    I have two presumptions.

1 A body has been uncovered that is so rotten and smelly that it can’t be ignored.

2 Someone going down has said “I’m not going down by myself.”

The GOP & opposition have acceped a resignation in lieu of a prosecution. At least he’s not resigning “to spend more time with my family”

Having said this, I have lived in Tom’s district since 1973, longer than he has been in office. He has done a lot of good for the Sugarland area. Those things I will miss.

I don’t totally disagree with #1, but there could also be other reasons. Whatever, I just hope that Lampson doesn’t win because his name has been out there for quite some time. Name recognition means a lot. Who is the likely republican replacement?

  3. MAXAMUS on April 4th, 2006 at 7:20 am

    NO RINO’s…No RINO’s…No RINO’s

  4. DanielJames on April 4th, 2006 at 7:29 am

If ever I land in trouble I want Edd in my corner. The cheerleading is never ending. I am happy to see Tom go and Now I would like to see Culberson go! Edd mentoned that Culberson was silent during all this. Yepper! Damn straight…he did not want his foot in the same stinky sheeet that DeLay stepped in.

On CAFTA alone do I think they should be removed!

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/27/AR2005072701195.html

The people did not want it…yet it happened. Hmmm maybe they were lobbied?

    I want America first politicians!

    Anything else is second rate.

The stage is set to blame others for a Lampson victory. If Lampson wins…its DeLays fault!

If he is innocent he must have never seen the movie Rocky! Eye of the tiger???

This is a sad day in America. Keep up the good work Mr Delay don’t let the liberals get you down.
You will always have my support.

  6. gadboy on April 4th, 2006 at 8:06 am

This is a great day for America. It has restored my faith that truth and justice can win in the end.

  7. The Dude on April 4th, 2006 at 8:49 am

    #6,

Does that mean we can expect Harry Reid’s resignation next? You know… since truth and justice are winning.

  8. headshaker on April 4th, 2006 at 8:51 am

Yes, it’s truly a sad day for Corporate America.

Hey, maybe I could move back down there and run for Tom’s seat! I used to live in his district after all.

    Just kidding.

Personally I would love to have a person like Edd in my corner. Just would like to know what Tom Delay has done, more so I would like to know what Ronny Earle and and Demo’s do. Lie and slander, that is there best defense cause they sure can’t do it on their own…. If Tom Delay is guilty of something it will come out but if he is not I am sure Mr. Yuk Earle will apologize.

#7 re: #6 - as well as Kennedy, Pelosi, Kerry, et al… Gadboy - your faith is restored in the false allegations and negative media that American politics has become?

You, as well as those named above and all that hold your beliefs, remain the problem…

  13. DanielJames on April 4th, 2006 at 9:36 am

Like I said for all the DeLay fans…CAFTA alone should have had him juiced!

Now maybe ya’ll can come up with a very likeable grassroots man to replace him…You somebody that thinks America first???

I wonder what his record for voting on outsourcing is?

  14. navymom on April 4th, 2006 at 9:56 am

    BLAH BLAH BLAH as usual!

#15 - What a joke. If she represented me, I think I’d move out of the country.

What a bunch of Bull Hockey. No more pork on the Sugerland griddle.

‘lawyer for Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Georgia congresswoman who had an altercation with a Capitol Police officer, says she was “just a victim of being in Congress while black.”‘ Does this mean she will turn white when she is no longer in Congress?

  19. Rahman on April 4th, 2006 at 4:03 pm

The replacement for Mr Delay should have Delays photo on his desk reminding him on a daily basis to diet instead of feasting on 5 course meal, play less golf and last but not least take vacations in Tyler , Texas instead of Hawai.

  20. Rahman on April 4th, 2006 at 4:14 pm

I have still 3 empty card boxes left for immediate shipment for those who continue to support the fallen Congressman. These supporters ARE the problem and not the solution, because knowing that the congressman was “bent” they went ahead and helped him win narrow victory and Mr. Delay did not have the decency to tell 22nd District residents that he will not be in a position to represent them since Tony singing would be too overwhelming.
They both deserve each other, I mean Delay and those who are still supporting him.

  21. Matt "Zilla" Bramanti on April 4th, 2006 at 4:35 pm

Yeah, damn that stupid electorate! Who do these people — if we can even call them people — think they are?

Don’t they realize that their little “votes” get in the way of a Rahman-led benevolent dictatorship?

  22. neocon on April 4th, 2006 at 6:42 pm

It is my opinion that Delay decided not to run because he faced a mudslinging campaign by Nick Lampson. He was afraid he would spend all of the campaign defending himself from the well-funded Lampson, without any discussion of the issues. He, in my opinion, decided to save his district from that travesty and let another Republican run. Nick Lampson must be seething by now! Lampson and his aids have probably spent thousands of dollars trying to make Delay look bad. IMHO, this was one smart move.

I’ll believe he is guilty when I see it. If he is not, he should go after Ronnie Earle for prosecutorial misconduct and get the ba$t&*d out of office. You will see some legislative changes regarding this out-of-control district attorney.

Liberals, laugh all you want, but mark my words. Guys, see a little farther than your noses! :)

  23. Willie on April 4th, 2006 at 7:25 pm

Mr. DeLay chose to step down because he’s about to be fingered by some (if not all) of his ex-staffers- those who have pleaded guilty as part of the Abramhoff investigation. There is no other reason. Even with his diminished support in the 22nd, DeLay was a shoo-in to defeat Lampson in November. The fact that he quit during his term (with a comfortable re-election on the near horizon) says more about his mindset (i.e. fear) than any “for the good of the party” pablum being foisted upon his gullible followers.

  24. gadboy on April 4th, 2006 at 7:48 pm

I woory about my elected representative John Culberson. He didn’t go to the bathroom without talking to Tom Delay first. What is he going to do now?

  25. neocon on April 4th, 2006 at 8:16 pm

    Rahman

Read my #22 above. Sorry to burst your bubble! It ain’t gonna happen! Good try though
