If you could not make it to the Close the Borders rally at Houston City Hall on October 3rd, you missed a great speech by Dan Patrick. Here is your chance to hear that 7 minute speech.
Note: Twice Dan points out that there is no room for racism in this issue.
Hat tip Fjone.
There is a new and very disquieting reason why the culture of death wants to keep diagnosing people as being in a Persistant Vegetative State.
Mayors Bloomberg and Menino have an organization called Mayors Against Illegal Guns. They want to sue legally authorized gun sellers if anyone ever uses a gun they sold in a crime. In other words they want to hold the gun dealer and not the criminal responsible for the crime. Since they cannot sue gun manufacturers now, they’ve dropped down one level in the food chain in the effort to make anyone selling a gun a criminal.
Guess who is a member of this coalition? If you said Bill White go to the head of the class…
Anyone want to go for extra credit?

You have just blown $10,000 in a casino. What do you do now?
A. Sit down and have a good cry.
B. Call the wife and tell her she might as well initiate divorce proceedings.
C. Get drunk.
D. Do something stupid to make the news.
Let’s try “D.”
A man in South Florida was taken into custody after he drove his pickup into the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming Casino in an apparent fit of anger after losing $10,000, according to a Local 6 News report.
Police said the man rammed his vehicle into the north door of the casino in West Miami-Dade.
Nothing like a little reckless anger to make things all better.
Police on patrol help fight crime.
Houston police said the man was killed outside the Chase Bank in the 7800 block of Long Point Road near Wirt Road at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Officers nearby heard the gunshots and chased the shooters, officials said.
Officials said three men and a woman were taken into custody. Police said two of the people had recently been released from jail and the other two have extensive criminal backgrounds.
What a concept.
Well, I give them credit for at least being honest:

We Recommend Jodie Laubenberg in Texas House District 89
Thursday, October 5, 2006Two years ago, we praised State Rep. Jodie Laubenberg as part of a bloc of new, energetic House members. In particular, we lauded the former Parker City Council member for being unafraid to speak up even when it put her at odds with Republican leadership in Austin.
Make no mistake. She’s a conservative who is not as progressive as we would like on some issues. Nonetheless, Ms. Laubenberg, 49, gets our nod for another term representing District 89 in Austin.
She’s an independent, principled thinker who possesses energy, passion and the willingness to tackle issues that impact her district and the state.
For example, Ms. Laubenberg advocates a regional mass transit system despite her admitted concerns about how to pay for it in a way that would be fair to all cities. And although she would like to see school voucher pilot programs, she also backs more dollars for public schools. Ms. Laubenberg also supports changes to require the Texas Legislature to record major votes, an issue that put her at odds with others in her party.
In the coming years, we expect Ms. Laubenberg to become more influential in Austin. Case in point: appraisal caps. She rightly challenged Gov. Rick Perry’s plan for a tight cap on property appraisals, noting that some local governments could be financially crippled.
However, she favors finding new ways to relieve the property tax burdens on homeowners and recently told this editorial board that she is likely to support the recommendation of a state committee organized to review the appraisal cap issue.
The perfect Republican RINO that is palatable to a Mainstream-Media editorial board.
Like I said– at least they are being upfront about it.
Governor Perry’s Texas Task Force on Appraisal Reform came to Lufkin yesterday, but few taxpayers showed up for the 9AM forum. The Lufkin City Manager thinks he knows why.
Lufkin City Manager Paul Parker, assuring Pauken the event was well-advertised, suggested low attendance indicated homeowners’ satisfaction with local property tax appraisals. — Lufkin Daily News
It’s hard to blog when laughing so hard. No, we are not satisfied with our local property tax appraisals. Please do not get the idea that you can raise them some more!
Instead, at 9AM, some, including myself, are working to pay our property taxes. If we don’t, who will pay the city manager’s salary to attend such “dog and pony show” meetings or for “free” wifi to tourists?

It is not very often that I am left speechless. I found this post from a 16 year myspace blogger that I feel deserves notice.
Thursday, October 05, 2006 Dylan [Take It All Into Your Stride] had this to say:
Greater love hath no [wo]man than [s]he who gives up his life for his friend.”
Current mood: crushed“Shoot me first.”There are some things that can touch even the hardest of hearts, and I believe this is one of them.
I don’t believe I could muster half the bravery of the 12 year old girl, willing to give her own life to buy time for others. No, not even a half.
Say what you will about the amish, but if an entire community holds it’s values in alignment with this little girl’s (given the fact that the murdered children’s families invited the killer’s own family to the funeral, I’m inclined to believe so), I believe we lead the backwards lives.
“Take it at face value, lad. Heroes aren’t necessarily fighters. Some are Ghandis.”
Rest in Peace, children.
Thanks Dylan I could have not said it better so I won’t try.
