Hrm… what’s the price in California again?

An unfortunate selection of the word.
If the man was a conservative we would not be talking about barrel versus gallon.
Bias reporting is destroying the credibility of the publishing industry.

I’m confused about another thing here. Gas is not $55/BBL either. Is Wyden referring to the price of oil, gasoline, or neither? The term “gas” to me would indicate natural gas (methane) which is measured in neither gallons nor barrels. The volume unit for natural gas is CF (cubic feet). Yet another example of spastic writing by The CrummyCall.

They wonder why I haven’t read their paper since 1991.

How do you like that one, Shakey?

What’s really funny (or more rightly put, sad) is that the Senator filibustered this for 5 hours. He’s probably still wondering why it didn’t receive a floor vote. This just proves just how elitest and out of touch our congress is.

Re your new trademark: Good one!

The Chronicle corrected it, Matt. Nice job playing editor for them. :)

Of course, they corrected it with no mention of their original error.

Because the reinvented Chron.com really isn’t more transparent than the old Chron.com

    Whatever.

“raised from a ceiling of $55 a gallon”

There is more to this than just gallon vs. barrel, seems like there should be a decimal in there some place.

The Chron is still looking to hire a Senior Copy Editor.

Should I send my resume, or just bill the paper on a freelance basis?

The Comical needs to create a website where they prepublish their nonsense and let other bloggers look at it. They could entitle it: HUNTLS - Help Us Not To Look Stupid.

#7 You could probably do it in your sleep. As it is, I don’t think anyone reads their stuff before they print it. The problem is that some small portion of the people believe what they read in the paper.

Natural gas is priced in Deca-Therms per mmcf, which is also MMBTUs. This is because natural gas can vary in energy content. Methane is the major component, but some of the heavier components may not be extracted, depending on market pricing. Ethane and propane are sometimes left in and boost the final Btu value and hence the product value.

And you wonder why our energy policy is such a disaster?! The economically illerate want government to do something about high gasoline prices, and they are the idiots (local, state, federal) who got us into this mess to bein with many years ago - aided and abetted by certain consumer behaviors.

  14. OdinsAcolyte on May 3rd, 2006 at 11:30 am

There is no cost to the government in lost taxes.
They have no right. The governments of the US, both state and federal, steal money they never earned. They steal investment money. Investment in the future. They do not own the minerals in the Gulf of Mexico and never did. They take from mineral owners on the land. They take from minerals extracted off stolen lands, now called government lands. It costs them nothing to steal. We let them do it. They are jealous of private enterprise and it wealth. The wealth that built and uphold this nation. The wealth that changed the world. Anytime they touch private business, they put up obstructions and charge fees…for stealing. They never fixed anything. They never built anything. They never created any wealth. They only transfer wealth from the private sector to the government sector. This is what happens when folks who know nothing about an industry try and regulate it. Change will come. They will pass. I hope I live to see it. I want to say, “I Helped!”
