More “Marks of a True Leader”
by David Benzion · 02/17/2006 11:01 amblogHouston writer (and FOX News contributor) Anne Linehan has made appropriate note of some of the post-"Bonusgate" leadership qualities being displayed by Houston Mayor Pro Tem Carol Alvarado.
Personally, our favorite quote from the article was this one:
Asked whether she felt responsible, given that she had oversight of the office, she replied, "My responsibility, once something is brought to my attention, is to correct it, to make sure procedures are put in place, to make sure that something like this never happens again."
(Hat-tip: Houston Chronicle)
Get that?
Having oversight for an office doesn’t mean you are responsible for making sure things are run correctly from the outset– it only means that WHEN (and assuming IF) something is brought to your attention by someone else, you then do something to correct the problem.
Sounds like the Texas Municipal League, in selecting their President-elect, made a perfect choice.

Oneth again? Twice in day? No applause please!
I will try that one on my superiors and see how long before I’m out on my derriere. Any guesses?
Alvarado has no friends in council or the mayor’s office right now, and after seeing the news report last night, the receivers of the bonuses aren’t going to be counted her friends either. She’s culpable, and she’s going down.
Ode to Carol Alvarado -
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you. But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl’s empty and so is your head.
Perfect choice, however look at the list of past presidents and see who they include…..

see who from Houston has represented us there before…
Who needs to be frugal when it is only tax payer’s money? They seem to have deep pockets, at least that is how the politicians think.
I’d give 10 to 1 odds that if you asked 100 career politicians what the definition of frugal was 95% of them would get it wrong. Then if you asked these same people what it means to keep a budget you would have the same % that would not know what that means either….
The Tax payers are our piggy bank.
Alvarado needs to be fired from the Mayor Pro-Tem office and resign from city council. If she did not know what was going on, she is one absolutely incompetent public offical. Karma is one heck of a thing!
Ms. Alvarado has been way so busy ditsing her fellow council members (in public and near a live mic) as well as being loyal to TML — she hasn’t had the time to oversee her own staff. Of course she will not take responsibilty, because “personal responsibility” no longer exists!

Sadly, this is probably true. Anyone honestly think the Dims will get rid of their trash? Don’t look for it to happen any time soon.
PASSING THE “BUCK”…IN TERMS OF MONEY AND RESPONSIBILITY

what ever happen to the democrat mantra “the buck stops here” when one of their’s get entangled in the web questionablity…
will alvarado put the blame on mayor white….?
where’s the chant…”alvarado lied, her political career died” ?
HEY GUYS! Carol Alvarado is on KSEV talking to Chris and Ryan.
Now she is claiming she has no responsibility because it was done by a subordinate who evidently had always done everything right. SIGH! Like was said earlier, she will continue to take no responsibility if she is to save her a$$. It seems to me that the buck stops here does not apply to her! It appears she is doing some spin job. Bettencourt, however, is not Chris Bagala and it will be interesting to hear his hardball questions.
#3, Imagine that. . a border Ho ‘going down’. . . LOL (how do you say LOL in Hissspanish?)
