Where’s the token one with the resume of “citizen who pays taxes?” Don’t you have to have one of those?

    I hereby volunteer.

I lost count but looks like enough of ‘em to prevent anything being done.

You’re right in your observation, but you should take one more step back, and try to get a larger view.

No matter WHAT the commission says, it is there just to provide cover for the elected officials. Sorta like the base closure commission. The Congress can shut down military bases (a few of which are definitely unnecessary) with the cover of the BCC.

So, too, with this commission. Its real purpose is to provide Austin for cover for doing whatever they do (or don’t do, whatever the case may be).

Nope.. It really doesn’t matter who’s on the commission. That’s like asking what kind of bush a hunter hides behind. It really doesn’t matter, as long as the prey doesn’t see him.

The brain has no pain-sensors. Your brain cannot hurt.

Unlike liberals… they have nothing TO hurt…

Which reminds me of a joke!

A cannibal goes into the butcher, and asks if he sells brains.

“Many kinds. Conservative Brains are $6.99 per pound. Libertarian Brains sell for $14.99 per pound. Liberal Brains are $125.99 per pound.”

“What?! Why are liberal brains so much? Aren’t they defective?”

“Well,” says the cannibal butcher, “Do you know how many liberals I have to kill to get a pound of brains?”

DAvid, as a panel appointed by the state, are they governed by the open meetings act?

  8. David Benzion on August 21st, 2006 at 6:22 pm

#7 Yes, this should all be open meeting act stuff.

Please leave this lengthy post up for a while. And thanks for doing the research you have, BD.

    My initial response…..too many “BADS”.

Thirteen hours in the saddle…I’m headed for the bunkhouse.

Again…Dear Guv. Goodhair, stupid is as stupid does! Vote for Kinky…it can’t be that hard.

Wonder why Bettencourt is not on this commission. Perry seems to think property taxes are a Harris County problem, then why isn’t Bettencourt on the commission? The last time I looked, Harris County is the largest county in the country. Why, because Perry is not interested in caps, that’s why. This is so much BS by Perry. He thinks voters are really going to vote for him because he has appointed a commission to check into high property tax appraisals! The voters are not stupid, Mr. Bighair! We all see through your BS and if some don’t, wait until the bloggers get through with you!

Does He really think this will save him?

    ..Not credible w/o Paul !! … period..

I will not vote for these RINO’s again.

    I know we’ll take a hit i.e Bill Clinton.

I just don’t see how we can save the Republicans with the people we have.

Gang I do apologize but that is how I see it.
We must destroy the party to save it !!!!

This is another example of them sticking it to us. Where is that fool Mike Jackson? Another worthless Senator !!

We will take a hit in LOCAL politics. We can vote against Perry and still survive in Texas.

NATIONAL politics is another story. We simply cannot give our national security to the Dimocraps. “Speaker Palosi” simply cannot be. Charlie Rangel in charge of Ways and
Means Committee is just too much to bear. In national politics, we must all hold our nose and vote for the pubbies, despite what we really want to do. THEN vote them all out during the primaries.

#11 - Neocon - Bettencourt isn’t on the commission because of his association with Dan Patrick and KSEV. Which, as we know, is the source of all evil and single-handedly responsible for the destruction of the Republican party in Texas. As Edd put it this morning, this is pretty much “the cool girls being mean to the new cute girl.” Of course, Paul B. in the role of the “cute girl” is disturbing on many levels, but you get the point.

I say we represent ourselves at the next election.

  16. trl3 on August 22nd, 2006 at 11:37 am

Task Force has nothing to do with Tax Relief. It has to do with covering Perry’s Butt.

  17. tedtam on August 22nd, 2006 at 1:47 pm

Perry’s butt. Not a mental picture I want to envision.

  18. Big45Iron on August 23rd, 2006 at 4:57 pm

It’s all pure political posturing. The legislature won’t be in session again until next year. So nothing can happen until then. Perry had our vote. We got b-tch slapped and abused for it by him. Now it’s divorce court time in November. It’s your turn Mofo Perry. We’re going to treat you like a prison wide receiver.

  19. Neocon on August 23rd, 2006 at 5:13 pm

It is not even smart political posturing. The point is that Perry only needs 35% of the vote to win. His handlers have convinced him he will have that 35% while the others are split between Grandma, Kinky and Bell. If Perry really thought he needed our vote, Bettencourt would have been on that commission.

  20. Robert on September 15th, 2006 at 10:42 am

The best thing I’ve heard mentioned would be a “CLOUT”-like task force that has the time to go to each city where this supposed town hall meeting is held and present the CLOUT platform on tax relief and specifically apprasial caps. If they won’t come to you (in time to affect the November elections), then you go to them. But as in a rigged commission, there will probably be rigged questions designed to project Gov. Perry’s agenda.
