    Ror,

Because it is not being done to affect an election, like, vote Democrat get flu shot! To me, it is nothing more than convenience to WHOEVER shows up - voting or not voting.

Difference is Vo is trying to affect the outcome of an election, bribing Viet folks to vote dem. Pretty dem-witted, but let’s see if he indeed gets away with it like he probably did last time around.

  2. Neocon on October 30th, 2006 at 2:47 pm

Just thinking about it, maybe we should be doing more of this! Consider the dismal primary voter turnout and probably more dismal general election turnout. ;)

  3. Rorschach on October 30th, 2006 at 2:57 pm

Neo, the only way this could be legal is if you do not have to vote in order to get a free flu shot. If you have to show proof that you voted, then it is illegal. It is illegal to offer anything of value as an inducement to vote, regardless if any specific party, person, or measure was endorsed.

You are correct. That is why I said “voting or not voting” in my #2.

“Houston’s Department of Health and Human Services is setting up clinics in ****** Hispanic and black neighborhoods ******* Monday through Friday, then on Nov. 7.”

Hmmm.. either it’s a conspiracy by the white devils to infect the Hispanics and blacks with some horrible disease or a conspiracy by Dhimmicrats to influence the vote. I wonder which one it is?????

    Either way it is racist…….

  6. Chuck on October 30th, 2006 at 3:03 pm

Let’s see, do the targeted demographics tend to vote a particular way? Methinks they do. So if this gives more incentive for them to get to the polling place it places a bias on election outcome. Not right, not right at all!

    Chuck

  7. fasternu426 on October 30th, 2006 at 3:15 pm

I see it as racist. It is just a notch below giving out fried chicken and watermelon…. How patronizing can you get? Not intending to be stereotypical or racist myself, but what’s the difference if they did give those out instead of shots?

  8. Rorschach on October 30th, 2006 at 3:22 pm

#6 chuck is right, they would need to do it at ALL voting places.

  9. southerntragedy on October 30th, 2006 at 3:23 pm

Gimme the place and address (and directions) so I can get my FREE coupon and FREE flu shot! I may be a little white girl, but I want free stuff too! I have no problem showing up! :)

  10. Rorschach on October 30th, 2006 at 3:37 pm

I just got off the phone with Kathy Barton with the City of Houston Health Department. She insists that Beverly Kaufman’s office approved this. I’ve got calls in to her and the DOJ on this.

  11. fasternu426 on October 30th, 2006 at 3:51 pm

Good… I’m sure you’ll them know how racist it is…..

  12. Definitely Blonde on October 30th, 2006 at 3:52 pm

Health and Human Services is setting up clinics in Hispanic and black neighborhoods Monday through Friday, then on Nov. 7. Most other communities hold the clinics only on Election Day, said program director Douglas Shenson.

CAN WE SAY DISCRIMINATION! What happened to poor white or elderly infirmed whites.

  13. trl3 on October 30th, 2006 at 3:54 pm

If the only places this is offered are places that tend to vote mostly Democrat, then it could be perceived to be an inducment to effect the outcome of the election.

Offer it to everyone at all polling places or none at all.

  14. trl3 on October 30th, 2006 at 4:21 pm

Gee, Let’s just hang around outside polling places and give out Gift certificates to walmart to anyone that proved thay voted. Of course we should only do this in places where most of the people will vote the way I believe is the right way to vote.

  15. CRK on October 30th, 2006 at 4:39 pm

Isn’t this the way AIDS started? Didn’t whitey intentionally infect those black africans by tellin em they was gettin an innockolashun fo free while deys be votin in an election? Ah smells racizm.

  16. GopBob on October 30th, 2006 at 4:48 pm

I voted at the Alief Regional Library, no shots being offered there. This is discrimination and DOJ should find it illegal as it is targeting a demographic and inducing them to come vote. It stinks!

  17. Sluth on October 30th, 2006 at 5:21 pm

Look at the discrimination issue at the community college level… They are possibly not complying with a DOJ consent decree in advising and notifying minorities of the election so that they …will not participate so maybe they can skew the election in another way?

My what strange bedfellows an election….electioneering brings out!

Perhaps if we has a barcode on each voter then we could better tailor an election to their very needs, wants and emotional desires. Then we could keep our political public sector jobs just like the Roman Empire!…….

  18. tedtam on October 30th, 2006 at 9:01 pm

Why don’t we get a buncha white folks and head on down to one of these early voting places and get our free shots after we vote? Maybe make a phone call to some media outlet? Take pictures for LST?

I’m ready! Let’s go! BTW, I don’t think you have to be registered to vote and you certainly will not be allowed to show any ID, so why the heck not? You think my skin and hair color would give me away?

  20. tedtam on October 30th, 2006 at 9:36 pm

As true “liberals,” I am sure that skin color would not matter. Are we not supposed to base decisions or behavior on ethnicity, religious, or sexual characteristics?

LOL! Excellent example of Liberal hipoocracy. If you are black, stay on the plantation - do as we tell you to do! If you are hispanic of asian, fall in line, we will make sure you have everything you need! Oh, and BTW, whatever you do, do not THINK for yourselves! You have us to do that for you! Poor deluded Dhimocraps!

  22. vlou on October 30th, 2006 at 9:52 pm

This is disgraceful for me as a minority - PolyEurasian - Polynesian, European, Asian. I am highly offended that anyone would bribe minorities and think that we would fall for it - adding insult to injury. I am not stupid or ignorant, just well-educated enough to know better and do what is right. I am a conservative, law abiding citizen. This is wrong!

  23. tedtam on October 30th, 2006 at 9:54 pm

You go! I always wondered why minorities allowed people to tell them they were too stupid to think for themselves, to irresponsible to be trusted with their money, and too worthless to be treated with the respect they deserve.

  24. Neocon on October 30th, 2006 at 11:41 pm

    vlou and tedtam,

I agree! It happens too often! If you really ask minorities (blacks, hispanics, asians, etc.) what their values are, they are generally conservative. Why, oh why, are they led like lambs to the slaughter to vote for something completely opposite their views? For instance, blacks are generally against abortion, but vote 90%Democratic! I can’t figure this out. My best friend happens to be black and got me involved in Texas Tea Party Republic Women’s organization (of which I am a “card carrying” member). She tells me blacks vote that way because they were raised to vote Democratic. Any of them who actually TELL their neighbors they are voting Republican are laughed at and derided. It is very sad that they cannot see that the dems will do absolutely nothing for them and the repubs are the party of equal rights. Believe me, she has banged her head against a wall trying to make them see and the derision she has been met with is something to see!

  25. tedtam on October 30th, 2006 at 11:47 pm

My son was in a class with a black teacher in a predominantly black/hispanic class, when one student asked what the difference between Democrats and Republicans was. I quote (as accurately as I can): “The Democrats are for the people, and the Republicans are for the rich. {As if rich people aren’t real people - editorial note} You can remember that because Republican and rich both start with ‘R’”. Then she proceeded to tell them that the Republicans were trying to take their program money to give to their rich friends. I know this because my very upset white son came home and asked me if this was true. I met the teacher and asked if she did, indeed, say this, and she confirmed it. I then told her that what she said was her opinion, not fact, and that she should have (1) instructed the child to ask his parents, since politics was not part of the 7th grade reading program, or (2) engaged in an open discussion without taking sides. She literally put her hand in my face and said that since I had talked with my son, I had done what I should have done and she didn’t want to discuss it any more.

That is truly sad. This happens more often than not, especially in our halls of higher education. If black children are grounded at home, this effect can be negated.

Even some popoular stars are coming out bout the dumbing down of our America school chilrden:

This is no different from handing out free food stamps at the polls for “the poor and minorities”. It is big-government taxpayer dollars being used to influence an election in favor of … ummm … big government and taxpayer dollars. This is clearly a government sponsored incentive to a particular demographic. They must do it at every polling place or shut it down, and if they do not, I hope every thinking Houstonian that lives in those districts files suit.

  28. SRK2000 on October 31st, 2006 at 6:11 am

So let me get this straight … blacks and hispanics over the age of fifty. So …. we will require ID and perform racial profiling at the polls right?

  29. jkcjkc on November 1st, 2006 at 2:02 pm

This is a travesty of justice and as usual, nothing will be done about it.

I guess racial profiling is ok if it’s done in their favor, to get something for nothing on our tax dollar.

As usual, the politicians know what motivates the leaches of society. Just as they reward these people having more babies out of wedlock, with no responsible fathers in the picture to support them, making them beholding to the government breast milk, so that the targeted people can multiply like the destructive roaches that they are..
What is the reason? Agendas & Votes.
Isn’t anyone angry about this yet?! I Am.

    Tedtam,
You NEED to contact the principle and the school board about that teacher. It is not only a lie, it is INDOCTRINATION!
    Get her out there!
