dern it… when is one gonna be schedulled in the Cypress area?!

  2. Wino on January 19th, 2006 at 10:31 am

Friday, 6:00 pm, southeast side of town.

I work on the west side. With I10 construction, and leaving work at exactly 5:00, I should be at the barblog before last call. Barely.

  3. An Observer on January 19th, 2006 at 10:37 am

Hey, I may actually attend this one.

  4. Matt "Zilla" Bramanti on January 19th, 2006 at 10:43 am

#1: Next month. Any suggestions for a place?
    #3: Don’t worry, Wino. I’ll be there. :)

  5. jimb on January 19th, 2006 at 10:46 am

Dang. This one is situated directly between my daughter’s b-day (the 26th) and my anniversary (the 28th). I am afraid I won’t be able to make it…

  6. An Observer on January 19th, 2006 at 10:54 am

#5 - I’ll bend an eldow for ya. LOL

  7. The Dude on January 19th, 2006 at 10:56 am

Cub Scouts pinewood derby weigh-in that night. Crap… and I swore I was gonna make this one. I guess there’s always next month.

  8. Wino on January 19th, 2006 at 11:05 am

That’ll teach you all to have lives.

  9. pmartin on January 19th, 2006 at 11:08 am

Matt, how about the Cy-Fair area next month (where I live) or the Galleria area (where I work)?

  10. gmland on January 19th, 2006 at 1:04 pm

In the Cypress area there is a bar called “Pickles” on Kluge that caters to the influenced…

  11. Smacktle on January 19th, 2006 at 2:10 pm

I am planning to go at some point, Webster is a

  13. Matt "Zilla" Bramanti on January 19th, 2006 at 3:30 pm

Come on, kid, borrow mom’s station wagon and meet us there. A round of Shirley Temples is on me.

  14. JRB on January 19th, 2006 at 3:44 pm

I live on the east side of Tomball off Kuykendal and only go south of 1960 for jury duty. How about something up here? Gunny’s would have been perfect but they tore it down and put up a convience store. There is a likely looking place on Spring - Cypress, but, I’m not sure about the name of the joint. Get back to you later with more details.

  15. kidwittehtape on January 19th, 2006 at 3:54 pm

    13 lol

  16. Hogfan on January 19th, 2006 at 4:00 pm

Good spot. Never one to turn down a chance at a pint.

  17. Maltboy! on January 19th, 2006 at 4:07 pm

Outpost Tavern is the best dive in town. Lots of astronauts hang out there. They’ve filmed several movies there too. Space Cowboys is the only one that comes to mind right now. Need beer.

  18. kidwittehtape on January 19th, 2006 at 4:10 pm

    space cowboys, good movie

  19. ubu on January 21st, 2006 at 10:29 am

Heh. All you west and north side folks got nothing to complain about. Us po’ civil servants can’t live in them fancy expensive neighborhoods; I’m way out east in the (mostly) white ghetto. Of course, I work downtown, so it’s not too bad. Hm… Webster. The beltway does make that attractive…

  20. Golden Adam on January 21st, 2006 at 5:42 pm

When the traveling trainwreck heads north to South Dallas, may I recommend The Fox and Hound? Its at 45 and Tamina/Research Forest near The Woodlands.

  21. Matt "Zilla" Bramanti on January 22nd, 2006 at 1:51 am

Good suggestion, Adam. There’s a Fox and Hound out on the westside, and it’s a cool joint. It’s on the list for consideration for the February tour stop.

  22. squawkbox on January 26th, 2006 at 12:52 pm

The Fox and Hound? Its at 45 and Tamina/Research Forest near The Woodlands.

Now that one even I could make easily by hitch hiking.

  23. CRK on January 26th, 2006 at 1:14 pm

Whatever happened to the idea of an actually centrally located place to meet?

  24. Sonia E. Alaniz on January 26th, 2006 at 1:26 pm

Little ole ladies do not drive at night, but, ya’ll have a great time. Later folks, time to do payroll,

  25. Matt "Zilla" Bramanti on January 26th, 2006 at 1:27 pm

23: Popular demand, CRK. Everyone wants one in their neck of the woods, and we’ve got readers over a very far-flung area. We’ll be back inside the loop soon.

  26. MAV on January 26th, 2006 at 1:55 pm

Ah great, the Outpost Tavern is a really cool kinda dive kinda place with allot of Atmosphere. It has been saved from the wrecking ball a few times because of its location; you’ll see when you get there. It’s close to many peoples heart. Yes those swinging doors stood out in the Space Cowboys. I’m glad your having it here in my back yard. I will be there…

  27. john beard on January 26th, 2006 at 2:10 pm

There is also a Fox and Hound at Fuqua/I45s. None are cool, all are part of a chain similar to Bennigan’s etc. that are barely tolerable.

Cool bars never ever exist in more than one.

You probably will not see a astronaut at the OutPost. But it is a cool dive and looks like a old house. The Quality Inn and Super 8 on Nasa Rd 1 are next door if you want to plan on not driving home.

  28. pmartin on January 26th, 2006 at 2:42 pm

I may go. Depends on how Dan Patrick’s “nazis” are working me on Friday. :-) Aubry Theode worked me half to death last Saturday!

  29. pmartin on January 26th, 2006 at 3:15 pm

Re 28 - Oops, I didn’t mean to break Godwin’s law! What I meant were “taskmasters” or “slavedrivers.” :-)

Just kidding! I love volunteering for Dan!
