And well, he shouldn’t be. Hastert only came out of the woodwork when he, himself, got into trouble. He never used his Speakers position to promote things—–he just sat on his hands. Good riddance!!!!
Culberson would be a good one. I don’t think he’s been there long enough though. You know how these systems are about senority, not common sense.
At least we have a Speaker of the House who can see her feet.

Leaader means doing something and providing an example. He never did lead, he held a position.
The GOP house “leadership” of Hastert and Frist was about as weak as it gets. Rumsfield is out but at least he had a backbone and walked the walk. Where is Newt?

I agree the GOP leadership was very weak. We never saw either one of those so-called leaders step forward. Heck, if you listen to the liberal media, they always asked the Democrat minority leaders and minority chairmans for their comments as if they were in the majority. Either Hastert or Frist ever came forward and asked “Why are you asking them, they’re the minority??” The Republicans never learned to govern from the majority!!!!!!, they were too used to being overrun by the Democrats to stop it.

I believe that you may be EXACTLY right. They (The Repubs) were so use to being pulled around by a nose ring that when they got the power and a majority, they didn’t know what to do with it. They had been cow-towing to the dems for 40+ years. They had a Repub controlled House, same for the Senate and a Rebub pres. for the first time in a long, long time and look what happened. They have no one else to blame but themselves! They could have made this country a much better place for ALL americans, made us much stronger and independent from many foreign influences (including oil) and taken us back to moral values, common sense and sense of family. (85% of Americans still declare their belief in GOD) They (the folks in charge) could have told the many special interst groups to go “bite a wild hog” and sit down and shut up! (Hogfan: that’s for you!)They deserve what has happened to them, but I’m not sure that we do! We have to be more selective in the people we elect to office and demand that they vote the way they vowed before being elected.
The corruption and money influences in Washinton is more that any of us could possibly imagine. I suppose that’s why so many go there with the best of intentions but fall to the inside influences. I’d like for Dan to tell us what goes on in a state level and I think John Culbertson is trying to do the same on a national one. But, What do I know? A hillbilly from Arkansas who didn’t wear shoes until he went to grade shool and then it was required. Now I’m having my senior citizens’ birthday on Saturday and still go barefooted every chance I get! I know that most of you have strong emotional and intellectual ties to one party or the other and how that support will effect your/our lives while on this earth. However, there’s only ONE that knows how this is going to playout and I hope and pray that you all know HIM before it’s too late. All else REALLY doesn’t matter one teensey tiney bit.
/malcolm is going to have dinner with his bride of most of his life and wish you a most pleasnat evening and all the very best to your family and loved ones!
One more thing…… I got a call from a real friend who had two long chemo sessions for an extremely rare form of lymphnoma cancer in the last two years and he said to me: “Today, I found out that I am completely cancer free and I thank you for your friendship, your prayers on my and my family’s behalf and all of your support from the bottom of my heart! Praise be to God and the power of prayer!” We all could learn a thing or two from this man.
