This says it all: “President Bush and his administration have shown their grasp of our present danger by stoutly resisting all attempts to rename this war. We call it a “War on Terror” because that allows us to cast it, not as a war against the Muslim people, with all their frustrations and hopes, but a war in which most Muslims are not our enemies at all.
That can be galling for many Americans. When, after the fall of the towers on 9/11, Palestinians and others poured into the streets, rejoicing, it was tempting to say, A plague on all of them!”
This man has used uncommon logic to think this out. (uncommon for most politicians) He connects the dots, the war on terror is not a war about Iraq, but a war fought in Iraq to prevent it from being fought here. A war fought in Afghanistan to prevent it from being fought in Connecticut. He states this is a world war, not just “our” war. And we can not afford to risk losing!
thats my take. the dems want a quick solution like corpoations stockholders want the price of their stock to rise quickly.
look at toyota they just slowly built better cars and hit the market when it was hot with segment blockbusters. look at them today versus 30 years ago when they first started.
they planned long term. just like politicians should. hmm!
#7 Chuck, I too have followed Card’s sci fi writings over the years. Ender’s Game is so well done and a classic.
He’s certianly in good company with Zell Miller as an outcast from the party. Along with Joe Lieberman, whom I suspect will remember who his friends are and who are not, and the latter shall be mightily sorry they abandoned him.

You are so true. I stand corrected. Actually, I have great respect for Mr. Lieberman. While I may not agree with all of his views, I have great respect for someone who has proven himself to be honorable, and for someone who does not stick his finger in the air to figure out who he’s supposed to each day.
actually I inserted another word that seems more appropriate, however Squawk would fuss if I were to actually use that word (starts with F, ends with K)
I have no problem with the word Flock. Y’all just think I am a hard a$$ don’t ya? (Squawk)

I find it interesting that my comment was noted as “whining” when there are so many fine examples of true whining by the Democrats over every little thing that has happened. Congratulations on your win. Hope you have a good plan.

FYI, Orson Scott Card is not a politician, he is a Sci Fi Writer.
there will be a world war against the muslims.

#2 But the other thing is he is a Democrat who has some sort of common sense. He is also a Mormon, but is a really good writer.
If you haven’t read his book Ender’s Game, read it. It is probably the best piece of science fiction (psychological science fiction) ever written.
Wow, this is an excellent read.
Thanks for posting.
I have followed Card for a long time now. He may be a Dem but if the rest were like him the country would not be in the mess we are in today.
Being a Democrat doesn’t mean you have to be stupid. It just usually happens that way.
#8, actually I think you meant that you don’t have to be stupid to be a Democrat, it just helps.

Democrats aren’t all stupid - as Mr. Card proves. I believe the stupids to which you are referring are liberals.
Liberal = Democrat true
democrat = liberal false

Obviously not as comfortable as you are.

It should read “…to figure out who he’s supposed to BE each day.”
