A couple weeks ago, HPD Chief Harold Hurtt introduced the “Robbery Reduction Initiative.” Here’s how Channel 11 described it (via blogHouston):
The idea is to have police respond to robberies before crooks have a chance to escape.
Officials made the move because they said that it is not uncommon to have 100 robberies on Friday and Saturday nights.
Wednesday night officers began patrolling the Greenspoint Mall area.
The initiative hits Houston streets twice a week.
Unfortunately, this guy wasn’t lucky enough to get that semiweekly police protection:
A man was shot several times early today during an apparent robbery at a northwest Houston apartment complex.
The victim, identified as Marcellus Griffin, 26, was shot four times about 1 a.m. as he was getting out of his car in the 100 block of Northpoint Drive near Greenspoint, police said.
The two assailants approached the victim and demanded money. They pulled out pistols and began shooting when Griffin said he didn’t have any, police said.
Fortunately, Mr. Griffin is expected to survive.

I say screw the Chief. We need to get a letter writing campaign to the Mayor to replace this repulsive idiot. Not that it would do any good. Why, oh why can’t we elect our chief of police like we elect our Sheriff? The mayors of the city have too freakin’ much power.
Neo what we need is a good conservative candidate to replace his arse with in the next election. I don’t trust the mayor to hire anyone worth a shite. It’s the stupid leading the blind in City hall.
