I was all set to post about this myself before HAL tanked on us again. I was going to title it something to the effect: “The decent into madness has begun…” but then I got to thinking about it. This might not be so bad after all. If he can manage to get him confirmed before the end of the year, then he’ll still have a Republican (well sort of…) Senate to bounce it off of. So timing is an issue even more now that we know the Senate may flip on us.

And Gates is fundamentally different in his approach, Whereas Rummy wants to go toe to toe and duke it out. Gates is more a Psy-ops kind of guy. He’ll infiltrate you, gather info, and then take your entire operation down, while feeding the local media plenty of propaganda to distribute for you, possibly at the barrel of a gun. In this sort of war, that might be a better way to approach it.

Well, maybe a shakeup is good before we get to 2008 and Democrats won’t have Rumsfeld to kick around. I hope all of what has happen is a MAJOR wakeup call for the Republicans. President Bush has two years to get it done in Iraq or the Republicans are doomed in 2008.

I love a man with a sense of humor. If he can dance, too, that’s even better! I think one has to be able to laugh to handle that kind of job. It has to be difficult.

Gates has turned A&M to a liberal college and the diversification program is a joke. It is a mandated quota program. Sad thing is that Pelosi is against him so he may stay in College Station to continue his quota college conversion.

I think this change was inevitable. The Adm also should look at the commanding generals and put someone in there who will not be afraid to offend anyone. (Wish Patton were still with us!).

#4 - NoHigher: If Gates is looking for a reference from the majority of Former Students . . . the only way I’m giving him one is the same way a school district will give a good reference to a bad teacher: As long as he leaves and becomes someone else’s problem, I’ll say he’s okay.

The diversification program and liberalization are the reasons that I no longer contribute to the Former Student’s Association. They won’t gaurantee that my money won’t be used for these purposes and I ain’t givin’ ‘em another dime until they’ll make that promise.

As for SecDef - we’ll see.
