You could have fooled me. I thought he was addicted to the smell of GWB’s PENQUIN. Thats where his head has been lately.

  2. DanielJames on April 29th, 2006 at 2:51 pm

    He was framed!

    Bwahahaha

Oh yeah he had an excuse….

    #1 that too

Apparently “They” haven’t paid attention. G. Gordon Liddy was convicted and served time, and he has a radio show.

  4. The Dude on April 29th, 2006 at 4:17 pm

    G. Gordon Liddy was convicted and served time, and he has a radio show.

… and a fine show it is, IMHO. I’ve enjoyed listening to Mr. Liddy since the mid ’90s.

  5. Henley on April 29th, 2006 at 4:58 pm

Nowadays Liddy wouldn’t even have to time. Rush and even Sandy Burger who was caught stuffing classified documents down his pants, just get a slap on the wrist. And then later they can get some judge to expunge their records so it no longer shows up that they were even arrested, thus they are able to change history. All it takes today is money.

    What is doctor shopping?

  7. jimb on April 29th, 2006 at 5:41 pm

It’s hopping from doctor to doctor in the hopes that they will give you drugs - usually painkillers, even if you already have some of them or it’s been decided by one doctor to discontinue you from the painkillers.

  8. BSue on April 29th, 2006 at 5:44 pm

    #7 jimb
Your answer was much better than mine. I was going to say “doctor shopping is a REALLY bad idea if you’re a famous conservative, in the state of Florida.”

  9. jimb on April 29th, 2006 at 5:46 pm

I forgot to mention, in many cases, doctor shopping is driven by either addiction to painkillers prescribed for injury or surgery or seomtning, or continued pain well after the doctor decides to stop the painkillers. It isn’t always “weakness” or character flaws.

  10. gregg aka"T-Bone" on April 29th, 2006 at 6:07 pm

I looked up doctor shopping and found this picture.

  11. johncoby on April 29th, 2006 at 7:02 pm

Rush lost his hearing and had it repaired a few years ago. The miracle of science!

It was found out later that the drug he was taking had a side effect: LOSE OF HEARING!

It’s like an alcoholic getting a new liver and continuing to drink.

What a fat, drug addicted, liar.

  12. jimb on April 29th, 2006 at 7:13 pm

#11 - that was pretty hateful. I hope you never have to (or haven’t had to in the past) experience something similar.

  13. marc on April 29th, 2006 at 8:29 pm

11, you are hatefull. Shame on you. I REALLY HOPE THAT YOUR LIFE IS PAIN FREE.

    Quit raging Rush.

My dad spent years with inoperable back pain. It got so bad that they prescrbed codene (sp) pills for a while then switched him to a really powerful pain med that was a patch. I know that he was addicted, not by choice, but by necessity. It allowed him to have some end of life comfort at least.

Of course the Wapo had their liberal slant on Rush’s settlement:

    Here is the unslanted view:

I guess that johncoby is a drive by that will probably never be back here to read this.

  15. gadboy on April 30th, 2006 at 1:14 am

It just amazes me how you can excuse criminal behavior in some one just because he is on your side.

  16. rideuponthewind on April 30th, 2006 at 2:26 am

It’s very true that when trying to live with long-term pain that people will try just about anything to find relief. Unfortunately, the “state” doesn’t see it that way. Similar situations in Texas usually result in a defendant pleading guilty to lessor “crimes,” taking deferred adjudication, paying court costs, restitution, etc., etc.; however, their records under state law are NEVER expungable. Thus, they must carry that burden for the remainder of their lives, resulting in loss of jobs, loss of job opportunities, etc., etc.,etc. You would not believe the unjust long-term punishments placed upon the defendants. We’re having a debate on whether or not Mr. Limbaugh’s case is an instance of what Florida law defines as deferred adjudication.

Deferred Adjudication (DA) is not a conviction, but everyone seems to think it is. I urge those of you who have no idea what DA is to check out this website and get educated! Why is Mr. Limbaugh having to pay $30 grand for the state to investigate him? That garbage!!

  17. dottiem on April 30th, 2006 at 5:53 am

At least Rush didn’t drown his lover, while married, in the Chappaquiddick and get away with it like U.S. Senator Kennedy.

  18. Jaime on April 30th, 2006 at 7:11 am

I quit listening to Rush a long time ago. He is a hypocrite. He wants the drug “war” applied to everyone but himself. He is but a shadow of what he used to be. Rush talks a good talk about Constitutional government but when it comes to the unconstitutional Federal prohibition (not regulation), he is all for it … except when it invoves him.

And I do suffer from back spasms. When I have them, I would die in a fire because I can not move.

  19. Eric Johnson on April 30th, 2006 at 8:16 am

    Jaime

Rush was charged with going to more than one doctor at once to get more pain pills

This is a far cry from Columbian Cartels running and gunning

this is an even further cry from a 1/2 naked Ted snortin Cocaine 2 miles away from Rushes house while the police were knocking on the door serving a warrant for his nephew in a sexual asault case

Some different priorities that the Palm Beach office has in prosecuting Ted was not arrested, they confiscated his cocaine, and they later dropped the charges during his nephews trial

the original judge in Rushes case had to recuse himself because he too was on oxycotin and he too went to more than one doctor for his pain from his bad hip and he too was hooked

Now that you know these FACTS maybe you will temper who you call a hyprocrite

  20. gregg aka"T-Bone" on April 30th, 2006 at 10:35 am

I have listened to Rush since Dan put him on the air in Houston. I even went to the first Rush to Excellence tour. He was saying things I was thinking. Most of us are the same. We finally had a voice in the liberal media. Saying that. It seems since he began to get ill his show has changed for the worse. When he would regularly appear on Sunday shows or other media he shined. Now he sits on his glass house and just throws stones. Whenever a good call comes in that he doesnt like it seems he overtalks and the caller goes away without even a goodbye.

I think he is very unhappy in life and is lonely. His marriage failed for some reason, probably his illness and his obsession with work. I dont know where he goes from here. He is still the top dog in radio. Hannity is closing fast because he confronts the other side head on. Rush never would allow that exchange on the radio. He has resorted to Rumsfeld or Cheney softball interviews. We can see past that BS Rush.

It shows you. No matter how much money you have you still cant buy your health or happiness. He also has no legacy of children to pass on. Most of us of average means have our gifts in our kids and families. Dont think I would trade places with Rush.

  21. Mike S on April 30th, 2006 at 11:30 am

    #19 -

Rush is a hypocrite in this matter. And he said it best himself -

“When you strip it all away, Jerry Garcia destroyed his life on drugs. And yet he’s being honored, like some godlike figure. Our priorities are out of whack, folks.”

    http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1159

Jerry and Rush are one in the same in this aspect -both suffered the disease of addiction to narcotics.

    #20 -

I think you make a good observation as to his happiness. Is that his second or third failed marriage? Like you, I wouldn’t want to trade places with him.

  22. Jaime on April 30th, 2006 at 12:18 pm

    #19 You make my case.

The “drug war” has destroyed fundamental rights. The prosecutor in Florida is simply using all the “tools” given him by “drug war” laws. The prosecutor in Florida went after a “high profile” target. Good target in a good “war,” don’t you think?

Imagine a lesser “god” caught in the path of a zealous “drug war warrior.”

And do I have to say this? I am sorry for Rush and his pain and his addiction. But he is not a threat to anyone. And his situation ought not be a crime - not for him nor for anyone else.

And this is why Rush is a hypocrite. He expects special treatment.

  23. Jaime on April 30th, 2006 at 12:23 pm

    #20 Spot-on.

I also went to see Rush when he came to Houston. The early days were full of wit, laughter and sharp social/political observations. Too bad he just became a justifier of Republican absurdities. Had Rush applied the same scalpel to the Republicans in power as he did to the Democrats, when in power, he would not be the shadow of what he once was.

I wonder, did his drug problem was a factor? What a lonley man he must be.

  24. DanielJames on April 30th, 2006 at 1:09 pm

I wonder how much time the regular shmoe would have gotten?

I heard he was in such pain he couldnt live without the meds…man he never sounded like a man with such a disabling injury.

Anyway…the regular shmoe would have been dealt with much more harshly.

I say Rush donates a few million to CENIKOR!

And maybe he can clean up the sides of highways for a year???

    The Almighty Rushbo???

    Good lord!

  25. gregg aka"T-Bone" on April 30th, 2006 at 1:28 pm

I bet the average schmo would have gotten a small fine with treatment. That drug “WAS” prescribed by a Doctor and it is addictive. This episode cost Rush more than a million in lawyer fees.

Now if he would have forged a prescription or stolen drugs from the pharmacy then we can talk about jail time.

You just cant separate your hatred for the man because he brought your chance of Liberal Socialist Utopia to a quick and permanent end.

  26. Eric Johnson on April 30th, 2006 at 1:34 pm

    25

as far as the state of Florida records went only a few dozen people were charged with this crime and they were dealing drugs getting prescriptions loading up with several doctors

Rush as far as anyone can tell was the first to be charged with using other than the Judge who was firs presiding over his trial (his charges were dropped and he received counseling - I guess a hip is worse than a back)

But its fun to watch the trifecta of whiners here try to make it a condemnation of it

  27. Mike S on April 30th, 2006 at 1:52 pm

Good thing the ACLU jumped in to defend Rush….there is a bright side to everything.

    The ACLU helping Rush.

    Very telling!

    #25

I’d like to see Rush release the info on this case…sunshine???

    Socialist Utopia?

    WOW!

Rush is a mouth piece for the liberal socialist Bush!

  29. gadboy on April 30th, 2006 at 3:07 pm

    #26- a crime is a crime is a crime……..

  30. gregg aka"T-Bone" on April 30th, 2006 at 3:33 pm

gad, there are different degrees of crime. Parking ticket and robbing a bank. Should they be prosecuted the same? Yeh I know, only if a Republican had the parking ticket.

We all know the DA in Fla was a big Dem and Kerry supporter. Sorta like the guy in Austin going after Delay. If ya cant beat them at the pols just try and send them to jail. Great Dem strategery for 08. Try coming up with an idea instead of a talking point.

  31. Argus on April 30th, 2006 at 5:32 pm

Come on, the MSM went along with Limbfraud’s lawyer fiction of calling it a settlement when it really was a plea bargain. But, old Rush is just a joke now, right? Are there people actually still listening to him? Wow, that so 90’s, so Rush room at the steak house

  32. Rahman on April 30th, 2006 at 5:40 pm

Come monday Mr. Limbaugh will go on his daily radio talk show to rant for 3 hours incessantly blaming democrats for his misfortune.
No doubt, callers will continue to start their chat with “Rush it’s an honor to talk to you”
    Honor? My foot!!!!!!!!!!!
That says it all about him and his listeners.

  33. Big45Iron on April 30th, 2006 at 10:02 pm

Uh, it’s not the MSM. It’s the DLWM. FOX and talk radio are the MSM. The rest of the libnut media is going down the tubes.

  34. neocon on April 30th, 2006 at 11:01 pm

    Argus and Rahman

People ARE LISTENING to Rush! That is what you libs can’t stand! Another voice other than the Declining Left Wing Media (DLWM). Thank God for Rush and the movement he started! I and I am sure a majority of Americans can relate to Rush (as forerunner) and the rest, Savage, Snow, Hannity (a little) and Jerry Doyle, just to name a few. If it weren’t for Rush, they probably would not be broadcasting today. THANKS RUSH!

  35. gadboy on May 1st, 2006 at 12:29 am

Are you saying we should thank Rush for dumbing down the political dialogue in this country? Bringing every discussion down to the lowest common denominator? Discarding facts if they don’t prove your points? Attacking people personally if they don’t agree with your narrow minded views?
Abandoning any pretense of journalistic ability? Calling Rush, Hannity, Savage and the rest of their ilk journalists is like calling me a Nascar star because I can drive a car 75 miles an hour on the freeway.

  36. sunny on May 1st, 2006 at 3:50 am

And…do I hear the libs (purposely not using capitalisation!) calling the ‘pot black!’ Shame on you! Shame! Shame! Shame! Is it a case of ‘throwing the first stone’?….I wonder what would happen if any ofyou had insufferable pain…what would the righteous lib-followers do? Ummmm…I guess just grin and bear it…yeah…that’s what they’d do!

You got the name wrong. Should have been Dan Rather, et al from the DLWM. Thank God for Rush for giving us conservatives another news outlet other than the liberal DLWM.

  39. gadboy on May 1st, 2006 at 12:27 pm
