Dangit Matt, you musta hit post about the same time I did….

  2. Neocon on November 30th, 2006 at 4:57 pm

Funny, the part about him being illegal is in the last sentence of the story. Typical Chomical! Unlike HPD, the Sheriff’s Dept. can ask about being in this country illegally. Kudos to this Deputy and to the Sheriff for having this policy.

  5. Rorschach on November 30th, 2006 at 7:16 pm

so where is The Defender? shouldn’t he be “defending” this piece of human excrement from those obviously racist sherrif’s deputies? After all he was only killing and carjacking people that americans wouldn’t kill and carjack…..

  6. Neocon on November 30th, 2006 at 7:24 pm

    Ror,

Tejano (The Defender) will not be appearing on this thread, I am pretty sure. If he does, he will say it is all the deputy’s fault and that the deputy should not have asked whether the perp was illegal.

  7. Chris Stevens on November 30th, 2006 at 7:40 pm

You can’t charge him with carjacking… There’s no direct spanish translation and it’s not fair…

  8. Hogfan on November 30th, 2006 at 7:43 pm

Was there any tasering involved? Sounds like this perp needed a good jolt just on principle.

Maybe the Deputies need to go to the HPD Taser Academy.

    #5 Ror, Good one :)

I can’t believe he admitted he was illegal! He must have slept through that part of the How to cross the river course. I know Nothing!Nothing!
I’m surprised the Chron put the illegal part in at all, of course their headline was not near as stimulating as Matt’s is.

  11. Chris Stevens on November 30th, 2006 at 8:37 pm

The illegal alien “admitted”? he was here illegally? That is a first. What consolation prize is he going to get - to choose his own lawyer?

  17. EricPJohnson on November 30th, 2006 at 11:32 pm

    Matt,

first I’m glad they caught this person and any other law breakers

second interesting statistics posted the other day on Drudge about 1 in 32 persons in the United States in Jail

    TopGroup

8.3% of all African American males are in the penal system

    2.6% of all Hispanics male

    1.8% of all White males

This includes illegal immigrants so that means that 97.4% of Hispanic males are not doing what this person was doing as opposed to 98.2 % of white males who were not doing what this person was doing.

Also, including females and children the 13 million illegal hispanic immigrants about 50,000 are criminals so 12,950,000 are not opposed to 13,000,000 white males 241,800 who are criminals so the profiling of all hispanics will yield less than profiling white males.

  18. C P on November 30th, 2006 at 11:40 pm

Wonder what those #s would break down to if specific to Texas? The way I kind of look at it is we have enough criminals in our society. We don’t need even 1 more.

  19. EricPJohnson on November 30th, 2006 at 11:52 pm

    #18

If you are really serious about reducing crime:

Well, then patroling the white high schools would be a better use of taxpayer dollars than building and fortifying a huge 2,000 mile fence with tens of thousands of troops, camps for internment etc.

If we go by the numbers…..

And I won’t even touch the African American 8.6% rate I don’t want Jesse and the entire Dem party coming down on me

  20. Matt 'Zilla' Bramanti, CPO™ on November 30th, 2006 at 11:54 pm

Eric, you’re missing a big factor. Illegal immigrants are often not held, particularly for nonviolent crimes. They’re deported, and therefore they aren’t in U.S. jails.

  21. C P on December 1st, 2006 at 12:22 am

    #19

I was just responding to your post (17). We’re always going to have crime. That’s a side effect of having a free society. I’m more about reducing illegal immigration. I can think of an officer that would still be with us if it wasn’t for an already once-deported illegal! I know, more whites and blacks have probably killed more than illegals. The point is, 1 less crime is better than none.

  22. glynne on December 1st, 2006 at 5:48 am

What Mr. Johnson is missing in his stats is that even if they are not doing anything illegal (or not getting caught) they are still HERE. And usually taking up government services (welfare, schools, etc.) so they are still a drain on our society and culture. They are not supposed to be here. Anyone miss the idea they are illegal? The question really is, can we afford the invasion? Is the “cheap” labor worth it? We pay for it either way. Just one way is over a long period of time in taxes! For those without a problem with that please take up our share of taxes who have a problem with they. Oh! You want to spend our money too for your utopian ideas. Easy to be generous with other people’s money.

  23. TheDefender on December 1st, 2006 at 8:37 am

    5. Im right here buddy! Did you miss me?
No I wont defend him, he needs to fry for his crime.
What I dont appreciate is the attempt to brand every illegal as a murder or carjacker. But keep at it you just prove me right on, lets see what is that word again? R*****

That I strongly disagree with you on that absolutely, there is no evidence of such a mass movement like that and as a high ranking former law enforcement in a parish with a large hispanic community that simply is not the truth - in actuality a white male committing a b&e has a many times greater chance of getting a adjudicated sentence with a fine or small local part time jail time than a minority

We usually deport them after time served.

    #22

    glynne

I wasn’t addressing the freebees - I’m against them same as you - I was addressing the fact that poor hispanic males actually have a LESSER crime rate than their white counterparts.

At 1.8% of all white males given the fact that 85% of these white males are of the same economic makeup of the hispanic criminal male

Basically what I’m trying to say is poor white males committ crimes over 5% whereas hispanic males are at 2.6% that a huge descrepancy add in the fact that charges are most likely to be dropped against a white male who offers restitution this number soars to nearly 10% 4 times the hispanic crime rate

  26. EricPJohnson on December 1st, 2006 at 9:13 am

    Like I said before

    I’m for a good fence

    I’m for ending Freebees

I’m for english as the only language

    I’m not for misinformation

    I’m not for propaganda

    I’m not for mass hysteria

I’m not for driving a wedge between different communities in the loose name of following the law

  27. TheDefender on December 1st, 2006 at 9:36 am

    26. I agree with your views completely. I too am for border security (in a positive manner, no hillbillies with rifles out hunting Mexicans), no freebies, English only, stop the misinformation immediately, and defintely no mass hysteria!

  28. Neocon on December 1st, 2006 at 9:44 am

Harris County does not even track Hispanics in their system. The races they track are

    Asian
    Black
    American Indian
    White
    Unknown

This from the Justice Information Management System (J.I.M.S.) which is used to track criminal records on individuals on cases filed in Harris County Criminal District Courts. All hispanics are lumped under the “White” race. You wonder why the statistics are skewed?

  29. EricPJohnson on December 1st, 2006 at 10:10 am

    Neo,

They do track em in detention

  30. Chris Stevens on December 1st, 2006 at 10:26 am

    26 & 27

I do agre that mass hysteria is a bad thing and so is misinformation. The REAL problem is that the Republicans who we elected have allowed the immigration laws to be ignored for so long that people are at their wit’s end.

We need to enforce the laws we have.

soooooo mass hysteria? no … Mass Deportation? Yes!

When things reach a fever pitch like we are coming to (and we haven’t even got there yet), then bad feelings arrise, bad laws are passed and bad things happen.

The past inaction is going to make ANY current action less effective and more prone to secondary problematic results.

  31. TheDefender on December 1st, 2006 at 1:07 pm

    mass deportations! hahahaha

  32. Sonia E. Alaniz on December 1st, 2006 at 2:07 pm

Of course he admitted to being here illegally. It doesn’t matter one way or another. They are so embedded among us. Well, I take that back. Cold as it was yesterday, a set of them, were grilling, practically in the middle of the driveway. It’s great to be an illegal.

  33. EricPJohnson on December 1st, 2006 at 2:17 pm

    Chris,

As if the Democrats who advertize in Tijuana and Jaurez to come to America - put ads in newspapers to get temporary visas for anchor baby moms are going to solve the problem

You can be as mad as you want to a party that passed the criminalization of immigration, the ending of freebees, English as our national language in the house only to have it fail due to the lack of votes in the Senate.

Call me when Pelosi passes the same measures

As far as mass hysteria the anger and its influence on intelligent people is quite prevelant in our culture now - an issue that was not an issue is now driving a wedge between communities that like it or not - are going to have to co-exist.

  34. TheDefender on December 1st, 2006 at 2:39 pm

    32. Did you go up to them and card them for a passport or ss card? How do you know they were illegal?

  35. Sonia E. Alaniz on December 1st, 2006 at 4:15 pm

    #34 TheDefender
Card them? SS card? Let me see, I know illegal by their actions. ie. a truck with fringe dangling from the visors with a picture of Jesus on the truck window. I have to do a better job of being general and calling them ‘illegals’, but IMO, they are highly ’suspect.

  36. Jean on December 1st, 2006 at 10:27 pm

Let’s face it folks, call me a racist I don’t care, I am not PC enough to be afraid.
The bottom line is NON CITIZENS of any race have more rights and less responsibility than citizens.

  37. EricPJohnson on December 1st, 2006 at 11:41 pm

    Jean,

I was curious what less responsibilities they have ie non-citizens, they still must pay taxes and serve in the military

  38. C P on December 2nd, 2006 at 12:02 am

Look. When most folks talk about paying taxes, they’re not talking about sales tax. They’re talking about income tax. Illegals don’t have valid SSNs. If they did, they wouldn’t be illegal. They do not pay income tax. Serve in the military? Uh, noone has to serve in the military. They can if they want. If they do, I think they ought to be granted citizenship. Commit a crime. No problem. Get a new ID with new name and new DOB. Car insurance. Right! They don’t share as many responsibilities as legal residents because they’re not as easy to hold accountable. They can disappear.

  39. EricPJohnson on December 2nd, 2006 at 12:36 am

    CP

    Again,

It clearly states that even with a non-issued social security number the taxes are withheld from their paychecks

The draft clearly states all males residing here legally or illegally are subject to serve in the military

3 of the first 5 to fall in the war on terror were illegal aliens with false ss#’s

They serve because the Marine, and the Army find a way to get them legalled up and those who fall are granted citizenship immediately and their families as well.

Also, the casualty rate among hispanics in the military is as high or higher than whites.

so as we go on being concerned over an entire group of people taking little care in seperating the patriots from the trespassers I’m always reminded by the casualty lists of all those hispanic origin surnames.

  40. C P on December 2nd, 2006 at 11:48 am

“It clearly states that even with a non-issued social security number the taxes are withheld from their paychecks”

What is “it?” That’s if they get paychecks. I doubt the fellas on the corner are receiving one.

“The draft clearly states all males residing here legally or illegally are subject to serve in the military”

Fine. Except, we don’t have a draft and I don’t see us returning to using one.

“Also, the casualty rate among hispanics in the military is as high or higher than whites.”

First of all, I question the source of your statistics. If it is true, are most of these hispanics American citizens or illegal aliens? Again, my argument is not about hispanics, but ILLEGAL aliens. I bet most of the hispanics you speak of were American citizens, which make that point irrelevant. God bless’em!

  41. C P on December 2nd, 2006 at 11:51 am

Oh, how, exactly, can the govt. draft an illegal alien when they don’t have valid names, SSNs, addresses, or DOBs? Maybe we ought to start. Countries south of the border may see a big population boom.

  42. EricPJohnson on December 2nd, 2006 at 1:10 pm

    CP,

Unfortunately the argument crosses the line as they are linked by family ties, culture and heritage. Thats something you and I cannot fix, when you say illegal, due to the almost 50% makeup of them in our hispanic community, there’s very little dividing lines to draw

  43. C P on December 2nd, 2006 at 5:35 pm

You’re either here illegally, or you aren’t. It doesn’t matter if your kids, uncles, aunts, and grandparents are legal. The dividing line is whether or not you can be deported.

  44. TheDefender on December 4th, 2006 at 9:03 am

    35. LMAO! Please… you should post your real name. You know damn well you are not hispanic.

  45. TheDefender on December 4th, 2006 at 9:03 am

    36. False.

  46. TheDefender on December 4th, 2006 at 9:07 am

    38. lol, when they have fake SSN they do get deductions. Deductions that they never recieve back like we do. So in essense you just contradicted yourself. =)
Actually I can remember for sure of one illegal serving in our military and in Iraq. She was discovered and was going to be thrown out of the military for it. She said she wasnt looking for sympathy or a handout. She just wanted to serve.

Fred Loya now offers insurance for them!!!!!!

  47. TheDefender on December 4th, 2006 at 9:09 am

    43. Or perhaps we should deport you!

  48. C P on December 4th, 2006 at 2:25 pm

Like I said before, if they’re getting paid cash, they’re not paying deductions!

“LMAO! Please… you should post your real name. You know damn well you are not hispanic.”

Don’t know if you’re referring to me. If you are, I have no idea why you said that. I’m not hispanic and never claimed to be.

“Or perhaps we should deport you!”

Typical liberal-type of emotional comment when one doesn’t have any facts. As I said, if you’re illegal and you serve in the military, you deserve to be given citizenship, pending the the honorable or medical discharge. You may want to read all of my posts on a topic before posting your own.

  49. TheDefender on December 4th, 2006 at 3:09 pm

    48. OMG can you not read? Go back to my post, read to whom it is in response to! #35, is that you? NO I DONT THINK SO.

Typical Liberal comment? I see you have no brain of your own. Just because someone doesnt agree with you it doesnt make them a liberal. My comment was in response to your comment # 43. Please read the comments carefully, or shall I translate them into Spanish for you?

  50. C P on December 4th, 2006 at 5:10 pm

I did. (Looked right over the “35.” Was just in the mood to “discuss” at the time. Guess I was suffering from selective reading. Sorry.)

As far as your last paragraph. What I was saying is certain people usually start name-calling or making personal attacks when they have no more facts, which is how “Or perhaps we should deport you!” comes across.
