Are some of the murders robberies where the victim was killed and then it beomes a murder?

  2. LivelyDJ on October 10th, 2006 at 12:14 pm

Can you say Katrina. I know you can.

  3. trl3 on October 10th, 2006 at 12:16 pm

Yea, well at least we have red light cameras and a no chase policy.

  4. vlou on October 10th, 2006 at 12:18 pm

What else is new? Just be careful and very aware of your surroundings as you go about work, running errands, etc. Be suspicious of everyone you are not familiar with, but don’t go paranoid.

  5. LivelyDJ on October 10th, 2006 at 12:26 pm

#4 and carry a gun and know how to use it.

  6. RickG on October 10th, 2006 at 12:27 pm

But as Mayor White would point out, robbery crimes are DOWN, therefore the city is safer now than before! And he continues to get a pass.

  7. Robert on October 10th, 2006 at 12:35 pm

And you wonder why the story of Chief Hurtt resigning has surfaced. The chief obviously didn’t count on the Katrina people affecting his crime numbers. Maybe instead of being “PC”, the mayor can hire the most competent person out there. I’ll bet that’s a theory that never crossed Mayor White’s mind.

  8. CRK on October 10th, 2006 at 12:45 pm

    >

No because the most competent person would probably be a conservative and White would never go for that.

  9. Robert on October 10th, 2006 at 1:11 pm

Let me see if I understand the police department’s command structure, the mayor picks the police chief and the police chief picks his immediate staff. So if each level consists of “yes” men, then the rise in crime is Mayor White’s problem and he replaces or fires the police chief who becomes the scapegoat for the mayor. Gosh city government is efficient!!!! Does anybody know when we had a competent police chief? Because it certainly isn’t Hurtt or then Bradford, Watson, Brown—did I leave out any other incompetent persons???

8-you mean like the competent conservatives who are runnig the war in Iraq? You mean the competent conservatives who turned our national surplus into a deficit? You mean the competent conservatives who are protecting the borders? I could go on forever

  11. CRK on October 10th, 2006 at 2:41 pm

Ok yellow…. show me a competent law enforcement official that is a lefty.

  12. CRK on October 10th, 2006 at 2:49 pm

Oh, and by the way, the liberal elitists in charge of our local gubmint have done such a frickin wonderful job of that too haven’t they? Hmm?

  13. Al Williams on October 10th, 2006 at 2:52 pm

Sam Nuchia was the last competent Chief. The two before him were also morons.

That crime checker thing is a little misleading… Most of the crimes are concentrated around Westpark and Gessner, a small area of that grid.

The area they were showing really could be divied into four areas, three of which don’t have much crime. Briar Forest should be one dividing line, Dairy Ashford the other

  14. lecard on October 10th, 2006 at 3:20 pm

I just moved from this area last May. The “element” is all over the place and my wife and I feel like we have been reborn. What a pitiful mess.

  15. fasternu426 on October 10th, 2006 at 3:24 pm

    Yellow-cur
You mean like the competent Dhimmicrats that gave N Korea a Nuclear power plant?

  16. Big45Iron on October 10th, 2006 at 5:14 pm

10 Yellowdog, I basted your fanny yesterday regarding your ignorant/uninformed post on Beirut/Grenada. You back for more?

  17. gtotracker on October 10th, 2006 at 7:16 pm

I wonder if any of these crime stats include job site theft. On one job (Beltway 8 W. @ Belfort), we had to hire a security guard for three nights to babysit $14K worth of copper until the power company energized it. So far, they do not steal live wire. If they see un-connected wire hanging from a service pole, our amateur commodity traders tie a pickup on to the service and jerk the whole thing off the building. That $2 bill paying scrap metal guy needs jail time for encouraging this.

The rental company we deal with has GPS locaters on all their equipment now. When they first installed these, their stolen equipment was going to New Orleans. Catching a couple of the thieves seems to have stopped the problem. For them, at least.

What the building contractors lose is even worse. The quantities of lumber, cinder block, doors, windows, etc. is absurd. And tools,… but I’m starting to rant. Time to open a Red Stripe.

  18. CK on October 10th, 2006 at 8:40 pm

That $2 scrap metal guy Dennis is much more of a jacka$$ in person once you get to know him. He made his money the old fashioned way. He inherited it. No one I know that knows him can stand him.

  19. Yellowdogdem on October 10th, 2006 at 11:55 pm

so what do you have for me BigIron?

  20. CK on October 11th, 2006 at 8:21 am

how about logic, facts and sense compared “feelings”, slander and mindless rantings.

  21. Yellowdogdem on October 11th, 2006 at 9:49 am

I’ve never known a conservative yet who let “facts” get in the way of proving his point.

Perhaps you favor bringing back that ultimate “competent Democrat” Lee. P. Brown. to shore up the police department?
