The United States produces at least 80 percent of the world’s pecans. The U.S. crop typically ranges between 300 and 400 million pounds. Other countries that produce pecans are Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Israel, China and Argentina.

Georgia is the top producing state in the U.S. in most years. Texas is second (but occasionally first) with an average crop for Texas being about 60 million pounds.—Texas Pecan Growers Association

    Screw you, Chronicle.

I saw this in the barnacle and had the same thought about all that’s going on and they put this on the front? It’s no wonder they get no respect from anyone anymore.

MEANWHILE, John Kerry’s slander of our troops was dismissed as a nothing on page 10.

hey its not only the chron. i personaly watch no local channels 2 11 or 13 (many others) but will watch 26.

if you have hdtv and use a local antenna you will get several channel 2’s 11’s 13’s etc. you can get weather there. the local newcasters are not much different than the chon and their paper.

i have to ask my son and his wife for old papers so i can snap green beans into it before i throw it away.

the old news is just that old and biased.

The comical often irates me by throwing copies of their paper in my yard which I then have to pick up and throw away. This week however, I have found it useful in that I can use it to help me start a fire in the wood stove at the deer lease this weekend.

Like there aren’t enough nuts in France already.

Don’t know ’bout anyone else’s pecan trees, but we got us a bumper crop this year…keep getting beaned by the darn things as walk in my yard…idiots invading my property to pick ‘em up…and the trees still have hundreds just waiting for the next big blow!

You guys forgot to mention the front page online story … celebrating “The Day of the Dead” … apparently a Mexican tradition moved to this humble Mexican territory we call Houston. That’s ok, as long as it doesn’t interfere with Cinco de Mayo (flubbed that spelling) and we don’t mention Christmas … err, Winter Holiday.

Today is All Saints Day in the Catholic Church, where we honor all of the Saints. It is a required day of worship for us, where we offer a Mass to show them respect. (Halloween is actually a contracted form of “All Hallows Eve,” referring to the evening before All Saints Day.) Tomorrow is All Souls Day, where we honor all of our departed. Do I hear about this in the media?

Going on 2 years since I cancelled this communist rag and I’ve never been happier. I can’t express how much I despise the Communist/Liberal/Socialist scum who write and edit that rag.

I wish they’d go bankrupt and shut down! Worthless waste of trees and ink.

Hey, I’ve been waiting on the nuts to France piece!

Come on gang, didn’t you get the memo? This is the stuff World-Class newspapers talk about! You unwashed masses just can’t appreciate the brilliance emanating from our World-Class elites.
