LST: Dan Patrick for TX Senate 7
by David Benzion · 10/31/2006 12:11 amBy unanimous consent, LoneStarTimes.com suggests you consider voting for Dan Patrick for Texas Senate, District 7.
If Kinky Friedman were a Republican, Evangelical, socially-conservative Gentile, his name would be “Dan Patrick.”
- Both are entertaining.
- Both are unpredictable.
- Both appear to be genetically compelled to speak their minds, regardless of consequence.
- And both, once in office, will make the professional political class absolutely miserable.
Think of all the people a Senator Dan Patrick is destined to annoy the Hell out of:
- The editors of the Houston Chronicle
- Lt. Governor David Dewhurst
- “Collegial” fellow Senators
- RINO State Representatives
- Taxpayer-funded lobbying groups like the Texas Municipal League and Texas Association of Counties
If Dan manages to accomplish all that while failing completely to lower our property taxes by a single penny or stop even one illegal alien from crossing the border, we will consider his term in office a success.
Which is not to say that we agree with him on every issue, or that he’s perfect. Dan would be the first person to admit that he sometimes makes mistakes–most notably, in our view, his failure to appreciate the tremendous commercial potential of a daily, libertarian-leaning, Jewish-flavored talk-show heavy on Generation-X style humor and blogger-esque sarcasm.
But now is not the time to be petty.
Dan Patrick is a good man who, however much he may stumble in the process, usually manages to end up in the right place, doing the right thing when it is all said and done.
That’s a lot more than can be said for most folks, ourselves included.
Most importantly, we believe he cares infinitely more about maintaining and honoring the special relationship he has developed with his radio audience over the years than he will about maintaining his own power or honoring himself.
That’s a good thing. LoneStarTimes.com looks forward to Dan Patrick going to Austin to be Our Voice.

How can one say enough good things about this true Revolutionary. I hope Gov. Perry doesn’t put him on some wothless Commitee were his ideas and momentum will be squshed by the likes of Dewhurst and Hill.
We will be able to hear about the goin’s on in Austin via Dan’s reports on KSEV and KVCE in Dallas/Ft. Worth.. We’ll finally have someone on the “inside” letting us know who’s on the our (the taxpayers) side and who’s not. This is really going to be interesting!!!!
I’m not in Dans district, but if I were I’d certainly vote for him. I don’t know if he can get anything done right off the bat, but with a radio station in Houston and Dallas, he’ll be able to shine some light on the cockroaches in Austin. If nothing gets done this session, you can bet that there’ll be a grass roots house cleaning, next primary.
#2 malcolm, interesting yes! But also a whole lotta fun, I can’t wait to hear from Fred, where’s my hoe, Hill, Dan has a radio station in his back yard, I wonder how long he can keep his seat.
The only thing that’s sad about all of this, is that this is what the status quo brought upon themselves! All they had to do for the first bus trip, was pretend to be on our side and they could have bought some time. I truly think that they “STILL” don’t get it!
A “rebel rouser” or a “thorn”, Dan will be our voice in Austin. Having a radio station is a powerful tool for getting out the message. The revolution for change has to start somewhere, it might as well be with Dan!!!
I can not wait for Dan to be reporting what is actually happening and naming names once in session! That’ll put a crimp in 3 am raises!
Who is this Dan guy everyone is talking about? =D
heres another “take” or different viewpoint on Dan by the Raleigh Tavern Philosophical Society

Yes, vote for Dan Patrick!
He’ll accomplish more in 4 years than Jesus did in 33.
I wish I could vote for Dan! His picture, in last week’s Friendswood Journal, set the teeth of the tax-and-spenders in Friendswood on edge!
Oh my goodness, do you think we can wait and see what will happen?
There have been politicians promissing things since the beginning of the election process. They all say they will represent us and they all fail.
I’m a wait and see guy, especially after Dan started telling us who to vote for.
Now who’s drinking the Kool-Aid?
Watch what you say about others, as you can see, the three fingers you were holding in your hand while you were pointing at the kool-aid drinkers are, in fact, pointing back at you.
#1 has a good point that will be fact, as it is with ALL Jr reps.
#9 (joebexar) Watch your comment. As Christians, I don’t believe Dan (or Ed Young) would appreciate that comment either.
Wow, I can’t believe you mocking God like that.
I voted for Dan, but I did it without a fish fry.
Woohoo!
