The Chron recently published two police sketches of a suspected serial killer wanted in six murders. Here are the sketches and the caption that ran underneath them. See if you can spot something odd.

The suspect is in his late 20s to 30s, 5-feet-8 to 6-feet tall, weighs 180 to 220 pounds, with very short black hair, possibly bald.
One sketch clearly says 5′5″, the other says 6′. One says “late 20’s early 30’s” while, while the other says “30’s to 40’s.” One is dated April 7, the other one April 4. Is it the same guy? Are there two suspects?
Why don’t we know? Facts like these are crucial if the public is to help stop this psycho. The Chron’s reader representative is looking into the disparity, and I hope he clears it up soon.
In the meantime, be on the lookout for a short guy in his 20s. Or a tall guy in his 40s. Or something.

Roid Rage???
Stocky build, no hair? Smacktle?
LOL
Well, at least the Chron didnt post this.
Those descriptions remind me of the warnings on some medicines: “This may make you drousy. It may give you insomnia. Frankly, there’s no telling what it may do.”
Here’s the website to Lois Gibson, HPD’s Forensic artist. She’s been doing it for HPD for a long time. Lois Gibson is recorded in The Guinness Book of World Records as “The World’s Most Successful Forensic Artist.” Her sketches have helped law enforcement bring in over 1,062 criminals. She’s good! I’ve attended one of her classes. She has a real talent and does more than pics of crooks and decomposed skeletons and stuff….

You got it all wrong. It’s a different version of the puzzler Hocus Focus they typically run on Sunday where you’re supposed to spot 5 differences between two seemingly similar images.
Actually the suspect is white with grey hair, 6′6″,
stooped, one legged, one-armed aged between 20-75
years.
I like the pastel work. I cant say that I’ve ever seen a police sketch signed. Portraits are hard to master. My props to the artist and the commenters.
They’re ALL signed & dated. That’s why mine isn’t mounted & framed. As distracting as having a bumper sticker on Miss Universe.
I’d like to see how politically correct the reporter would be in his/her description should he/she be attacked by a man fitting this rather non-racist description. If he’s white, say “white”; if he’s black, say “black”; if he’s green, say “green”. Otherwise, the cops will be pulling over half of the population without female accoutrements. Idjits.
Can you imagine the public outcry from the black community if that killer had been white?? “tedtam” is right, I have noticed in news reports, that for the “PC” reason, they never mention the race of the suspect for fear of being called a racist or a profiler. Why don’t you handicap the public and the police some more, when you are trying to get their help in capturing this criminal??
The first thing I noticed was that they don’t look alike at all, and that was on the local talking head shows, where the pictures didn’t show the marginal notes. Eyebrows are different, eyes are different, lips are different, chin is different, neck is different, I mean, talk about your politically incorrect, but is the local MSM having trouble telling the difference between one or the other brother? Sheesh!
I should point out that I don’t think this is a racial issue at all, nor do I think the Chron is being politically correct (in this case.) Yeah, the suspect is black. He has to be some race, I guess.
It just looks like someone screwed up.
It could be the cops, if they’re releasing these sketches but giving a different description to the press. Or it could be the reporter messing up quotes, using old information when new information is available, or just being sloppy.
I suspect part of the blame is with HPD and part is with the Chronicle, where one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. But I don’t really care whose fault it was, because it’s our problem.
There’s a bad, bad dude out there, and he’s killing people. He’s not gonna get caught until we know what he looks like. No matter who is at fault in this screw-up, it needs to get fixed, and soon.
