I guess it was inevitable. After years of neglect, staffing shortages and inept management, the Houston Police Department is now relegated to history:
The collection includes yellowed newspaper clippings, police badges, out-of-service patrol motorcycles and an HPD helicopter rescued from salvage that hangs from the ceiling.
Many of the items were donated by relatives of former Houston officers, said Gaytan, an instructor at the academy.
Ah, remember the good old days, when we had police officers? Other exhibits include a crime lab mockup, where kids can produce their very own tainted evidence.
Schoolchildren, he said, are usually drawn to a mock patrol car where they pretend to pursue fleeing felons.
“They love to get into the police-car simulator and get into a high-speed chase,” Hair said. “They always get the crook, and nobody gets into an accident.”
Little kids know what cops are supposed to do. It’s too bad Chief Hurtt doesn’t.
You know, sometimes I’m convinced that LST has a mole in the Chronicle, a double agent who produces stories like this just so we can mock them.

I love it.
At the rate things are going at the 911 Center, it will be a museum piece or “Center of Ineptness” pretty soon—thanks Mayor “Out-of-Town” Brown. Government seems to create monuments to their stupidity and cronyism at taxpayer’s expense.
The next museum piece will be the “Toy Train”. We can thank “Out-of-Town” for this one too. The people who voted for it forgot to find out where it was going before they voted for it. Now, nobody wants it down THEIR street. Well, heck, where did you think it was going in???
All this is thanks to Mayor Lee P. “Out-of-Town” Brown. He took stupidity, ineptness and cronyism to levels we have never seen in city government.
Ya know, you just can’t make this stuff up. Truth is stranger than fiction.
As much as I love to make light of the situation, it really is just sad to see HPD in this state. I don’t know of any other way to describe it really. Hopefully someone soon will be able to undo all the terrible decisions and get more blue shirts on the streets and get the morale back above sea level.
