As you might recall, I posted a while back that NHMCCD and its union had been served with two ethics complaints. Well, Houston Community Newspapers has picked up the story (after the election of course, couldn’t have possibly influenced the election could we?). Stay tuned, I don’t think this roller coaster ride is quite over yet.
UPDATE: But there is one quote in the article that is not even correct (spin spin spin…):
“It is unfortunate that so many taxpayer dollars have been spent complying with Mr. Blanton’s numerous Open Records Requests and Ethics Complaints.”
Mr. Taylor knows this to be false. Fred Blanton has paid every penny of the “reasonable fees” he was invoiced in preparing the responses to the requests. If the college district did not charge the actual costs incurred, that was their choice, not Fred Blanton’s.
Now I ask you, how much did the failed election cost the taxpayers? Last time I checked, it was about a million dollars of taxpayer money that was wasted. And if this election gets thrown out because of these two (and possibly more) complaints, then again how much taxpayer money has the district wasted? LOTS!

First! Sha-zam!
This keeps getting better and better!
AHHHHHHH poor NHMCCD they can’t get a simple bond issue through so they can tax us to death - poor babies
1) I’m thoroughly disgusted with all the trashing down of the efforts made by Mr. Blanton to bring to light the blatent illegal election that The District was trying to hide.
2) Open records requests made by Mr. Blanton were ENFORCED by the AG’s office time and again, when The District tried to obstruct the law by not turning over records, and by trying to over-inflate the costs associated with retrieving records relative to open requests.
3) Ms. Lampe successfully got a Democrat re-elected, and that was no doubt her one and only goal. Bully for her. I hope Ms. Riddle and others that endorsed Lampe are proud of themselves. I said before I wouldn’t vote for Riddle because she endorsed this “liberal Republican” (I use that term loosely), and I hope those endorsers get a snoot full of themselves, because they sure do stink from here!
We need to vote the whole bunch out of office until this nest of rats is clean.
Is the server having problems again? I cannot seem to post here.
Let me try my posts again. Here are links to stories at HCN papers. Several comments have been submitted in response to their articles, but it’s taking time for them to show up on their websites.

It’s real apparent that Montgomery ISD saw through the waste at the college district and effectively shot down the “opportunity” to join The District!
I encourage you all to offer your own commentary to the articles linked above.
You won’t allow links to the HCN articles? Interesting.
#5/6, Your posts probably got caught in HAL’s spam filter temporarily. As to not allowing links to the articles I don’t know what you mean. I linked to one myself. I’ll investigate and get back to you.
ok, that was what was wrong, the SPAM filter saw a whole mess of links and assumed it to be spam. I fished it out of the spam filter and allowed it to post for you.
#8. Thanks! Guess I’m just an impatient little bugger. They may show up again! Sorry! LOL. There are some interesting comments, which some of you may enjoy reading (as soon as they all post).
Thanks again.
Can someone please tell me who pays these penalties? Are these board members held personally responsible? Is there any punishment at all for these board members?
#10, I only posted one of the four or five attempts, I didn’t see the point in posting all of them. If there was something specific in one of the attempts I nuked that you wanted to post, I apologize, please post a supplemental one.
#11, the individuals are SUPPOSED to pay the penalties themselves, but since they figured out a way to get the college district lawyer to represent them on district time, I would not be suprised if they try to stick the district with the bill. But the fact of the matter is that by committing a crime, they have removed their (and the district’s) sovereign immunity from prosecution.

I’m sorry, but I got a very nasty mental picture of the “spam filter” when you said you “fished out” the links. Imagine a screen covered with green slime, and you gingerly picking out the strands you want. Is this an accurate depiction of the “spam filter”?
sometimes, but not always…..
Rorschach - not a problem. I believe it was I who put you out.
It is my understanding that Pickleman announced at the last board meeting that the district lawyer would be representing all the ethics violators. How slick is that? I wonder what kind of violation that represents?
I wonder what all the other law-abiding district personnel think about how the sins of the few reflect on them all as an entity? sad, sad, sad, sad, sad. Do they honestly believe their impervious to punitive damages? They don’t deserve to be on the payroll.
EEEwwwwww! Better you than me!
(Keep up the good work!)
#15 it is my understanding that having the district lawyer represent them is a gray area legally and may not be technically verboten, although it certainly seems fishy to my way of thinking. But then again, that is why I’m not a lawyer, I would punch most of them. I would not be able to stand being in the same room with most of them for very long. I have a hard time with “situational ethics”

Ouch! Not all lawyers are alike. There are some good ones out there, ya know!
I did say most, not all…=D you know what they say, 99% of the lawyers give the other 1% a bad name…..
hcn is run by bunches of …..
debit,debit,debit, delete,,,,,,
but,,,you already knew that.
I so admire their editorial sanctions.
They scare me, really.
Do I do need to explain the concept of lost “opportunity cost”?
The district could have been doing others things besides responding to VERY time consuming and in many cases outright silly open records requests. How about you post all of Blanton’s open records requests and let others decide if he went a little over board?
Top Ten Reasons Blanton Lost the NHMCCD election:
10. LST endorsed Kinky - a solid 4th place and Blanton - a solid 3rd place. Proof that this definitely a rag sheet.
9. Too many public appearances in a cheap suit or good will donated clothing.
8. Blanton wanted to redo sweat shops and turn them into college campuses.
7. REALLY Long letters to whoever that tended to seem like he talking to himself?
6. The 1st rule in politics is to never inspire people to work against you…three strikes your out Fred!
5. Blanton turned the open records requesting right into an obsessive hobby.
4. His symptoms of possible OCD came out during this election and scared people.
3. It a bad sign when rich and famous people that are a relative and your treasurer request to be taken off Blanton’s paid for election propaganda….tends slow down your message.
2. Lampe had to work against the college machine, venders, contractors, and the Freddy fanatics, and then Lampe still showed impression numbers.
1. Bates had the college’s machine fully behind him and the venders and contractors money too.
