What do you bet he gets life in prison? It were going to be death, it would have been announced within 3 hours.

  2. marc on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:17 pm

    Matt,

The reason it has taken so long is that the jury is given a specific list of questions that they have to debate and agree affirmatively on for the most part. Then the defense has their list of extenuating circumstances the jury must consider. This is the “beyoud a shaddow of doubt test”. The list was on a blog somewhere, but I can’t find it now. This is life or death. I personally think they should hang hm untill dead.

  3. j kathi smith on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:18 pm

I have to agree, we’ll get to support his filthy rear in prison for the rest of his life. Personally I am sick of the “death penalty is unfair” crowd. Those that died 9-11 did not get a FAIR trial or a JUST sentance.

ANTONE who commits or conspires to commit murder should die a hard horrible death

Nothing would please Moussaoui more than to be executed and become a martyr for his cause.

This is exactly what he wants, which is why I will be content to let his lousy a$$ rot in a prison cell.

I still dont see how someone can get the death penalty for not doing something. Dont get me wrong. I would love to throw this sand farmer in a wood chipper as much as the next guy. However, technically the guy didnt do anything. He was the 4th stooge and didnt make the big show. There was a movie out with Tom Cruise about big brother arresting people before they commited a crime. Dont remember the name of it.

Looks like they will execute him in about 20 years.

  8. neocon on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:38 pm

Jury was not unanimous in favor of death, so he gets life in prison without the possibility of parole! Uggggghhhhhhhhhh!

  9. Lizzie on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:40 pm

So we have to support this POS with our tax dollars? While he gets to spend his free time in prison, attempting to convert prisoners over to Islam? So they can in turn become Islamofacists and commit acts of terror against us?

    Lovely. Just lovely.

Put him to death with a claw hammer!

    From Drudge report

A federal jury decided Wednesday al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui deserves life in prison for his role in the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history, on Sept. 11, 2001.

On the seventh day of deliberation, the jury of nine men and three women informed Judge Leonie Brinkema that it had reached a decision. The verdict was announced at 4:30 p.m. EDT.

  13. marc on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:48 pm

He is 37. I doubt he will make 57. Hearing some of his rantings in court, someone in prison badder than he is will whack him. (He will certanly be in whack then)

    From the AP:

    By MICHAEL J. SNIFFEN
    Associated Press Writer

    ALEXANDRIA, Va.

8c3659fd2262@news.ap.org A federal jury rejected the death penalty for al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui on Wednesday and decided he must spend life in prison for his role in the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history.

After seven days of deliberation, the nine men and three women rebuffed the government’s appeal for death for the only person charged in this country in the four suicide jetliner hijackings that killed nearly 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001.

The verdict came after four years of legal maneuvering and a six-week trial that put jurors on an emotional roller coaster and gave the 37- year-old Frenchman of Moroccan descent a platform to taunt Americans. The judge was to hand down the life sentence Thursday morning, bound by the jury’s verdict.

    Heading home…brain is tired.

  16. j kathi smith on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:54 pm

    # 14 - I hope that was tongue in cheek, because you can not mean to suggest our military or our government was a part of the carnage that day

  17. Ree-C Murphey on May 3rd, 2006 at 3:56 pm

I think the guy should be given chopped ham, hog’s head cheese and fried pork rinds for the rest of his life.

  18. Lizzie on May 3rd, 2006 at 4:01 pm

One last comment…I think the thing that really irks me (besides the fact that he will be allowed to continue to breathe) is the fact that he will be given all due consideration of his “religious” beliefs in the pokey. Special diet, prayer rugs etc.

He should be put up against a wall and shot, and the bullets should be dipped in pigs blood too.

  19. gregg aka"T-Bone" on May 3rd, 2006 at 4:02 pm

Why waste good pork on him. Just make him do this all day.

  20. Ken Kelley on May 3rd, 2006 at 4:22 pm

    Oh, it gets worse.
At some date, in the not too distant future, there will be innocent Americans captured and held hostage in demand for the release of Moussaoui. And our government will, for once, do the right thing and refuse to do so. And the Americans will be murdered.

I say he should have been allowed his “martyrdom” and let he and God/Allah sort it out.

This is not going to turn out well.

I totally agree (are we long lost twins?)!

However, I heard he would be placed in a maximum security prison where he would be in his cell for 23 hours and out for 1 to exercise and/or bathe (bathing not mandatory).

Unfortunately, you may be on to something there. I sincerely hope not.

Hope someone else will take him out while is out for “exercise.”

  23. Golden Adam on May 3rd, 2006 at 5:59 pm

I’m guessing that there won’t be any tell all books from any of the jurors.

  24. Willie on May 3rd, 2006 at 6:29 pm

As usual, Mr. Moussaoui has exhibited that he does not understand America. By allowing this monster his day in court, America has once again demonstrated, for all of mankind to see, that our system of justice is a beacon of light that bravely shines in a world too often filled with darkness.
Rather than lamenting the fact that his life was spared, let’s all focus on the fact that our way of life, and not his, won today. Mr. Moussaoui is merely too enveloped in the darkness to recognize it.
God bless the United States of America!

  25. BoB2 on May 3rd, 2006 at 6:45 pm

How long will this POS live in prison? Not long in the general population. Didn’t use the nice pain-less method, let someone shank him in the kitchen after dipped the weapon in some pork grease.

  26. gregg aka"T-Bone" on May 3rd, 2006 at 6:48 pm

You people give the criminals in prison too much credit. I bet he converts most of them to Islam.

  27. Right Of Texas on May 3rd, 2006 at 6:57 pm

I really don’t agree with this decision. He is the only guy we have, and we should have juiced his a$$. I agree with BOB2, and can only hope hell end up in a cell with Bubba who hasnt seen his wife in 15 years…

  28. flygal on May 3rd, 2006 at 7:49 pm

He will be going to max security fed prison in Colorado. No books, no TV, no interaction with other prisoners; 23hrs in 7×12′ cell; he will not go to whatever islam services there are; they will be piped in.
Chances are he may live a long time physically, but his mind will collapse within a few years.
Oh, so sad. a mind is a terrible thing to waste;)

  29. Rahman on May 3rd, 2006 at 8:37 pm

Once again American justice has prevailed.
Luckily the juries were of sound mind, more rational than emotional unlike some of the posters here.
Knowing a crime alone is not punishable by death in our justice system.
No one has condemned this man more than Massaui himself, not even pulic prosecutor could do that.
He did everything he could lying to his teeth to become a myrter but was denied his wish.
This would be his punishment far greater than the death he so desired.

  30. DanielJames on May 3rd, 2006 at 10:46 pm

I would have supported a public burning at the stake!

Too bad we have become so soft.

  31. j kathi smith on May 4th, 2006 at 8:16 am

My idea was to smear him in pig guts, add pig blood to the lethal injection IV, and stuff a pork sausage up his rear and a ham down his throat, they fry his a$$.

But burning him at the stake after covering him in pig guts works too!

  32. neocon on May 4th, 2006 at 8:27 am

Ah, come on j kathi, tell us how you really feel! :) Not that I don’t agree with you!

  33. rj on May 4th, 2006 at 8:34 am

These terrorist types say that the ones who die for Alla become’s a martyr.
Fine! He should have been given the ax.
Had he been given te death penalty he would have laid up on death row for more than 20 years before given the needle. Americans have become too soft.
I’ll bet they’ve (terrorist)lost count of the “martyrs” our military has sent to be with their 27 virgins and a week from now he (Moussaoui)would be forever forgotten.
History will not be very kind to the Islamic terrorist.
    I agree with #20

I think we’ve done the cruelst thing possible to him. I’m enjoying the fact that he’s going to spend the rest of his life watching us destroy everything his warped little mind believes in, and he’ll die a bitter old man, telling himself that he’s a martyr for spending all that time in a comfy prison.

In reality, he’ll just be another pathetic loser vainly trying to believe he is worth something. We should trot him out every few years to take pictures, to remind folks what we’re fighting, and to make fun of him.
