Apparently the big signing ceremony was a sham.
President Bush to the Republican base: “Screw YOU!”
(oops, Golfer1 posted this on another thread in the comments, dang I hate when good stuff gets buried down there and I don’t see it.)
UPDATE:
I stand corrected, for now: It would appear that Congress has not officially submitted the fence bill to the White House yet. Therefore the clock has not started ticking yet. The claim is that they are waiting to sign the bill when it will have the maximum political effect. I sincerely hope that is correct, although since Congress has adjourned until after the elections, I wonder what the mechanism is that would allow the bill to be submitted after Congress has adjourned.
So, you have enslaved an entire population; threatened frequently to go nuclear; starved you people to within an inch of looking like they belong to a Nazi Concentration Camp and threatened your neighbors with invasion, annihilation and starving refugees.
So what does that get you when you finally do set off your toy? How about Congratulations?

It’s got to make a grown Dictator cry… just what do you have to do to get a little “respect” these days?

Big thanks to Peter Bretherton for the photoshop!
NASA’s Mars Rover and Orbiter Team Examines Victoria Crater
Would it be possible to fly that thing over to look at some of the Apollo landing sites? I have many constituents who think the Apollo program was faked, and they keep asking me to push NASA to provide some concrete evidence that they were not.
A group of illegal immigrants who worked for the chain have filed a class action lawsuit against Wendy’s International, Cafe Express, a Wendy’s subsidiary that fired them when it was discovered that the filing deadline for a 2001 program that allowed people with employer sponsorship or a US citizen spouse to file for citizenship was missed, and Houston-based business law firm Boyar & Miller, who missed the deadline.
From the Big Easy:
For prostitutes working the streets of New Orleans, the post-flood era has sparked a boom in business, largely owing to the influx of an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 out-of-town workers away from their families with money to blow, police said.
Heh.
This is the only kind of boom we can expect from the North Korean economy::
The chief of South Korea’s intelligence agency told lawmakers on Monday it was possible North Korea would carry out a second nuclear test, Seoul’s Yonhap news agency quoted one MP as saying.
The lawmaker also quoted Kim Seung-gyu, head of the National Intelligence Service, as telling a closed-door parliamentary committee meeting that unusual signs had been detected at a North Korean town in the afternoon.
Here’s some satellite imagery of first test site, as located by the U.S. Geological Survey’s seismographs.
Interestingly, Google Earth’s satellite imagery in that area is of higher resolution than the surrounding North Korean countryside, suggesting that we had our eye on that spot. If you have Google Earth, just type “41.294 n, 129.134 e” into the “Fly To” box and you’ll see what I mean.
Category 5 stupidity and waste…
by David Benzion · 10/09/2006 6:41 amIt’s enough to make you admire the honest abuse of taxpayer dollars through purchasing strip-club lap-dances and expensive designer handbags:
At the Pinitos Learning Center in Boca Raton, disaster workers dressed as “Windy Biggie” and “Sunny” teach 30 preschoolers a song about how the wind is good, even during a hurricane.
“Windy Biggie is our friend. Windy Biggie is strong wind. She turns, turns, turns, turns around. She’s knocking things to the ground.”
This is FEMA tax money at work. It’s also paying for Hurricane Bingo, puppet shows, “salsa for seniors,” and yoga on the beach.
