it is a shame we the voters won’t know the outcome of their actions untill after the elections.

the very fact that a lawsuit had to be filled is further evidence that they have not adhered to the constition.

the curious thing will be how they campaign on this issue. will the press ask them the right questions?

if the press articulates the fact they have not answered these claims and gets that point made to the public - these guys can say bye bye to their political future!

further, the canned response by the house and senate reps are disgusting in most cases which i have read on the clout website.

it is obvious to informed voters that these clouns should be voted out of office - sooner rather than later.

It’s just public confirmation of what most of us TRUE conservatives have known for years. Now others are starting to realize.

    Still don’t trust Strayhorn.

Strayhorn is just grandstanding for votes. Anybody can be for something until they actually get into office. That is what a politician does to get elected. A true conservative has more conviction and stays to what he campaigns on, like Dan Patrick.

True, what better way to get votes? Were we idiots, still know that it is a such a feeble attempt to lure voters.

  11. willsin on July 25th, 2006 at 9:36 am

Clout and/or Grandma should prepare a talking points sheet for dissemination to the press and media. It should list the tough questions they should ask our cowardly, serpent-like candidates. It will be worth it, at least, for the entertainment value of watching them try to squirm away from answering the questions posed.

Carol may be trolling for votes - or she may be actually executing her oath of office to uphold the Constitution. The real question is why aren’t Dewhurst, Perry, Craddick, and others following the will of the voter? Why would Perry, Dewhurst et al turn their nose up at this lawsuit and constitutional question? I know who my customer is - I know who I have to please to be successful. So Carol figured it out! Why criticize her and give Perry & Dewhurst a pass as they give CLOUT and all taxpayers the rasberry response? What do they have to do to finally make the Texas voter angry?

  13. bweldon on July 25th, 2006 at 10:02 am

#12, Edd, I think the responses here are made because of a general distrust of ANYONE who is currently in elected office. I am willing to give Carol the benefit of a dozen doubts, however we the voters have been raked over the proverbial coals, more times than we care, and want to see actions that are in our best interest not as you put it the rasberry..

The only way to get the rest of the “monkeys” in Austin is to vote Perry out of office, and if they do not get the message start finding people to run against them in the primaries in the next election cycle… I have already put Mr Callegari on notice that if he does not start to vote more conservativly and support issues such as appraisal caps I’ll be working against him in some way shape or form next time around.

I agree with you. The readers’ wrath should be turned to Perry, Dewhurst, et al.

  15. vlou on July 25th, 2006 at 10:23 am

Don’t believe Grandma Keeton Ryland McClellan Strayhorn whatever other hame is truly on the side of CLOUT. She is always on whichever side fits her agenda at the moment. Besides isn’t she the one that certifies the state budget? Why didn’t she keep track of what was going on and speak up sooner?

  16. JohnRH on July 25th, 2006 at 10:34 am

I’m with you, Edd - Perry and Dewhurst shouldn’t get a pass. They’ve had more than enough 2nd chances. As much as Dan want them to, they aren’t going to suddenly have an epiphany and reverse themselves on everything they’ve done for the past 4 years. They’ll go down with the ship. Carol may not do any better - but until a sitting governor and lieutenant governor get drummed out of office by their own base, nothing will change. Simply “scaring” them with a close victory won’t do it.

Some days it just hardly seem worth the effort to gnaw through these leather straps just to get out of bed.

    Rastus - try some seasoning!

Kinky, Strayhorn, Perry, it makes no difference! They don’t care about us. I’ll vote between Kinky and Grandma, whoever has higher poll numbers. Anything BUT the status quo.

#8 & #12. I agree with your assessment, but so what. If this will help the cause then we will need to grant a little slack until we are convinced otherwise.
