Interesting. I didn’t know Japan was so close!

    Kinda like Iran, hmmmm?

My fear is that no one will do anything to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program before it is too late to prevent them from an attack on someone - like Israel or the United States.

Let’s make it clear that any Iranian nuclear attack on US soil will result in nukes being dropped on both Mecca and Medina.

#3, we need to modify that a bit. “Any detonation of a nuclear device, or threat of same, on our soil or the soil of our allies will be met with overwhelming and disproportionate response to those who manufactured, procured, researched, or deployed such a device. Up to and including total annhialation of the sponsoring country or countries.”
Up yours Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, Syria, China, and Russia.

Ror, one thing you are missing in that is the fact that the Nazi Missle program was also the backbone for the US program, namely the scientist who escaped from Germany and surrendered to US forces just beofre WWII ended.

#6, I an quite familiar with Werner Von Braun, as is the rest of the world. He did not escape Nazi Germany, He was at Penemunde with the rest of his staff as well as a large contingent of Jewish prisoners when Allied forces arrived. They surrendered peacefully to the US army. Von Braun was actually running his own little “schindler’s list” to get as many jewish prisoners on work details in his facility to keep them out of the gas chambers. He worked for the Nazi’s because he was required to and they were the only game in town so to speak. He was a rocketry researcher, there is no evidence he had any control over the usage of his designs.

I am however unclear on the relevence of that bit of information as it applies to japan’s nuclear programs. I am also unclear on how it is relevent to Iran, North Korea, Syria, Pakistan, Russia, or China.

One point - Von Braun was the pre war expert on rockets - Ours - Robert Gottard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_H._Goddard
were set to working on JATO.

Also the German Nuclear program made a mistake in the value of the fast neutron capture crosssection for uranium. They though an A bomb could be easily made at about the size of a hand grenade - oops.

We had a better number and built the industrial base to produce the bomb.

By the way the German project retreated to a mine and tried to make a heavy water reactor, working until they were captured
