Have a great weekend all. 68 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, I’mm getting outta this house.

  6. dowjones25k on October 7th, 2006 at 9:56 am

i didnt know rick perry was a farmer. that means he knows how to use fred hill’s hoe and used it recently.

looked like the only one who was honest on stage last night was kinky. though, all looked really bad - it looked like a mayors race debate i onced watched in hell michigan.

gradma promised pablem for all. rick of course lied more, bell was the best speaker about nothing and kinky was the kinkiest of all.

what a choice for such a fine state.

and what a state of affairs we have ourselves in.

  7. willsin on October 7th, 2006 at 9:58 am

After last night, Kinky has my vote. The rest jsut looked like seedy, two-faced politicians.

  8. southerntragedy on October 7th, 2006 at 10:01 am

My write in candidate will be Jack in the Box.

I almost fell outa my chair when I heard Perry say he is proud of our schools. Excuse me, but does he know where Texas ranks?

  9. Neocon on October 7th, 2006 at 10:09 am

Anyone know where I can get an unbiased report of the debate, since I missed it live?

  10. BSue on October 7th, 2006 at 10:09 am

Ree-C, I can’t believe you found a clown picture that looks like Kim Jung Whozits, and that you are going to look at this clown picture all weekend long!

  11. sargevining on October 7th, 2006 at 10:11 am

I didn’t watch the debate last note, but from what I hear Republicans are on the Pro-Gay thing again.

I’ll be dammed if I let any Corridors be built for Texas Transexuals!

  12. southerntragedy on October 7th, 2006 at 10:15 am

    Neo,
You can go to channel 11 news. They said you could watch it there.

  13. Butch on October 7th, 2006 at 10:16 am

Hi all……and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Neo. Beautiful day…like Spacky says…but some of us have to work half a day.
Where will the corridor be built Sarge? Is it the new systerm planned for the Huffman area? My dad’s property is there and wondered if we should hold on to it.

  14. southerntragedy on October 7th, 2006 at 10:19 am

Butch, go to http://www.corridorwatch.org. They are having a meeting at 1pm today at the Mexican Consulate today.

yeah, thought I was taking off early today, but gotta work all day… :( Had my TTC signs all ready.

I don’t know how unbiased this is but you didn’t miss much. The format didn’t allow for long answers and the ones given didn’t stir any strong feeling of “Wow - I really need to vote for that person” in me. Chris Bell looked bland as usual but actually sounded rational and like a good choice (which I know he isn’t). Kinky sounded like a whacko. Rick sounded pompous and like he thought he had everything sewn up. Grandma sounded like she had prepared answers, none of which fit in the time allowed. So, in my opinion, the debate was a waste of time - the hardest question asked was when the guy from San Antonio asked Kinky if, considering we are trying to discourage children from starting to smoke, whether he thought it appropriate for the Governor to be constantly photographed with a huge cigar in his hand or mouth? Kinky’s answer - I’ll smoke in the Governor’s office when and if I feel like it. Said that he saw no problem in selecting “an avowed drug abuser (Willie”) for Energy Secretary but probably wouldn’t chose him for Secretary of Education. He wound up just looking ridiculous, in my opinion.

    Kinky–non PC

    Grandma –senile

Rick Perry –Still got good hair

Chris Bell — clussles ignorant wussie lib [but then again what other type of demo is there?]

  26. Butch on October 7th, 2006 at 10:58 am

Thanks ST for the link. It’s long but I will read all of it to get full information. I really think this is something Texans (and not just the team) should really take note of. We don’t need that traffic boondogle. It’s bad enough on Hwy 83 going north from Del Rio. The trucks get bigger and faster. How they get away with those rickety old things going 90 mph I don’t know. And don’t think they will slow down if you in front of them. I was there recently and one passed me in a no passing lane…..I was going 75 so he had to be going at least 90. Unbelievable.

Actually, I thought Kinky was just nervous. Someone else referred to him as a buffoon, so I just played along. He was by far the most honest of the 3.

Does Slick Rick Perry dye his hair?

If Slick Rick Perry loses, maybe he can clean Slick Jethro w Bush’s cement pond for him on Slick Jethro’s forever illegal alien free property.

Ought x Ought = The chances we have of the border fence getting built while Ciphering Slick Jethro w is president.

Two couples are on a double date when they start talking about partner swapping. They decide it would be cool to try it out. The two couples then go to a local motel. They rent two rooms for the night, and the newly shuffled couples go to their respective rooms. One couple, in their room, go wild with each other. They make love for hours. When finished, one of the two rolls over on her side, props herself on one elbow, lights up a cigarette, looks at her partner, and says: “I wonder how the guys are doing?”

    Southern DARRRRRRRRRRLIN! *wipes tears*

Fantassssstic LINK !!! We caouldn’t BUY that kinda pub let me tell ya! Kudos to NBC (wow how often can we say that anymore huh?) for not ’spinnig’ our terrible / wonderful missions!

Staff Sgt Reynolds had over 240 riders and likely a dozen support vehicles strong today in Beaumont. The Baytown staging sent 70 bikes and we broke up into groups of 9 or 10 and Barb & I are proud to have led one group over to Beaumont (smaller packs are much safer to maintain on the interstate - we took off in 3 or 4 minute intervals for safety). We gathered with the primary force at a Home Depot and had full police/ fire & S.W.A.T. escorts to a tiny church where we ringed the entire parking area to bring in the family in fine fashion. As always the car - truck driving supporters provided an ocean of bottled water. YES there were WBC protesters sequestered 500 feet from the church and we couldn’t even see them………they are SO insignificant compared to our Honor Guard - and we always turn our backs and do NOT acknowledge their presence in any form or fashion.
I’d say perhaps 10% - 15% of the riders left before the procession from the church to the cemetary (Barb & I included……..she hung in there as long as she possibly could and that’s AOK…….we rolled out at 0830 and had 2 rides totaling over 100 miles and several hours standing in the sun until about 3 PM so I say she did VERY well!). We didn’t go before we got to see the AWESOME cassion carriage that was to Carry Sgt Reynolds the last 4 miles to rest.
It’s a quite impoverished neighborhood in that part of town and the evidence of Hurricane Rita’s wrath was all around us in the form of some fully tarped roofs and lots of drowned furniture set outside homes for eventual trash collection. The local folks’ spirits were not diminshed however as they filled driveways and any open spot to cheer us as we rode in and even us stragglers that left a bit early waving flags and recognizing / HONORING another fallen HERO.
We have NO DOUBT that the family & loved ones of Sgt Reynolds now know they are NOT alone in missing and loving their fallen warrior.
PGR stands ready in hopes we do NOT ever have another mission but hold our resolve to ‘take care of business’ when we do!
*GOD BLESS AMERICA and our beloved WARRIORS!*

#92 Neo; I misread your post, and thought you we’re having to pick up the tab for lunch on your BDay, hardly appropriate! Thats what i get for posting before my second cup of joe!!! !:

Yep, who’d a thunk it, Razorbacks whuppin the Tiggers in Auburn. He hee, I love watching Auburn getting there butts kicked, but I don’t think it was a fluke. I did a scouting report of them before the Bama game and was concerned because beyond that they are tough ans especially physical, as they always are, this year they have an inordinate number of weapons; just they may be the darkhorse in the run for the national title.

    Oh, BTW, sticking to the story is always good policy, as you well know in your biz….(;

    29.95…….ooooooook, but I’m here to tell you things just really started getting good after 30 for me, so not get hung up on the numbers; is all a state of mind!! (;

Hope you had a great day, all the best!!!!

Sunday Funnies - Ramblings of a Retired Mind

I was thinking about how status symbols of today are those cell phones that everyone has clipped onto their belt or purse. I can’t afford one.
So, I’m wearing my garage door opener.

You know, I spent a fortune on deodorant before I realized that people didn’t like me anyway.

I was thinking that women should put pictures of missing husbands on beer cans!

I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is “when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.”

I thought about making a fitness movie, for folks my age, and call it “Pumping Rust.”

One man said: I have gotten that dreaded furniture disease. That’s when your chest is falling into your drawers!

I know, when people see a cat’s litter box, they always say, “Oh, have you got a cat?” Just once I want to say, “No, it’s for company!”

Employment application blanks always ask “Who is to be notified in case of an emergency?” I think you should write, “A Good Doctor!”

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do — write to these men? Why don’t they just put their
pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen could look for them while they deliver the mail? Or better yet, arrest them while they are taking
    their pictures!

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then, it dawned on me; they were cramming for their
finals. As for me, I’m just hoping God grades on the curve.

    Have a blessed day all!

    G’mornin Infidels

I’m not trying to drag out the dead horse and get the same old fights going but would rather this to be thought provoking and begin a fresh look at things.

Last weeks events and our reactions to them trouble me on several different levels. The Foley incident has split off in so many directions and each one dividing us up into smaller pieces that a consensus now is impossible but I would hope we could have a conversation about the root of it. First, this is how I saw it unfold:

1)Foley e-mails and IM’s discovered by media, Hastert and leadership either accept or ask for Foley’s resignation.

    No politics to this point

2)Democrats/MSM and moderates begin to question who knew and when.

    Politics inserted.

3)Foley-gate frenzy beginning to boil, rumors and unchecked stories flying. Some Republicans calling for Hastert and anyone else involved to resign.

4)Republicans start fighting back, Moderates start screaming its not about Democrats and double standards, its about Republican hypocricy, forget the Dems, they don’t matter.

From there I have seen us splinter of into why do we have gays in leadership to the kid was an adult to begin with and yada, yada, yada.

First off, I think we all agree Foley should be out. My problem with the above is the Moderates, who claim to be pretty much conservative can sit on the side lines and throw rocks, but ride on the backs of Republicans to carry their conservative agenda as far as it goes but don’t get in the mud to fight for any of it. My wish would be that Moderates understand that the Democrats and MSM are the Republican’s natural enemy and that they have to be fought back. It is unfair for them to give the Democrats free shots while standing on Republican’s throats. Secondly, those demanding Pope standards in our party officials must realize we aren’t going to win many elections if the standards are too high. Demanding that from your candidates is great, but as a reason to remove members I think unfair.

    B.O.I. attitude, 1881.

    THE STANDARDS OF RESPECTABILITY

In every city of the world there is a certain standard of respectability and gentility, and the man who cannot come up to the standard or be measured in the local peck measure, is not regarded as any better than a tramp. In Boston a man may be wealthy, wear fine clothes, and otherwise appear like a gentleman, but if he has not the Mayflower to bring his ancestors in, he might as well shut up shop. In New York he has to provide himself with old second-hand Dutch ancestors, or the people will say he is no better than if he was a Bostonian. In Galveston the man who sighs to be looked up to with awe and reverence has to be an old inhabitant. The longer he has been on the Island the more he is regarded as a Saint, although he may otherwise not be a fit person to associate with the inmates of the penitentiary. If a man has lived on the Island five years, they say: “We can’t tell anything about him until he gets here.” If he has lived on the Island ten years they say: “He only got off the cars yesterday. Give him a chance to vindicate himself.” After a man has lived in Galveston fifteen years the boys quit throwing brickbats at him and tying dead cats to his gate, but he is not yet looked upon as anything better than a Houston emissary. It sounds so strange to hear Galvestonians ask a man, who has lived there twenty five years, when is he going home.

On one occasion, not long since, an old man was tried in Galveston for murdering a man for money. There was no defense to speak of at all. The prosecuting attorney made a most powerful speech, showing that the murder was the most shocking one ever committed in the United States. When he got through the the attorney for the prosecution [sic] got up and said:

“Gentleman of the jury, the vile incubus from which my public-spirited client has relieved this community, had only been in Galveston fifteen years—fifteen years, gentlemen!”

“Not guilty!” roared the jurymen simultaneously without leaving their seats.

“As I was going to add,” continued the lawyer for the defense, “my public spirited old Galveston client has committed much more outrageous crimes to vindicate the respectability of Galveston, and he will continue to offer up intruders.”

    “Not guilty!” roared the jury.

“I also wish to say, gentlemen,” concluded the lawyer, “that my old Galveston client came here with Lafitte and was one of his most trusted cut-throats.”

At this last remark the welkin was rent with cheers, and the fully vindicated man was conducted in triumph to his home. It was proposed to send him to Congress, but he was afterward calmed down with a local office and the title of General.

And so I have been thinking alot about this 3rd party stuff. As a rule I do not favor one because I see no issue or no one being satisfied with a 35-40% winner (see the gov. race). If another Reagon comes thru and gets 70% great, but then alot of our problems will be resolved just because 70% of us agree on anything.

We are by no design headed for 3 parties now, the far left, Conservatives or the far right and the Moderates (Dems and Independents).

Where does the split begin with the Conservatives, Iraq and the basic philosophy? I think most Conservatives are behind the strategy but want a less PC approach.

I am not trying to flame here, but if you agree with my statement (3 party), it means the Moderates need to pick a side or form their own party.

Received the below in an email. Don’t know if it is “real” but the letter that is written is exactly what needs to be said in the MSM.

Newspapers simply won’t publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which don’t agree with the philosophy they’re pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published but with your help it will get published via cyberspace!
    New Immigrants
    From: “David LaBonte”

My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to “print” it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined.
    Dave LaBonte (signed)

Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

    Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren’t being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr.Lujan why today’s American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country’s flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2006 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I’m sorry, that’s not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900’s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn’t start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

PB, I agree he thinks our leaders are idiots.(Accurate) He thinks if he pulls out some nuke test we will talk to him and give him money. Probably because he knows thats what we will do. Thats our pattern to appease these guys going back many years.

Its kinda like Dick Cheney pulling the national security card with regard to Dems at election time. It will only work the first or second time. Its the “cry wolf” syndrome.

2,000 years ago, Moses said, “Pick up your shovel, pack your ass, mount your camel and I shall lead you to the Promised Land.”

200-plus years ago, George Washington said, “Get off your ass, use your shovel, clear the land, grow plants for camels and it will be the Promised Land.”

Last year, the Congress of the United States said “Si, Amigos, throw away your shovel, sit on your ass, light your Camels, we’re giving you the Promised Land.”
