with Dan Patrick. Excellent article on more than one level for me. Instances like this show me that He does have a plan.

Anybody with any common sense knows you never tell the enemy when you are leaving. Because if they know then they can wait until you leave then takeover. Why fight if don’t have to??? The Democrats call for troop withdraws only plays into the hands of the terrorist. But then it’s the Democrats objective to make the President look bad and have this defeatist attitude, both in the war on terror and in our economy, how else can they get back into power. But remember, they DON’T have a plan for fixing things, only for getting back into power.

The cynic in me wants to point out that it now appears that the folks who have been urging us to pull for purely political motives, now seems to be saying that when the troops DO come home, it will be because Bush is doing it for a political advantage.

Sarge, what you say is true however it all could have been dealt with years ago and crushed if only GWB and the Republicans had gone after the Pelosis,Kennedys,Kerrys and Rieds like Clinton would have done had the roles been reversed. GWB tried to be nice and it got him in the trouble he’s in now. I question GWB leadership and judgement now based on his lousy performace dealing with something as simple to defeat as lying Liberals.

If they can roll him, the terrorists surley will be able to also.

Not sure what you mean by “gone after” Gregg. Kennedy and Kerry are there because the p[eope of Massachusetts vote them in. No matter how stupid or idiotic the are, they keep getting votes from the citizens of that state. Pelosi is from California, which is just Massachusetss, but bigger and with a more understandable accent. Same with Reid.

Of course, you could have gone with the alternative to GWB’s leadership: John Kerry.

    hmmmm…..

I disagree with Blankley on most issues, but I hope his article is true. I don’t believe that Mr. Bush will allow politics to enter into an exit strategy. There will probably be Republicans in competitive districts that will clamor for him to do so, but I believe he will refuse.

I think this is very wise Please read.

    Subject: Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Theodore Roosevelt on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

We would not have nearly the problems we do today if we would go by these words.

***God Bless America*** inspite of the evil ones trying to destroy her…
