Perry and Kinky: A study in contrasts
by David Benzion · 10/24/2006 5:10 amFor those of you who haven’t caught on yet, the photo-sharing website “Flickr” is LST’s de facto Associated Press, where we search for and discover innumerable royalty-free images to swipe for your entertainment.
So last night I do a search for “Rick Perry.” I figured he was just in Houston, and maybe someone has uploaded a photo from the rally.
Instead, I get this.
If ever there was a picture-perfect example of how Kinky Friedman ain’t Rick Perry, that’s it.
- Perry poses with his supporters giving an All-American, clean-cut, “Right Direction” thumbs up.
- Kinky poses with his supporters giving a Good ‘Ole Boy, rough-and-tumble, “Wrong Track” flip of the bird.
Absolutely classic.

As Don Merideth used to say ” Kinky is only saying he’s number 1″ when he flash’s that finger. Kind-of like the University of Texas’ flashing their two-finger Bullshit sign.
Kinky’s #1
Kinky clearly understands Austin politics, and the way most of those Austin politicians feel about your average Texan!
I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing, but I’m still voting for Kinky.
So Govenor Mo Fo gives us the thumbs up. Or is that a vote for me and I will tell you what is good for you sign.
I’ve seen a couple of videos wher Dubya gives the one finger salute. Kinky is trying to imitate the POTUS.
Like he said, if he’s not offending somebody he’s not doing his job.
Is it me, or does it seem like we the “good” republicans should not vote for Kinky, just who Dan and company approves….now, and I believe that’s “The Good Ole REPUBLICAN Boys” ONLY!!!
Listening to KSEV and surfing this site now compared to just a few months ago, It appears that something has happened, it seems very biased and sounds like the same ole thing, just a different mouth. One I used to agree with……
Wow, that Kinky has some class, huh? What will he do on inauguration night - moon the crowd like some frat boy?
Could you also include a photo of Perry signing the bill for our new business taxes?
Oh, I’m sorry. Maybe the “thumbs up” photo was the signing of the new tax bill.
Thank you. I had just about decided to go ahead and vote for Kinky. You have remineded me that the issue of Class is important. I cannot spend my valuable vote to try to send him to our State’s highest office. Just not the way I want my State to be represented to the world. The Governor’s Office in not a joke. Diginity and Respect are sorely missing in this world. Kinky loses.
“You have remineded me that the issue of Class is important.”
Yeah, Rick can be pretty classy as well…

At least Kinky does it whilr you are looking. People like Perry and Bell do it behind your back.
Hard to believe that in a state this size we don’t have a better choice than any of the fools on the ballot.
What’s a real shame # 14 is that we are the fools for electing a do nothing RINO like governor goodhair. How could he fool us so badly?

I think you said something that needed to be said. As much as some people think it is, this is not a joke. Neither is dignity and decency. Kinky looks (and acts) like a thug in that shot. My child would get severely punished for that conduct, but here some people praise it. Sort of sounds like Democrats.
RE: 11 “Just not the way I want my State to be represented to the world.”
People who are so insecure about themselves and their great state that they give a rat’s behind what other people think — they’re called Perry and Bell voters.
I still favor the de-wussification of Texas.
” I like stray dogs better than fat cats” , Kinky.
This statement from Kinky should be more than enough to support him.
Do yourself a favor and help him to take up residence at the Governor’s mansion.
#11 - Two words that summarize our current “classy” incumbent’s portrayal of Texas: “Adios MoFo.”
Think about that one before deciding he’s any better than Kinky. Also, Kinky’s evidently smart enough to know that the camera was on and posed for that picture. Governor Hairspray was too stupid to realize the camera was still rolling when he made his comment.
