Today’s Chron has a mini-hagiography of our favorite tax-avoiding tree farmer, State Sen. Jon Lindsay:
Mayor Bill White, former Mayor Bob Lanier, Harris County Judge Robert Eckels, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, and Harris County Commissioners El Franco Lee and Jerry Eversole all toasted the honoree at the Oct. 20 event.
“Jon Lindsay is a gentleman,” White said. “He holds his ground and understands that just because you disagree with somebody doesn’t mean he’s your enemy.”
Lanier said Lindsay knows how to combine “the good government aspect of issues with good politics,” and commended him for being courageous in the face of opposition when he championed the creation of toll roads in Harris County.
Golly gee, what a fellow.
LST wishes him well on his retirement. Hopefully he’s got enough cash stashed away to pay the $95 tax bill on his 13-acre tree farm.

You mean a $37 harris county tax bill…
Go KINKY and SKIP DEWHURST
If my memory serves me correctly, Jon Lindsay was found guilty of some crime or another and his political career was temporarily derailed. He then resurfaced a few years later and ran for state senate banking on the sheeple’s knack for name recognition. Good riddance!
It is unfortunate that conservatives contribute to the crassness of the debate with such headlines. I realize that our current governor popularized this headline last year in an interview with Ted Oberg but is that reason enough to use the term repeatedly? Why not have the ‘nads to use the real word?
For those in Rio Linde that don’t know what it means, go to urbandictionary.com and see for yourself. Yeah, conservatives sure enough have the high road here.
Thank God and Greyhound he’s gone! What a waste of air! The only thing he passed in the senate was the “crime” against covering up the word “Texas” on license plates. Just to generate more money from people going through the toll road.
Yeah.

Okay, extending your logic, when President Clinton says oral sex is not sex so it’s okay, then, yeah.
Got it.
bigjolly,
I don’t know what you are tying to extend, but I can assure you it’s not logic.
# 7 Maltboy!
I agree, there is no logic to the argument. Kinda like when you were a kid, you did something stupid and got caught. When your mama asked you why you did it, you tell her it was because you saw Johnny do it. And she asked you if you saw Johnny jump in front of a speeding bus, would you do that to? Point being, just because Johnny made a mistake doesn’t mean you have to.
I would just like to advise Mr Lindsey to be sure not to let the door whomp ‘em on the way out…see ya, Jon!!
Thx for nothing, you yutz!!!
Good riddance to another crooked politician!
I’ve got pine trees all over my place and plenty of acreage but I can’t get the tree growing exemption. Why was he able to get away with that?
Why wasn’t he taken to task and held accountable somehow?
Simple, politicions are the only legalized crooks. Know anyone else who can do inside trading and get away with it? Like purchasing of land for know future use. After all most are lawyers anyway. Comflict of interest all the way around. Why don’t we bring back tar and feathering?
