Throwing money assuages the feelings of guilt.
    Especially for white liberals.

  2. tedtam on December 8th, 2006 at 9:01 am

    Correction:

Throwing OTHER PEOPLE’S money assuages the feelings of guilt.

How come people that don’t really work for their money see it as ok to give our money away to people that never have worked…

  4. Dave D on December 8th, 2006 at 9:25 am

I’m shocked,…shocked, that the Comical would take this stand! NOT! (Casablanca)
“it is unfortunate, if not incredible, that FEMA and its counsel could not devise a sufficient notice system to spare these beleaguered evacuees the added burden of federal litigation to vindicate their constitutional rights.” WTF!!! CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!! To take our money while they sit on their A$$E$ Beleaguered evacuees = Blood sucking leaches,…”If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s a leach”, Humphrey Bogart, The African Queen, damn Dave’s going down memory lane.

  5. wyatt on December 8th, 2006 at 9:30 am

My sympathy for the Katrina evacuees is beginning to wane just a little bit…

  6. trl3 on December 8th, 2006 at 9:32 am

Why are these people think they are entitled to endless assisstance because they were victims of Katrina?

They were offered a helping hand to get back on their feet. It was not supposed to be a life time commitment.

One of the problems in America today is to many able bodied people think they are entitled to sit on their lazy butts and live off the hard earned money of others.

My sympathy for these freeloading leeches is GONE!

  8. Robert on December 8th, 2006 at 9:36 am

I am surprised that some group hasn’t implied that if we don’t help these Katrina people that our crime rate will go up after all you can’t expect them to actually work for a living.

  9. skigib on December 8th, 2006 at 9:43 am

I agree with #1 and #2 -Throw sausages at them!

The Cornicle is what it is, a third world newspaper. Why don’t all the bleeding hearts at the Cornicle each adopt a refugee family? They are so concerned right?

And by the way, did anyone see the story that up to One Billion Dollars has been issued to possible fraudulent claims?

This brain-dead government knows no ends to waste, fraud and the sellout of America.

I am having trouble finding the Article in the Constitution that guarantees anybody the right to be remunerated for any losses they might incur. Guess I need to ask Judge Leon where that is.

  13. No Higher Tax on December 8th, 2006 at 10:28 am

We are assuming that FEMA wants them off the dole. From what I have seen of the bush and perry administrations it would not surprise if this is part of a plan to keep the money flowing to them with the appearance of it being court ordered but is really an administration plan.

Remember the Border Agents and if you don’t think that isn’t a plan you are FC. Wonder how much of last years RNC money came from drug donations?

  14. Sonia E. Alaniz on December 8th, 2006 at 10:39 am

I don’t even want to talk about this subject. What we think, will never play a part in what the government will do. Not to say that it does not pain me, for it does. I have developed TMJ from gritting my teeth, from sanctuary city to the Katrina effort. All levels of our government are corrupt with few exceptions. The liberals playing the PC card, our hands are tied. Truly, truly upsets me. I know this is a very broad and general statement.

  15. JRB on December 8th, 2006 at 10:44 am

I wonder what the socialist FDR would think about FEMA? At least, he made the people work for their hand outs. Oops, shouldn’t bad mouth FEMA, I’m waiting a flood insurance check so I can put my house back together after the 10/26 floods. No, I do not live in the flood plain, thats another topic not for here.

  16. trl3 on December 8th, 2006 at 11:01 am

During Huricane Rita a tree fell in the yard. It missed the house by 10 feet but it ripped the electrical service box off the side of the house and pulled the interior wiring. I had to replace the service and the all the interior wiring.

Is this Judge now saying I have a Constitutional right to have the Taxpayers foot the bill for my repairs? Where do I sign up. I also want a $2,000.00 debit card and free rent (all bills paid) and a living allowance for the next 4 or 5 years. I not asking for anything I don’t deserve or have have Constitutional right to.

  17. Young Curmudgeon on December 8th, 2006 at 12:31 pm

I have an idea. If these people are so deserving of more handouts, why doesn’t Louisiana pay for them?? Kathleen Blanco and the Louisiana Legislature are currently looking for ways to spend a $1.6 billion surplus this year: http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/politics/4862216.html.

  18. fasternu426 on December 8th, 2006 at 12:40 pm

17 Maybe we can sell them back. By the pound???

  19. The Deacon on December 8th, 2006 at 1:06 pm

How about this for a FEMA notice the Katrinas can understand:

    THE GUMBO TRAIN IS OVER!
    THE HOG’S TEET IS DRY!
    PUT DOWN THE X-BOX!
    TURN OFF OPRAH!
    FIND GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT!

    –the U.S. Taxpayer.

  20. navymom on December 8th, 2006 at 1:28 pm

#19 I think that should go on billboards all over the US

Maybe bumper stickers, tv ads are in order, too!

  21. FedUpCracker on December 8th, 2006 at 4:55 pm

This is how they were raised. This is what their kids will be taught. One day, we will pay reparations. They will spend it all, and we’ll be right back to square one. They all think “da man” owes them.

  22. southerntragedy on December 8th, 2006 at 4:56 pm

    #19 & 20: Hey, what a novel idea!

  23. catfish on December 8th, 2006 at 7:12 pm

The chronic-ills insistance on not understanding what self reliance is not only clear in this story, but crystal clear in how they refuse to understand those of us who believe gun ownership is key to self reliance; that self defense is a human right. A pox on them all.

  24. southerntragedy on December 8th, 2006 at 7:31 pm

#23: What kind of pox did you have in mind? :)

I would LOVE to quit working and have money thrown at me from the government. I don’t care how much it was! I can grow veggies (and have time to actually weed the garden, since I didn’t have to work),raise more livestock, be a Texas Parks and Wildlife animal re-habber,(would have time to get my wildlife permit) volunteer to help take care of old folks AAANNNDDD, Wouldn’t have to marry a rich dude next time. I could still be single! Sweet! Oh, wait….would I have to watch TV all day, if they did that? NEVERMIND…

  25. TEX06 on December 8th, 2006 at 7:37 pm

    Another day in Houston.

Another idiotic editorial in the Chronicle. Do those cretins have any shame? Apparently not.

  26. kd5dgs on December 8th, 2006 at 7:50 pm

Is there a day some at some point, when FEMA may stop with payment to this Katrina event?

  27. FullofP&V on December 9th, 2006 at 3:13 am

Well, just check the “nola.com” website to see the sorry state of the Katrinas’ still-messed up cities.
