Brad Watson did a good job with this report. I’m wondering about what topic of conversation will be at a certain convention in San Antonio in the next few days…

Tax cut? Don’t count your golden geese till they hatch.

“Sure hope something like that comes along soon.”

Hmmmmmmm, I’m sure this has nothing at all to do with the MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT on KSEV tomorrow.

And Austin thought this was a “Houston Problem.” Hmmmmm! Will be interesting!

You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

I think I read this somewhere.

Hey, I’m theoretically on the reward end of our ‘lustrios potentate Rich’s almighty tax plan. The lie they started out with for us teachers was that we were to get a $5,000.00 pay increase. And then they dropped it to $4,500, then $3,500, then $3,000 and it finally ended at $2,500.00. Now $500.00 of that MUST go to pay for the unfunded mandate of my health insurance that the goobers in Austin enacted back around 2001. And the greatest part of all . . . if a school district pays above the State Base - the minimum that a district must pay a teacher - the additional $2,000 pay increase from the State can be absorbed into the Local Increment. It would be a rotten thing to do by a local school board, but it is a legal option. Perry’s in La La Land smokin’ some of Kinky’s special majic cigars if he thinks that this is gonna work. Theoretically, I could be screwed to the tune of $4,000 - $2,000 of tax cut that is a pipe dream and $2,000 of pay increase that I’ll never see.

I totally agree. This bill is all smoke and mirrors. The purpose is to (1) appease the Supreme Court and (2) tax us into oblivian and call it a tax cut! Tax cut my a$$! The school teachers should be receiving 60% of all funding, not the other way around. Cut the administration and put more bucks into the local classroom. The rate should be 70% classroom, 30% administration.

Sorry Tx.Aggie, looks like you won the double!
Neo- this isn’t smoke and mirrors, it’s straight out robbery.
It’s straight sold out to Lobby!

You are absolutely right! Our representatives and senators are not represented by the people, but by lobbists! Both federal and state!

    Jean & Rightorush,

    #8 & #9

You’re absolutely right. Straight-out, broad daylight murder w/ witnesses. Our “representatives” - boy is that an oxymoronic term for them - have totally forgotten who put them there. I was listening to Sean Hannity this afternoon and he was ranting about the very thing. Liberal Republicans - we more accurately call them RHINO’s - and Elitist who knew they could get elected if they ran as Republicans think that we’ll all do okay if we’ll just shut up and let “our betters” run things for us. I have written so many letters, made so many phone calls, and sent so many emails that their staffs probably know me by the sound of my voice/typing. But all I get is melodious bull droppings . . . it sounds good, but it still stinks. Ted Poe is the only incumbant that I MAY vote for in the future.

Glad i’m stupid or this would bother me. I really dont pay property taxes. My mortgage company pays them from this new thingy called an “escrow” You suckers should get one of these. Me Worry? I dont think so. OHHH 9999 bottles of beer on the wall…..

  12. TXAggie87 on May 31st, 2006 at 9:00 pm

    “T-Bone”

You’re startin’ too low. The incumbents are depending on you to start with 9,999,999,999 bottles of beer - sorta like their tax rates, too damned high! That way we’ll be distracted when it comes time to vote.

Hey #3, what is this “MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT on KSEV tomorrow” you speak of? I only caught a few minutes of Dan’s show today. What did I miss?

The TX Rep convention sounds like it will have some real fireworks this year. Had he listened to Dan and Paul, the Gov would be walking in a hero and set for re-election. Instead, he is headed into his state convention, in an election year, on defense and without support of the base.

I predict a bad hair day!

Dan would only say that he had a major announcement….no hints at all form him.

  15. Golden Adam on May 31st, 2006 at 11:13 pm

There he goes again…just out to increase ratings!
