did Madonna and Angelina adopt kids, or fashion accessories…

  2. sunny on October 31st, 2006 at 6:24 pm

Well, I for one, think it’s wonderful these little children have a chance at a better life, rather than perhaps die alone in an orphanage somewhere…or starve and get diseases.

Just be glad that they didn’t adopt a panda!

What is wrong with adopting cute black babies ‘ made in USA”?
I suppose ‘foreign made’ sounds exotic.

It’s kind of ‘damned if they do and damned if they don’t', isn’t it?

In my very humble opinion, I say good luck to them. If they are able to afford to help these children (and they are) why should they be held up to ridicule?

Does it really matter what country a baby comes from?

It’s not necessary to criticize everything…all of the time, just for the sake of criticism…again, this is my humble opinion.

    Sunny,

I hope it doesn’t become a “fashion” thing for these rich liberals to adopt an African child. How much time do you really believe Madonna will really devote to her “child?” This reminds me of the English slave trade - you are just not “in” unless you have a slave or two - cute little African boys, fanning you when it is hot. I just cannot look at these liberals who want to “save” African children as really wanting to do this for the of good of the child, instead of it just being the fashion of the day. Despicable!

    Linky no worky!

Well…I acknowledge your thoughts on the issue, Neocon…but one must remember Madonna has donated a few million to the orphanage, as well. I think it’s a shame to bring politics into it.

    I agree to disagree! ;)

#7…’linky no worky’ for me either! :)

  11. Neocon on October 31st, 2006 at 9:43 pm

    Sunny,

I am not bringing politics into it by saying I hope that other celebrities do not follow suit ONLY as a fashion statement. Madana never even thought of adopting an African child until Bradgelina told her it was a cool thing to do! We will see in a year or two whether Madonna has anything to do with her new “son” or whether she just gets tired of him and is off on another tangent. Sorry I am so cynical, but I would rather wait and watch.

#11…Fair enough, Neocon…I just hope for the sake of the children involved this does not eventuate.

Maybe I’m just a big softie and should learn to toughen up on some issues! ;)

    Sunny,

Like I said, I’m cynical. I pray that you are correct and that these children will be taken care of. My cynical side has said it is not going to happen. Like I said, let’s wait and see. ;)

P.S. Nothing wrong with being a softie! I’m one of the biggest ones there is!

God! I even cry in happy movies, Neo! ;)

O.K. Here’s my take on this whole adoption deal. When I was adopted in the 60’s, the “adopted” parents went through a lengthy process. They matched up birth parents to adopted parents. There was no changing minds back then. A done deal. These days in the USA, people adopt kids and then either the dad sues for the kid, or the mom changes her mind, and these kids are then ripped outa the arms of the adopted parents. Talk about a heart break. This doesn’t seem to happen overseas. That’s how I see it, but again, I could be wrong. It does seem these days that he who has money can adopt, even if they could be bad parents./standing off soapbox now…

    Sunny

I cry at the drop of a hat! Like the other day when Soldier Mom (Elizabeth) was introducing Josh to us at LST. When he responded, I absolutely lost all logical thought and my emotions took over. I am so very proud of him and all our military personnel. It was extremely hard for me to not be emotional. So, I know where you come from! ;)

  19. sunny on October 31st, 2006 at 10:52 pm

Yes, I saw Josh and Elizabeth’s posts and it affected me similarly, Neocon. I feel proud of all our men and women in the services…both yours and ours.

Southerntragedy…that doesn’t happen in this country that I am aware of. That would be a terrible situation for anyone to have to go through.

  20. Al Williams on October 31st, 2006 at 11:08 pm

I say ‘fashion accessory’, because both Angelina and Madonna have proven themselves to be perfectly able to have kids of their own.

With the latest ‘fashion accessory’ they look good to those whose brains have fallen out (you know… their minds are so open their brains fell out)

I have a friend who went to China to adopt a kid…
One reason is because he and his wife can’t have kids, the other is because the adoption process in the US takes too long, and there aren’t many American babies being put up for adoption anymore…

  21. sunny on October 31st, 2006 at 11:11 pm

#20…Madonna is now 47/48 so I would think that her child-bearing years are over.

I have friends who adopted two Korean babies. The adoption process was too long in this country as well and I think their age at the time was against them too…even though they were only in their late thirties at the tiem.

Sorry about that - google WORLD VISION MADONNA and it comes up. In short, they are investigating as there seems to be some legal steps incorrectly taken. World Vision (great organization) states that they prefer the child be left in tact with the family rather than be taken away although surely they appreciate any financial support from Madonna or anyone else.
