There has been a lot of flap about how the Conservative base and moderates turned their backs on the Republican party this last election. Well it seems that the whacko left electorate is going to hold the feet of “their” newly elected representatives to the fire. Promises were made and they expect those promises to be kept.
Gee I wonder where I have heard that complaint before.

Democratic base dials up pressure

WASHINGTON - After toppling the long-dominant Republicans in a hard-fought election, the Democratic Party’s incoming congressional leaders have immediately found themselves in another difficult struggle - with their own supporters.
Some of the very activists who helped restore the Democrats to a majority in the House and Senate last week are claiming credit for the victories and demanding their due: a set of ambitious - and politically provocative - actions on gun control, abortion, national security and other issues that party leaders fear could alienate moderate voters and leave Democrats vulnerable to GOP attacks as big spenders or soft on terrorism.
The conflict underscores the challenge facing presumed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, the next Senate majority leader, who have both pledged in recent days to “govern from the center,” after a campaign in which anger over the Iraq war and GOP scandals helped Democrats attract some unusually conservative candidates and a large share of independent voters.
Turning off those new voters could undermine Democrats’ hopes of solidifying their new majorities and retaking the White House in 2008. But to the leaders of interest groups who are core supporters of the Democratic Party, and who have been barred under Republican rule from the inner sanctums of power, the new Congress means a time for action, not compromise.
When are these politicians, on both sides of the aisle, going to learn to quit lying to their base? This is going to be a fun 2 years.

WOW, what a concept! Imagine holding a representative accountable for their promises. GOOD LUCK! I wish the best though. It will be a fun 2 years.
AS far as I am concerned, Dems and repubs are one in the same! Just different names! Start thinking for yourself, and examine the candidates. We should get rid of “straight ticket” next voting!
The difference is that the Dems really believe in their party principles.
Whoeee, it should be a wild and interesting ride the next two years. The Looney Left obviously thinks it is the major support and reason for the Dem victory.
Guess that’s news to the so-called moderates and conservative (Reagan) Dems who put them over the top. And the newly elected Zell Miller Dems will not likely meekly toe the lefty mark. The party honchos owe them too much. Do they have enough votes to override a veto? The infighting will be quite public thanks to the New Media, regardless of what the Dinosaur Media does.
As the Chinese have said, “May you live in interesting times.”
This should be a hoot. Democrats are natural born liars. Even the new libs will not be able to thwart their own genetic makeup.
Reid and Polosi will now become the foci of the MSM.
The toilet flush of Republicans eliminated a few RINOs and closeted homosexuals—which is a positive.
Now stalart Republican snipers can lie in stealth and take out targets of opprotunies!
Heh, it will be interesting to watch the Dems implode lets hope it happens before Nov 08. Perhaps we’ll be able to monopolize on that./

The Dems WILL implode! They will become so drunk on power that they will lash out everywhere! I hope they do, because if they do not and they “rule” as moderates, God help us in the ‘08 primaries. I’m giving the Dims 2 years. Let’s see what they do! If they are true to their nature, they will want to roll back tax cuts, get rid of the patriot act, raise minimum wages, etc. etc. They cannot wait! THEY ARE NOW IN POWER and that is what they have been seeking. Just sit back and wait for it to destroy them. Coming to theateries soon!
