Chicago Requires Driver’s Ed for the Blind (Yahoo News)

CHICAGO - Most high school students eagerly await the day they pass driver’s education class. But 16-year-old Mayra Ramirez is indifferent about it. Ramirez is blind, yet she and dozens of other visually impaired sophomores in Chicago schools are required to pass a written rules-of-the-road exam in order to graduate — a rule they say takes time away from subjects they might actually use.

Hundreds of school districts in Illinois require students to pass driver’s ed, although the state only requires that districts offer the courses. A state education official says districts that require it should exempt disabled students.

It’s the weekend!!!

It really has been a great week.  Even though we have had our usual load of bad news, with Dan Patrick’s win, the overall balance, in my opinion, tips to GOOD WEEK.  Every week has bad news, but how often does a week see the fruition of grass roots work? (Almost a revolution if you ask me). Grass roots opinion killed the UAE port deal too.  So, it looks like grass roots/the public ruled this week! What’s your opinion?

What are you doing this weekend? Regardless of  what you doing, woking or kicking back, have a great one!!
