Bowling remembered on CNN tonight
by David Benzion · 01/02/2007 2:14 pmLongtime LST readers will recall the Iraq journal entry by Edd Hendee describing the death of Cpl. Jonathan Bowling and several of his fellow Marines.
We’ve received word that tonight on CNN (9 PM Central), Anderson Cooper’s 360 program is going to have a special called “Ambush at the River of Secrets,” which is about the attack in which Cpl. Bowling lost his life.
Tune in.

One has to wonder why all of sudden CNN decides to reopen this story. Do they have an agenda with this story or what????
Accroding to Darrell Bowling - Jonathan’s father - he was told they want to tell the story and honor the Marines. I share your concerns but it this tells their story then it’s a worthwhile report. Cpl. Bowling and Sgt. Strong were solid Christians - loved the Lord and shared their faith openly. Being there that night changed my life - and I hope this report tells their story.
#2. Amen
And once again prayers for the families of all our service men and women.
I also pray again that the Iraqi people do not squander the opprotunity that this young man and all of our fine young men and women bought for them with their blood.
I’m going to assume this is a straight-up report. If they bias it or slander Cpl. Bowling, I pity the poor producer or reporter that is going to have to deal with Edd Hendee.
I absolutely don’t trust CNN to present an unbiased, pro-military report. I can not watch tonight, but will look forward to what you folks say tomorrow.
Mr. Hendee:
If you have this topic on tomorrow’s show, would you PLEASE not start the discussion until 7-7:15 am? Please have consideration for those of us who have dial-up. I am not able to listen to you on the radio until then! (darn radio waves in the sticks) Thank you so much for your cooperation!
Several of us who participated in this CNN special were suspicious, parents and Marines alike, but we did it anyway. I think they did honor to Jon, Jesse, Chris and my son Karl. I wish they would do the same for the fallen 1/23 Marines out of Texas with whom out guys were attached.
