Fur flying on City Council
by The Panda Man · 02/01/2006 12:01 pmAccording to KPRC-TV, there may be a cat fight developing on Houston City Council. At-large councilwoman Shelley Sekula-Gibbs and Mayor pro-tem Carol Alvarado went at it on Tuesday.
Sekula-Gibbs and other council members said Alvarado repeatedly called her by a derogatory name.
"Every time I bring up the word T-ML … expletive depletives come out of her mouth. That’s unfortunate, but actually they’ve been coming out all along. Would you like to speak in the microphone?" Sekula-Gibbs said to Alvarado.
When Alvarado was asked what she said to Sekula-Gibbs, she replied, "No, I mean, you can listen to the tape. There’s nothing on the mic."
It is not clear what “expletive depletives” are, but Mayor White rode to the rescue by telling the council members to settle their differences like the women in that beer commercial who ripped each other’s clothes off.
Actually, he just told them to fight for their neighborhoods instead of with each other.
A trio of would-be carjackers picked the wrong victim in Jersey Village (northwest Houston) yesterday.
A female off-duty Richmond police officer put her training into action when three alleged carjackers forced her into her SUV and attempted to steal it.
…
Two of the three suspects were armed, according to Jersey Village Police. One suspect pushed Officer Holly Marie Mong over into the passenger seat.Authorities said the 22-year-old officer’s instincts and training kicked in, even though she’d been with the department less than six months.
"At that time she pulled her weapon and fired several rounds, striking both of the assailants," said Jersey Village Police Chief Charles Wedemeyer.
Authorities said Mong shot and killed one suspect and shot another suspect five times.
Six out of six — now that’s what I call gun control!

HEADLINE: Patrols increased to curb public sex at Memorial Park
Crime at Memorial park is back in the news. But it’s not what you might think.
Police have arrested four people at the park in the last several weeks.
There is an increase in police patrols there, but not because anyone has been attacked.
Officers are trying to prevent public lewdness and some of it is happening right out in the open along Picnic Lane.
Riding through Memorial Park’s Picnic Lane loop is popular among bicyclists. But it is also a hotspot for illicit rendezvous.
Houston Police Officer Kenny Cech took 11 News into the woods next to the bike loop and next to an abandoned restroom.
He showed where he arrested two men having sex just last Sunday—All happening in broad daylight.
Not for long. Not anymore.
Have a great day and a good time commenting!
