Let me count the lies. First of all, be sure you know that every instance of “immigrants” that follows should actually readh “illegal immigrants”:

    1. “…that honors the contributions of immigrants…”

    2. “provides a path toward citizenship for undocumented (read: illegal) immigrants”

    3. “We stood up to the Republicans who saw immigration reform as a chance to punish immigrants.”

    4. “We eliminated provisions that would criminalize immigrants and anyone who would help them.”

    5. ““Democrats were able to achieve all of this, despite attempts by Senate Republican Majority Leader Frist to cater to the narrowest interests in his party and impose a wrongheaded enforcement only bill.”

    6. “We understand what this fight is all about.”

    7. (remember, each instance of immigrant is actually to be read “illegal immigrant”) “We are a nation of immigrants and we are a nation that is strengthened because of immigrant contributions to our economy and communities. As someone married to an immigrant, I am reminded every day by my wife of how you can love your roots and love your heritage even as you fulfill the full measure of your love of this country and your loyalty as a United States citizen.”

    8. “…our immigration system is broken—but Democrats recognize that we can’t fix it unless we do this comprehensively and do it right.”

    9. “Democrats will continue to advocate for tough and smart policies that help secure all Latino families and all Americans.”

That’s at least 9, not including the half-truths and undercurrents of dishonesty that run throughout the article.

A friend of mine put it best. These guys lie when the truth sounds better. How can anybody not understand this?

Just goes to show you that neither political party can be trusted with immigration policy…

How about asking Mr Kennedy to drive the illegal migrants across the river to “freedom”. Wonder how many of them are aware of his aquatic history?

John Kerry really spent Christmas Eve on a swift boat in the Rio Grande just outside of Lajitas.

#1 - You missed a couple of pretty big whoppers in the first paragraph (not counting the “good morning” greeting): “comprehensive immigration reform” and “provides real security for America.” True reform just ain’t there and it won’t do much of anything for security without closing down the borders.

  5. malcolm on April 4th, 2006 at 4:49 pm

For heaven’s sake..They’re illegal! Doesn’t anyone in congress want to admit what that means? Both parties are so afraid of loosing their political clout with the hispanics that they will say or do about anything to keep from loosing them, including NOT closing the #$#$ing border!
It’s all about politics and not doing their constitutionally sworn duty. Most everything we hear or read about this rhetoric and political posturing. Fire the lot of them! I plan on doing my part next election and beyond!
#3 Buddy LOL! reckon he was pandering to the southern ketchup/catsup lobby?

#8 - has the honorable Reverend Jesse Jackson weighed in on this yet - how about ol’ Al Sharpie? Haven’t heard from them.

    I agree this is ridiculous.

ILLEGAL immigration costs the Texas taxpayers roughly 4.7 Billion dollars a year.

    4 billion just in education.

It is ludacris that we are even having a debate over ILLEGAL immigration.

What about ILLEGAL drugs? ILLEGAL murders?

Hell that is a great article simply substitute Mexican With USA and it will work nicely.

Remember Ted the Killer Kennedy is trying to buy his way into heaven. Boy I would hate to be in line behind him on Judgement Day - God would certainly be pissed off after reviewing his record and listening to all his legal talk about why and how he had done what was correct.

  14. Awol on April 5th, 2006 at 10:25 pm

This is just a push by Hilary, Kerry, and the Democrats to secure the 11 million ILLEGAL immigrants’ votes in the future…

    Hillary ‘08!
