Mean and Green

Look out, here comes a meaner greener Al Gore

Like a completely refurbished "pre-owned vehicle," Al Gore seems to be positioning himself to Hillary Clinton’s left and greener than John Kerry for a run at the 2008 Democratic nomination for president. His slogan might well read "reelect Al Gore."

Or so says Dick Morris. It seems that Dick thinks Al is some king of environmental prophets and the hurricanes of last year proved Al "swami" Gore correct.

And Gore may be a man whose time has come in his party. It was he who warned of climate change and predicted its consequences. Hurricane Katrina was just a fulfillment of the prophesies Gore wrote about in his late-1980s book "Earth in the Balance."

But wait a minute. Didn’t Al Gore get defeated the last time he ran? Why yes he did and we all know that he was cheated out of his rightful place by the Electoral College. History may be on Alswami’s side though. Read more

Chris Begala reports this afternoon that multiple sources confirm to him that Mayor White has asked for Carol Alvarado’s resignation as Mayor Pro-Tem. As of the broadcast (approximately 6:00pm), that resignation has not been forthcoming. He further reports that a number of subpoenas have been issued by the DA’s office in connection with the scandal now that OIG has issued their report. If Alvarado does not resign, the mayor will be forced to ask for a vote by the city council to remove her. That vote will most assuredly pass. My guess, and this is only a guess, is that there is something that Ms. Alvarado either has on the mayor or wants to make him think she does and she feels she can use that information to buy some advantage, although for the life of me I cannot see what advantage it might be unless it is immunity from prosecution in exchange for testimony for something or someone bigger and/or more systematic. I’ve said it before and I reiterate: It is my suspicion that the rot goes much deeper, and is much more widespread than the mayor and/or council wants known. I do not believe the rot from the Brown administration has been sufficiently expunged and I think Alvarado knows where the bodies lay. This was the reason I feel that OIG was tapped instead of someone like the DA whom the mayor cannot control. Time will hopefully tell…..

This is appalling:

A woman who accused a group of young men in a Disney foreign employee program of rape appears to have been a willing participant, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.

Orange County sheriff’s investigators said that a videotape surfaced showing the woman having sex with at least four men at the Gables Commons Apartments.

The woman claimed she was walking home early Sunday morning when the men attacked her.

A source has told WESH NewsChannel 2 that one of the men involved in the incident apparently videotaped the encounter, which clearly showed the woman was an active participant.

Not only did this woman harm the reputations of four men, she also hurts the cases of real rape victims by adding fuel to the "women make up rapes" fire.

On a side note, it bothers me that the woman’s name isn’t being released. I can understand the motive for not releasing the names of rape victims, since they might be targeted for reprisal by their assailants. But this woman is not a rape victim. She’s just another scumbag. A really slutty one.

While perusing the blogosphere in my ever vigilant quest for truth or something resembling it, I came across this little tidbit over at Hyscience. It seems John Zogby, that bastion of liberal polling bias, has a brother named James. James is the president of the Arab American League. One must wonder then, does Zogby have an agenda that we have not so far grasped? Is his agenda, not to spread liberalism but perhaps instead Dhimmitude? Read the link and tell me what you think.

A lot of us are confused as to what "torture" really is and is not.

We may refer to a spouse’s cooking as "torture".

Some may think that George W. Bush being President constitutes "torture".

Then there is Abu-Ghraib type torture.

But just so you don’t forget, Michael J. Totten has just toured one of Saddam Hussien’s secret police headquarter in the Kurdish territory.  It is now a memorial to those that were tortured and killed by Saddam’s forces.  He has pictures to accompany his report.

THIS ENTIRE POST IS THE TRUE DEFINTION OF THE WORD "TORTURE"

There is not much for me to quote here, with out the pictures.

But there is one part, that as a mother, I cannot fathom. Hell, as a human being I cannot fathom this:

The hardest thing to see was the cell used to hold children before they were murdered. My translator Alan read some of the messages carved into the wall.

“I was ten years old. But they changed my age to 18 for execution.”

"Dear Mom and Dad. I am going to be executed by the Baath.  I will not see you again.

Remember, definitions are everything in understanding anything.

The next time you see Saddam Hussein’s smiling face on TV or hear someone say, "Saddam wasn’t that bad", think about the children and the people he had tortured and executed. Think about this post.

Then thank God you weren’t faced with such things.

Everyone’s favorite ex-vice president, Algore, has been keeping himself busy by entertaining crowds with his virulent speeches against the Bush administration. The former veep has even taken to haranguing penguins.

Paramount to release "An Inconvenient Truth" May 26th

Paramount’s new specialty division has acquired worldwide rights to Participant Prods.’ global-warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," featuring Al Gore.

It seems our little aquatic avian friends will soon be homeless as global warming turns the ice caps into deserts.

According to the Internet Movie Database:

"Al Gore strips his presentations of politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting message," said Guggenheim.

Of course, the “haunting message” of the “charming, funny, and engaging” penguin protector is already well known.

"It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely," said Gore.

Gore appears to be fashioning himself into the “green” Michael Moore.

“Stop driving! Save the penguins! Buy my book and see my movie!”

Fred Hill’s copy of the Dallas Morning News landed like a big pile of crap on his lawn this morning [Emphasis' in bold added by LST]:

HEADLINE: Radio host shaking up Senate race

Is the staid and steady Texas Senate ready for a talk show host?

Longtime Houston radio and TV personality Dan Patrick thinks so, and he appears to be riding his name identification and strong following as a conservative Christian voice on local airwaves to a lead in the race for a hotly contested Senate seat in Houston.

[snip]

It is perhaps the most competitive and expensive legislative race in the state this year – and it’s being watched closely by political experts because of its stable of strong candidates vying to win a seat in the Legislature’s upper chamber.

And a Patrick win could have broad repercussions for the political climate in Austin, already tense from failures over school finance.

[snip]

Mr. Patrick was a sports anchor for a Houston television station in the 1980s before switching to radio and becoming one of the better recognized talk show hosts in the area. His conservative outlook on most issues – including rising property taxes – has attracted a loyal audience.

At a candidate forum last week, Mr. Patrick continued his line of attack on state officials and the Legislature – honed during his radio shows last year when he ripped lawmakers for not cutting rising property taxes.

"Nothing ever gets solved, but our taxes keep going up," he told the audience. He delivered his comments as though still on the radio, in crisp sound bites with few verbal stumbles.

[LST EDITOR'S NOTE: Albeit lacking the hip, Gen-X sensibility that appeals to the much coveted younger demographics that favor one of his frequent substitute hosts.]

"Hamric will do well with women, which is very important in a GOP primary," Dr. [Robert] Stein [of Rice University] said. "I would suspect that if she gets into a runoff with Patrick, you will see the Republicans pull out all the stops for her. Dan Patrick is not seen as a reliable vote [in the Legislature] by some Republicans."

But Dr. Stein said that by representing conservative anger over the Senate’s more moderate approach to taxes and keeping himself in the spotlight, Mr. Patrick may have created a new Republican campaign model.

"If he is successful," Dr. Stein said, "you will see more people do the same thing."

The Houston Chronicle Editorial Board’s Republican primary endorsements are published in today’s edition.

And Dan Patrick appears to have dodged another bullet, avoiding the certain doom that would have descended upon his campaign if the Chronically Biased antique-media gatekeepers down at 801 Texas Ave had been spiteful enough to use a little reverse psychology and endorse him. (They’re backing Hamric).

Coupled with Jonny "Appleseed" Lindsay’s recent knuckle-rapping of idiotic taxpayers too stupid to know what’s best for them, and the choice for grassroots conservative Republicans in District 7 couldn’t be clearer.

Today is the last day of early voting. Election day is next Tuesday, March 7th.

The next State Senator from District 7 will either be "Your Voice"… or the pawn of insider-incumbents and liberal, downtown opinion-Mandarins.

The choice is yours.

But only if you vote.

More evidence that the political/legal/media/academic class is preparing to wage an all out assault on Al-Fat-ea– in his "Washington Wire" column from today’s Wall Street Journal, John Harwood notes that…

In [the] current Congress, 55 bills introduced contain the word "obesity"– approaching the number containing "gun."

Twinkies are the new "assault rifle".

I’m betting not one of those 55 mentions of the word "obesity" refers to federal spending or the growth of the bureaucracy.

Happy Friday, folks. This week in review:

Oh, and some guy is running for something. I’m gonna vote for him.

Just another bestiality-approving BC alum.

Apparently Rep. David Paul Linsky is a real dog lover. You see, the Democratic state legislator wants to legalize sex with animals in the commonwealth of Massachusetts. Here’s part of his bill:

SECTION 7. Section 34 of Chapter 272 is hereby repealed.

That section reads as follows:

Section 34. Whoever commits the abominable and detestable crime against nature, either with mankind or with a beast, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than twenty years.

By the way, Linsky went to Boston College.
