Drug War Victory Watch (Part II)
by David Benzion · 04/20/2006 5:41 amCourtesy the Houston Chronicle:
The deputy commander of a counter-narcotics task force in Laredo and a suspected accomplice allegedly extorted tens of thousands of dollars from drug traffickers, shielded them from other agents and gave them a place to store cocaine, according to a federal indictment unsealed on Wednesday.
Julio Alfonso Lopez, 45, of Zapata, was scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate today. [snip] Lopez is accused of accepting four bribes totalling $44,500 …
With the arrest of Commander Lopez, no doubt the last law enforcement officer to be corrupted by the overwhelming financial resources of the drug barons has been taken off the streets– and total, complete Victory! in the War on Drugs is just around the corner.

NOT!!
I must agree that the way to cut the drug traffick is to cut the users. Otherwise there will always be trafficking. And the way to cut the users? Make people responsible for what they do; let them know that in our society you cannot feel good all the time. And that people must take responsibility for their actions.
How many people, when they are pulled over for whatever, such as not using their turn signal, when asked if their are drugs in their car, lie, knowing that what they are doing is wrong. And what is the percentage of them that are found to possess drugs? There is no place to hide; why not just admit it to the cops, and to yourself as well. I think many people who start using drugs think they won’d get hooked, so lie, especially to themselves.
What;s this about Cy-Fair proposing to drug test at random
is this is afterschool x activities are all students?
Are the Teachers and employees included?
If there is a market, there will be drugs. Spraying fields in Colombia and trying to stop the shipments from getting here is a losing battle. When there is so much money involved, someone will find a way to grow it and get it to market.
There is no war on drugs. They do not fight. There is an illegal persecution of citizens. This is an illegal war on citizens. It is the same as prohibition. There can be no victory, only senseless loss of life and and unjustified confiscation of citizens’ property. The confiscation laws are already abused by money hungry state and local agencies. Everything in our justice system is about money. I never would have believed if I had not witnessed it myself. It is an outrage. Corruption exists throughout our law enforcement agencies. Another outrage. These people are no better than the ones they persecute.
Take away the crime and we are left with a tax base and, for those who have a problem with drugs, we have a people problem wich already exists and will continue to exist. God forbid we help any people. Better to punish. Society always needs someone to demean and look down upon; so it seems.
