Yes, I think I will go with K. Friedman because I support the de-wussification of Texas.

If people are crackheads, call them that.

And I don’t think much of R. Perry’s new ads showing him inspecting the border.

  4. mobbo on October 31st, 2006 at 2:17 am

I’m voting Kinky. Rick Perry taxed my small business with the new franchise tax, then lied to my face about lowering my property taxes. He is clearly wearing a “For Sale” sign (just ask TXU, who had all their power plant applications fast-tracked… after giving Perry a nice kickback, I mean donation). I hate anyone who imposes new taxes, Republican or Democrat. I already shell out 48% in taxes to the federal government after all is said and done.
    GO KINKY!

  5. Elizabeth on October 31st, 2006 at 3:25 am

Can’t sleep and mulling over this Kinky/Perry thing. I can only base my opinions on what the candidates say and what I hear from other people concerning their views. This is my undertstanding so far and please correct me if I am wrong.

Perry comes on strong with bold promises that most conservatives believe is bunk only regurgitated to be elected.

Kinky is a “wild card” bet who’s basic principles sound good, but he has yet to prove himself in any other political arena and it be a hoot if he actually won and did a bang up job to prove what a lying sack of excrement Perry was all along…

Meanwhile, we lucky folks in 22 get the honor of choosing between Shelley, who is waving poms-poms, singing that bizarre campaign jingle and scaring old ladies and small children…Bell, who I remember as a 3 AM Moon Bat local radio talk show host and some one named Lampson who is as memorable as last Thursday’s fast food lunch.

Think I’ll wage my bet with Kinky and roll the dice concerning everyone else…

These kinds of decisions should come with free adult beverages, glittered up show girls and atleast one Wayne Newton show.

  6. mobbo on October 31st, 2006 at 3:54 am

Ya, I am not able to sleep because I am working my tail off at the office to compensate for the 48%+ in taxes I pay.

Anywho, I normally vote Republican but what is very clear to many of my Republican friends and I is that many of these people in office will spout conservative values left and right just to get the job, then go to work for the highest bidder.

The reason I CANNOT vote for Perry is that he blatantly does NOT work for you and me. He works for the people who fork over thousands of dollars in exchange for favors. It’s well documented and it is an insult. The problem is YOU and I actually give a damn and pay attention (thank God).

I think Kinky deserves a shot. At least with Kinky, no corporation or big donor will get executive orders, face time, or respect. I also think he can do a lot to stop the TTC. I also like his stance on guns (someone on here said he doesn’t support guns, but that is absolutely not true. His site says he supports the 2nd ammendment with the same importance as all other ammendments).

  7. golfer1 on October 31st, 2006 at 5:09 am

Why have you not endorsed Dwayne Bohac for State Rep 138? He was one of only three Republicans to vote against Perry’s business tax…

  8. golfer1 on October 31st, 2006 at 5:12 am

Here’s one suggestion. I tried to post a couple minutes ago, but it has not appeared yet.

Why have you not endorsed Dwayne Bohac for State Rep 138? He was one of only three Republicans to vote against Perry’s business tax…

  9. BSue on October 31st, 2006 at 5:36 am

You guys are way too slow for me with the “endorsements.” I voted the first day of early voting in Montgomery County. With my job, I never know from day to day when/where I’ll be - so when the opportunity arose, I took it. I have taken a policy of not voting in a particular race if I don’t know anything about it, so the “suggestions for my voting consideration” would have been handy in a couple of races, which I left blank. But that doesn’t count the LtGov race, which I left blank deliberately!

  10. dugger on October 31st, 2006 at 6:16 am

If in your heart you feel Kinky is right, then vote Kinky. Don’t let people who would rather keep people in office who’s failed them in the past tell you your wasting your vote and Bell might win. He might. But it’s your vote damn it, so you it as you choose. That will be the only way real change will ever take place.

As for Dan’s fear of skipping down ballot races, with the new E voting machines, you can’t really skip over races. The machine forces you to look at every race. You can’t just punch a vote for Kinky then yank your card out and drop it in the can.

  16. Squawkbox Noise on October 31st, 2006 at 8:06 am

Anyone else but me notice that Perry’s “way to liberal ad” slams Bell for voting for higher taxes 10 times when the state has a huge cash bank yet does not have an ad about cutting taxes because that huge cash surplus?

And you wonder why I say vote Kinky.

    The Elephant in the Room
    The Elephant in the Room.

    Worth the read…

Written from a slef-proclaimed “hawkish, liberal, Jewish perspective”, this discusses the differences in conservatives’ and liberals’ behavior.

“The conservative view of politics holds that it does not encompass all spheres of human activity… There is no sound reason, for example, to reject association with like-minded parents, or friendships with co-workers, or the company of one’s own mother, on the grounds of political disagreements. Yet we see emphatic Democrats doing all these things in Kornblut’s piece. Why? We can only hypothesize, with the caveat that perhaps, if the tables were turned, Republicans and conservatives might behave the same way toward their family and neighbors — even if, in the last comparable period, from January 1993 through January 1995, it doesn’t seem they did.”

“I think the plain and simple explanation for all this is that on the left politics is a substitute for religion. Or to put it another way, we think they are clueless. They think we are evil.”

In the spirit of Halloween and knowing the Democrats have to try to hide their idenitities from the public, I have comprised a list of my “Top Ten” costumes that certain Democrats will be wearing tonight:

    1) Hillary will be wearing a “metromale with a slight moderate look” costume.

    2) Bill Clinton will be wearing a “First Black President” costume.

    3) John Kerry will be wearing a “GI Joe” costume.

    4) Ted Kennedy will be wearing a “lifeguard” costume.

    5) Howard Dean will be wearing a “human being” costume.

    6) Shelia Jackson Lee will be wearing an “oreo” or “TV Camera” costume.

    7) Jesse Jackson will be wearing a “devil” costume.

    8) Barney Frank will be wearing a “Rambo” costume.

    9) Harry Reid will be wearing an “Abe Lincoln” costume.

    10) Nancy Pelosi will be wearing a “Speaker of the House” costume.

I hope you all enjoy these. Feel free to add to my list or give alternative costume suggestions.

Voted straight Liberiterian except for Kinky. Didn’t vote for any rino’s or demos. hutch like perry is a rino so she is also a no vote.

Yesterday noticed school buses picking up the illegals on janitorial strike downtown. Ain’t it great bush, perry, hutchinson, white and company do nothing about the illegals but the taxpayers supply money for public transportation.

I thought this was a decent commentary on the political correctness surrounding Muslims: Oh, Those Mischievous Muslims!

And let’s not forget the millions (tens of millions? hundreds of millions?) of Muslims who aren’t actually killing anyone, or condoning the killing of anyone (except Jews, of course), who nevertheless think it would be swell if the whole world lived under Islamic law – with honor-killings and genital-mutilation for all.

#22 the next war somewhere arond 2020-2025 will be a war on the muslims. there teachings of children have guarenteed that. as they grow up the hatred will be more open.

it will be a religous war no matter how we try to escape it.

  24. bweldon on October 31st, 2006 at 9:47 am

#23, actually the war has been going on for 20+ years it is just that we have been able to turn a blind eye towards it up until the last 5-10 years. But there are still more people who cannot see it. Just look at the problems Spain and France are having with the generation that were children back when things were really pushed to the next level.

Even though the LST editorial staff didn’t mention it, I’d like to throw another race out for everyone to watch when they vote: (Harris County Criminal Court) District Judge, 185th District. Republican incumbant Judge Susan Brown is facing a challenge by Randall Kallinen, a liberal criminal defense lawyer and the current President of the Houston chapter of the ACLU. If you happen to be in this district, please make sure to select Judge Brown.

The islamics are already at war in France. They attack the police with rocks and molotov cocktails every time they arrest one of the muslims kids. Thus far 2500 French police have been killed or injured. The politicians blame the police and do nothing about it or say it is not that big a problem - I say 10 years or less before a religious war breaks out and I am betting on the islamics. Too many queers, women’s rights and liberals who won’t fight back insuring their death and the conquest of the rest of us. Queers are beheaded, liberals will be killed as they have no belief in God and will want the law to stop it - which it won’t - and the women’s libers will be stoned.

  34. ThunderHawkk on October 31st, 2006 at 11:20 am

Seems like a waste of time that so many Americans died liberating France from the Nazi’s.

Question: When the Islamist scum take over France, are we going to have to remove all of the bodies of our D-Day soldiers (and other battles) from the country? The Islamist muslim scum may dig them up and desecrate them.

I voted absentee on Friday and they had a list of the write-in names posted in the voting booth. It was pretty easy but I can’t figure out why there can’t be a consensus as to spelling. Since you have to be a fee paid registered write-in, one would think for speeding up the election process that “Gibbs” would be sufficent. I’ll bet the Dishonestcrats wanted to deter the write-in by requiring a full spell out of Shelley Sekula Gibbs to avoid the “hanging chad” scenerio!!!

MIKE… “THE STALKER”… STARK STRIKES AGAIN

    Allen Rally Marred By Protests

After a 45 minute rally that featured speeches by Allen’s wife and North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole, Allen was approached by a man and asked why he had spit in the face of his first wife. After Allen did not answer, the man became aggressive and Allen staffers and supporters tackled him to the ground and forcibly removed him from the hotel.

Glynne, the answer to your first question is yes. Your voter registration must reflect your actual residence, unless you’ve just moved and don’t have your new registration yet. Quoth the Texas Election Code, Section 11.003:

Except as otherwise provided by this code, a person may vote only in the election precinct in which the person resides.

If you want to narc on someone, you go to the tax assessor-collector and file a challenge. Here’s the link to Bettencourt’s office.

Uhhh, here’s the rules for trick or treating….If you do not want to participate, turn off your front porch light. If you do not have candy, then you’d better have something. Ex. money, tuna, new toothbrushes, a bicycle, coupons…just something…If my kids go to a house, and I SEE them eating dinner, and they have their front porch light on, we will not go away…we will ring the bell, over and over and over and over….

  65. Dave D on October 31st, 2006 at 10:10 pm

#64 southerntragedy, We’ve lived in the same neighborhood for 23 years, when we moved here we didn’t have kids but everyone else did, so we enjoyed the kids coming over for Halloween, then we had kids and we went out and savaged the neighborhood, now our kids are grown, and in the last couple of years the traffic has been kinda slow. But this year it picked up quite a bit and we had to send the boy out for more candy! Damn! ain’t life good! You can find it if you want to.
I’ll never forget when my son was about 8, I think, and had a bum leg, and it was about 38′ and raining, I put him on my shoulders and we went as a giant. We made quite a haul because we were the only ones stupid enough to be out in that kind of weather! I love Halloween! Easter is second, dying three dozen eggs, on the kitchen counter!

#63 Lol! You are my kinda gal! I can hear you now… “Get off your a$$ and give us green beans or something - or turn your $%^$$* porch light off!” (We might be a wee bit scary for some folks but our kids turn out to be the BEST kind of people! They HAD to in order to survive!)

    Isn’t that Joseph Smith?

#66 Elizabeth, in our neighborhood the guys would slip the Dads a cold beer. Yes we were rednecks! And damn proud of it BTW.

  69. Dave D on October 31st, 2006 at 10:18 pm

One more thing, we used to have people come into our neighborhood, and dump off about 20 teenagers, to scavenge for candy, don’t think that was right.

Hello,…Ahem, tap, tap, tap, am I all alone here? Sorry st, I couldn’t resist!

Ain’t that the truth?! We live in the country now and our only tricksters are bulls, coyotes and a donkey. But before we moved here 5 years ago I swear some of those “kids” trick or treating needed a shave and qualified to collect SS.

My #68 I forgot to say that I wore a trench coat so all that you could see was Dusty.

I live in Fairfield off 290 and Mason Rd. We get bussed in folks from surrounding counties, like Waller. We get 40 to 50 kids at a time and have to provide three times what most folk give to the kids. We get kids bussed in (or trailored) in from many neighborhoods which are considered dangerous into our neihborhood which is considered safe. They come in on “hay rides” and stuff. I say stuff it. Go back to your neighborhoods and if they are not safe, do something to improve them.

#71 Elizabeth, I love donkeys, we had a Jenny when I was a kid, we also had horses, and the donkey was by far the most intelligent. My sister has Mules and rides them like you would a horse.
My sister tells a funny story about going to buy the best mule that they ever had, they guy had Belgian Mares (draft horses), and a very big Jack to service them, he kept the mares in a pasture with a Shetland pony stud, as soon as one of the mares came in season the poor little pony would do his best to mount her but to no avail. Then the farmer would put her into a pen with the Jack to breed. My sister said that the poor little bastard had the worst job in the world!

Josh was strangely sensitive about Halloween - always hated it. Only way he would participate was at church sponsored parties and festivals. I thought the kids were cute - but I could skip it altogether as well.

#70 Dave, feel free..Life’s too short! Anybody else, I don’t care!

I do live in a rural neighborhood, and the driveways are 500ft from the road and houses spread out. I always go to my mama’s neighborhood to go trick or treating (cause I know the people). My kids are always saying, ‘C’mon mom! Quit talking. Let’s go!’ But to me, it’s the only time I get to talk to the people I grew up with and for them to see my kids. I even drive the extra mile to visit my old piano teacher. Sigh…

Elizabeth, I love donkeys we had a Jenny when I was small, we also had horses but the donkey was by far the most intelligent. My sister has mules and rides them just like most folks ride horses.
She likes to tell the story about when they bought their best mule; the guy had Belgian mares, (draft horses,) and a large Jack to service them. He also had a Shetland pony that was in the pasture with the mares, when one of them would come in season the little pony would do his best to mount up but to no avail. The farmer would then take the mare to the Jack for breeding. My sister said that the poor little guy had the worst job in the world.

Dave: I went to Big Bend when I was 15 and went on a trail ride through the mountains. Everybody chose a horse, but I chose a mule. When everybody was slippin’ and a slidin’ on those rocks and steep canyons, my mule was sure footed….HA! My neighbor has 2 mules and I love them! Din’t know the names of them when I moved into my new house, but I called one of them Festus…uhhhh, his name WAS Festus….go figgure…..GUNSMOKE! Yeah, baby! I have found that most donkeys and shetlands have been mean to me….Smart to try and get you offa them…Took a donkey on a trail ride when I was a kid, and finally had to trailer him because I was tired of fighting with him and my feet dragging the ground….

#76 st, I’m 680 miles from where I was born and raised and it just floors me, that you guys grew up just like me, and have real values. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but about a year ago, I found out that my Grandfathers brother was buried about 5 miles from my deer lease in east Texas, I met his son last year, he is 89, will be 90 this November.
    Damn it’s a small world! My homeplace;

BTW; Elizabeth, How long is that boy of yours going to be here? I know that he said that he had been deployed for 3 years! Man that’s a long time.
I know you’re proud of him, and rightfully so. It just chaps my posterior, that most people just don’t understand what is going on in this world.
If you can read, thank a teacher, if you can read it in English, thank a soldier.

#80 st, I wish that you could meet my sister, she is soo much like you, she lives on 180 acres that was her husband’s grandpa’s land, and they lease 700 acres of land that they run cattle on. I live in the damn suburbs! I can’t move because on this side of Houston, there is NO land, that is not sold by the square foot, and I work at the Rocket Ranch, and will be there for a few more years.
Gotta go, it’s been a pleasure.
    Nite-all
